    You guys nailed it with the “too many people too much paper” Just had my car painted under a recall and it was the same thing…even better after not having it for months they call and tell me it’s ready, I told my rep I’d come the very next day. When I showed up my rep acted shocked that I was there even tho I spoke to him, car wasn’t detailed or ready for me 🤦🏼‍♂️

      @@joshve87 Yes, but that is totally fine with OEMs.
      Your complaint is that the OEMs treat you like turd. That complaint is completely legitimate because that is just what they have been taught to do, thats what their training tells them to do, thats what they have done since they have no competition.
      And now comes a uppity little startup wanting to take away their customers.
      How do they react?
      Business as usual. Customers must be treated like turd.
      What happens if Tesla, Rivian,. Lucid, Aptera, Arcimoto try the same - and Tesla does it here in good ole Europe from time to time. They are being immediately shitbombed in social media. And they know that and try to make amends and make it better next time.
      Thats what i expect of them. Make it better next time.
      But dealers who have no competition and know that the laws say they will never get ANY competition will not change.

    Spray in is definitely the best choice. Drop in chafes the bed and holds moisture under it. Worst of all it is super slippery for the contents. The rubber mat is okay but nothing slides on it.

    What I usually do for steel bolts on black is color them with a black sharpie. It is durable, cheap to repair, and comes off with acetone if you somehow want to go back to silver.

    I'd never go for a drop in bed liner. They're crap in my opinion. For just a little more a spray in is always the way to go on a truck. No rattling, no gaps, no getting crap between the linear and bed or body, and they aren't as frigging slippery when wet. While I hate that you had the issue, I think it was a good issue to have which forced you to the spray in, and I don't think you'll regret it.

    Spray in + rubber mat is the way to go, IMO. The rubber mat takes most of the abuse, it protects items put in the bed from abrasion, and it keeps things from sliding all over the place. As a long time truck owner I don't know how people go without a rubber bed mat.

    spray in was my option, drop in can still get moisture under it and because it can still slide around a bit, that will wear the paint and rust will still happen, spray seals up all the spots, and if you damage it, i have, they can patch it and it will keep the rust away.

    I could swear Ford started using aluminum beds in the F-150 a few years ago. Why would the EV F-150 not also have an aluminum bed to reduce weight? You might get aluminum to significantly corrode if you are constantly hauling salt or something, but it’s never going to “rust” like a steel bed. I’ll be utterly shocked if the Lightning actually come with a steel bed. 😢

    Ironic part about not wanting to scratch up the bed is that they scratch up the paint before spraying on the bed liner to make sure it has something to adhere to. If it’s too smooth, it won’t stick.

    • @childishfiend5923
      @childishfiend5923 2 года назад +3

      The liner is sprayed in a controlled environment where they know that there is not water or other debris being trapped beneath the liner prior to the application, an unlined bed which is scratched during real world use would be left out in the elements until it was lined or taken indoors, leaving it susceptible to rust and protrusion by debris. 😅

    • @CL-gq3no
      @CL-gq3no 2 года назад

      Yes, but they don't take it down to bare metal and they immediately coat it with the liner so it's protected from rust. Their concern was deep scratches in the paint allowing rust to form.

    How about a lighting review? Rivian has those distinct headlights, the Lightning has fairly standard lights. The Rivian can't use the fog lights without the headlights on, the Ford can use parking lights and fog.
    So, which ones work better? Which ones reach best on high beam? Which have the best view on low? Which dazzle oncoming traffic worst? In heavy fog, which one can light the road and not blind the driver?
    How do they work on wet pavement?
    It just seems to me that as LEDs have taken over, the performance of headlights seem to be worse. More dazzling, poorer performance, and just don't put the light where you need it.
    For example, my old HIR bulbs that I retrofitted into my Volvo seem to have the best "see the road" performance of anything I've seen.

I'm also the President of Recycle Hawaii and I know a thing or two about plastic, particularly micro plastics. We inhale a credit cards worth of microplastics every week. The particles are microscopic, passing through the blood brain barrier. They contain a cocktail of chemicals that cause cancer, endocrine disruption, and genetic mutagens. Every living thing on Earth has been contaminated. Your children are born contaminated and the milk you give your newborn baby is contaminated, be it breast milk or formula. So what's a working man supposed to do? Well, you could buy an all stainless steel truck, if there was one, hint hint. 😉

    OMG what is wrong with you 2 "Spray in bed liner is the ONLY way to go! Oh but it is a Ford so it don't matter any how. LOL! And oh by the way it is available in the build to add a spray-in-bed liner for $595. Now You Know!

    Have you ever really had a bed get scratched up and rusty? Really. Worked construction and only construction workers can scratch a bed enough and even then they don’t get rusty. Not wanting to scratch a truck bed is like not wanting to get a circular saw covered in saw dust.

      My current F150 is 2016 and is scratched and still no rust. My brother screwed up and Rhino lined his truck. Its oxidized and everything he puts back there gets covered in black dust. Including hands and knees of pants when you climb in it.

      @@schtinerbock4570 where are you located? because if you are in the Northeast of the Continental US, the road salt just eats away at the sheet metal around here.

      @@wildweav F150 beds are aluminum I believe. Could be wrong. Don’t know and don’t care. Yup I don’t live with places with lots of salt. None the less the false idea that a truck bed will rust quickly has spread nation wide. I guess the upside is it creates jobs right?

    You have a Lightning, a Rivian, and a Cybertruck on order and there is a complaint about the spray-on being a few hundred dollars more?

    Lol now you can use it? They scuff the bed to spray it. You could have scratched it up all you wanted then had it sprayed.
