    James will publish his video of the hike sometime in July. I'll link to that in the description as soon as it's up.
    Interested in hiking Mt Fuji? If you're in good shape, I recommend beating the crowds and hitting up Dave at Kanto Adventures for a guided hike during the off-season. I love working with him and will be doing guiding Fuji hikes for his company as much as my schedule allows in the next couple years!

    Thanks again Quinlan for an amazing video. It's great to see all the excitment on James' face as he wa trekkimg and his grit an perserverance.
    His experience brings a question to mind, what type of boots are reccommended for a climb up mt. Fuji? From the height you got it looks like an approach boot/bouldering boot would be ideal.
    It'd be fun to see a gear breakdown video. Especially differences between different types of climbs, hikes, terrain.

    • @GoNorthJapan
      @GoNorthJapan  Год назад +2

      Sure- the type of gear changes with the season, but for boots his problem was that they didn't fit right I think. Also having good wool socks is vital! But yeah- thanks for the the video suggestion, that would be straightforward to make!

    Quinlan you did a fantastic job guiding him! My uncle is blind, so this episode hits home for me. When my uncle was younger, my mom always had him climbing trees, skiing, hiking, sled riding and so on. Just because he couldn’t see, doesn’t mean he can’t do things. So happy you two had a wonderful hike!!! As always love the channel 😊

    There is something rather lovely about all those little conversations and connections you have with the people you encounter on your mountain hikes and how the shared experience brings you all together like that. It was really great watching James get the opportunity to climb mount Fuji and play some Pokémon up there. As someone whose disability (Obsessive Compulsive Disorder) has left me housebound over the past 3 years due to effects the pandemic has had on my condition, this video was incredibly moving for me. I'm not currently able to travel to Japan or to climb mountains, indeed at the moment I'm working on the challenging (for me) project of just getting out of the house for some 40 minutes to an hour long walks, but one thing I can say is that I'm super proud to wear my GoNorth Japan tee-shirts whilst doing so, as this channel is always an inspiration for me.

    Hi Quinlan thank you for sharing this brilliant video, especially getting up at ‘stupid o’clock’!It’s always amazing seeing the differences in the weather as you go up and down a mountain. Meeting new people and making new friends is a fantastic reason for hiking Mt Fuji. I look forward to seeing James release his video of this hike, it’s interesting to see and hear other people’s thoughts of a shared experience. Looking forward to the next adventure, best wishes to you

    Excellent work getting as high as you did. I assume Pokemon GO has stops or gyms along the trail.

      My pronunciation was unclear.. it was an older game called Pokemon GOLD. So I think the last final boss battle had a background that was Mt. Fuji. He did it on some kind of Gameboy Advance or something.

      I was never into Pokemon when it was first coming into North America. Saw some of the first TV season (anime) sometime after it had aired in Japan and was dubbed for North America. I remember seeing the ads for the trading card game (TCG) and the earlier games.
      Did some quick research. The mountain that appears ingame is called Mt. Silver, which is based on Mt. Fuji. In the Pokemon universe, there is a cave network inside the mountain.
