Hey Chig... I'm 65... whenever I start walking from anywhere I've stopped, I check for three things: phone, wallet, glasses. It is now an automatic response which I call pocket slapping!!!
Lol! Yep! I have had people make fun of me for doing that! Wallet, Wallet, key chain! I never take my cell phone out in the woods with me.Too big a distraction!Yep! Pocket slapping!Lol!😅
When I was a kid of 9, MANY years ago, we were in North Carolina at a distant cousin's tobacco patch! After a rain, we went out into hi spatch of bare ground, at the time and founf over 300 arrow points in less than an hour! Some of them were very crude and they ran the gamut from very crude to almost as good as we find in the West of Wyoming, where they are excellently flakes beautiful points! What a day we had, even though it was only less than an hour before a storm hit and caused us to quit hunting! All were surface finds so, if there were than many on the surface, imagine whay would be found if one could do as you were doing in the river in the first of your videos I watched and then subscribed to your channel? WOW! Take care, stay safe and keep up the fantastic finds!
There are many reasons why I enjoy your adventures, Professor. There is always something for me to learn, something to enjoy. Thanks for all you share.
“The Field of Points” 😄 I would love to find just one of those broken shards in my lifetime. So interesting. Glad you picked up that quartz for Lindsay, and glad too that you found your phone. Todd seems to know lots of awesome property owners, lucky for you both. Keep ‘em comin’ Chigg. 😊
Chigg! My husband and I have been hunting farm fields for 5 weeks now looking for arrowheads ! Have not found any yet, but I did find a piece of chert big enough for me to try and knap. The brown, I see mainly the grays around here. Interesting our property was an Indian Reservation before 1887, we have old maps of our county and area for metal detecting old home sites. And we have your buddy's book on Virginia Artifacts, great book.. Late February around my birthday I found a scaper in a field we have a Permission on. That was cool! In a deer scrape. 🦌 by where two little creeks come together
Don't feel bad Chigg.... I lay mine down in the house and can't find it for 2 days..... Thanx Chigg and Todd for another great AQUACHIGGER ADVENTURE see ya on the next
Love your vids. Archaeologists call those little flakes and chips "debitage" (deb-eh-tahge). I envy your access and location. Here in CA not so much. Good huntin'!
That was cool you found your phone. Last early spring a friend and I were head hunting the fields along Ohio River I dropped my phone didn't notice for minute. Could not find it for nothing. Glad your still on here
Making arrow heads, and tools would have been an art in it's self, one wrong hit would ruin your masterpiece. No wonder there are so many shards. You keep us interested Chigg, never the same things, but always interesting, and fun. A shout to Todd.
I'm in the process of teaching myself how to flintknap, I read alot of books and watch alot of flintknappers on the RUclips. I've been hunting for arrowheads the last 5 weeks or so, still looking
i know ive told you before that the husband is a flint knapper. he made a knife out of some pink quartz like stuff. it sits in the windowsill in the livingroom. has a cane handle. we find worked flakes out here pretty often. i have ALWAYS thought that if a native found something w/ crystals in it, they would be POSTIVIE that it would have some magic in it, and that itd kill a deer for sure. ill bet you that crystal was something someone held dear.
I found my first full arrowhead a couple weeks ago at a dig site here in Texas. It’s solid black and fire popped. I was so happy to finally find one!! The place I was at had churt tall over the place.
Best likelihood of finding Indian artifacts - yep, high ground is good - but high ground near a water source - creek, river or lake (that likely has existed for many hundreds of years) is much better. When we bought our acreage, it's on high ground above a creek system. And I have found lots of points, spear points, axeheads. When our woods were first plowed up for the house site, I would often find 5 to 10 points in every couple of hours of looking. Searching the rock caches in the creeks is where I found quite a few axeheads.
That is totally a grindstone base you found first in the video. I wish I had permissions for the places I used to look when I was a Teen. Laws in my state have changed so you cant just walk fields anymore. You have to have written permission from the land owner to get surface finds. I have early paleo points dating back to Clovis or Folsum...and Mississipian points.
In Australia when a settler took up a huge homestead area. The Aborigines would set up camp not far from the homestead and work for food. They loved flour and sugar. Steel axes and later tobacco. Of cause sometimes there was conflicts if it was their favorite waterhole or sacred site.
One of my favorite pastimes is walking around in the mud looking for pointy rocks. No pottery shards? Used to find bags of shards in IN, none out here though.
Hey Chigg and Todd. Todd ain’t been on in awhile has he???? I’ll check and see if I’m subbed to Todd’s channel or not. Seems like I am I’ll make sure in a few
With everybody going there all the time, you will be lucky to find a whole arrowhead! Don't you think so! Can't wait to see your next video with the metal detector.
Life ling resident of Kanawha County. Ive never once found anything in the creeks or the mountain tops around here. There is one cave that has ancient drawings but thats it. If i cross the Elk River only 3 miles away you can find arrowheads in every yard.
hi guys. Why didnt't you metal detect on the home site ? I also collecting flint or stone tools. Much older than yours though. I live in France. Always nice to see your videos.
I love you're videos i been watching for years now and i just wish they we're more long like the old time 🔥 and you don't need to edit it much while you walk around or take long to find something just keep telling us stories like before but much love for all the work and time you put to make the video ♥!!!
chig? have you ever heard the term 'oh shits'? a native friend of mine told me when you find broken arrowheads in the flinty areas where they work it, theyre called 'oh shits' because its what a person would have said if they broke a nearly finished point. have you ever been to flint ridge, OH? its over between columbus and zanesville, i think. havent been over in a long, LONG time.
Hey Chigg, what do you do about ticks??? We got an old dump way back in the woods behind our house, I went out today and got a tick on me. First day with no rain and I get a tick. PS I scored 2 old Clorox bottles, screw tops but they are enough to make me happy.
Sad as it sounds I am a sub for your buddy and have watched some of his videos but I get around 30-40 minutes of free time a day and I watch you and other totally unrelated to detecting videos before I have to sleep and do the whole repeat ... Repeat Repeat
Ya'll move much to fast to find anything good. Slow down. The high points are good, but the good stuff is going to be the proximity finds. With plowing, points can be moved a long ways from the camp site.
LOL ... I can set my phn down in my apartment ... I don't have foot prints to back track to it's location, nevertheless the old blue tick traced her down. 🤣 LOL
I hope you enjoy this video.
Thanks for watching…. The Chigg
Hi Beau :>)
@@AndrexT Well, I see I failed to get in before the riff raff showed up. lol j/k
@@evanscreekbrahman7511 At the second I got the pop up, I just finished watching one from 4 days ago. It has been a long time since I was in early.

I’d be on the mountain in the background hunting those cliff lines for caves and overhangs.
An hour of Chigg? Yes please! Glad your channel wasn't discontinued! tfs!
“The Field of Points” 😄

How you found that phone in the middle of those huge acres is beyond me!! 😳 I can’t even find my phone...in my purse....when it’s ringing!! 😂 😂
You always tell us to take our blinders off. Enjoyed another adventure.
As a child, I hunted very close nearby to that farm on a neighboring farm. Beautiful country up there.
So cool to find history in those fields this many years later ,to think people lived in and thrived in this area awesome.
Yh untill the English thought they’d ruin their harmony living with the planet
When it’s, “which way do you want to go” and it’s, “uhhhhhhh?” That’s awesome!

The lithic material is Kanawha chert.
We would look at the soil for darkness color. Always a camp site or lived there awhile. Great video!!

Glad to see you survived Arizona Chigg! 😊
Love your excitement and LOVE the Indian artifact videos! Can't believe you found your phone with all that property!
Lots of worked flint. Hopefully not worked by the plow! That one oval was definitely a scraper/slicer hand chipped. Very cool site. ✌
500 plus yrs ago and that open field was probably a forest not an open field like it is today.

Awesome finds, Chigg! Also, an hour long video would be good to watch! Especially one like this one.
Awesome day for you guys and a lot of fun enjoyed the video stay blessed 👍🙏
You better hurry up Chigg ! Tod, s catching up to you!😮Pretty neat video!
Some nice bits of debitage(I think I spelled that right) you guys found. Nice crystal for Todd. Happy hunting and be well

I love it do more Indian Artifact hunting Tip always go back-and-forth back-and-forth through the fields👍
Field next to the river. Trees gone and plowed up. Now that should be easy pickin.
400 years ago that feel was most likely a forest.
Great Find, you found the first ancient Indian cell phone. 👍🙂

Wow that red and white piece of pottery was probably beautiful when it was whole!
There has been a lot of arrow heads and things found near Plum Orchard Lake in Fayette County West Virginia.
"it's definitely a tool... so are you chigg" man, that killed me. thanks for the laugh.
Where’s the gold coins and Civil War cannon balls? LOL! Love your channel! Thanks, you make my day!

Right up my alley! Nice hunt as always!👍
Always enjoy your adventures when you share that the only detector needed are your eyes.
Looks like a place General Imboden might have stopped by. If you find that camp please take me with you. I grew up in the big town down the river 😂
That metate was an awesome find, Chigg!💖
It is sad that you don’t have that many like on your videos just know that have and will always watch your videos.Keep it up aquachigger

Thanks Chigg.
I really enjoy your arrowhead hunts.
Your cave exploring is fun as well
But hate that i cant find good stuff metal detecting like you do.
And the 'Mound Culture' Copper Bulldozer is the (holy grail) find of any chap in the field looking for cool stuff.

Could it be chipped by the farmer when ploughing the field year after year just a thought👍🇦🇺
Chigg, you failed to put the link to the farm’s web page.

Pieces look like rejected or ruined arrow heads.
Todd needs to wear some WVU gear and his following will increase...
Best find of the day was your phone!

You need a leash for your phone! Lol
If that field was in Australia . It would be fenced off never to be touched.
