Now that he's in the coaching setup, I sincerely hope this new path of football will be a success for him and gets to achieve what he couldn't as a player.
Always gave 100% on the pitch, was a decent footballer too, the mind is a powerful tool, but also so destructive. Even with all the injury problems Phil has won in life, to even become a professional footballer is such a rare achievement 😊
Top top man. Excellent player who had a decent career but for injuries could have been the very best. Fair play on your honesty and you’re gonna make a great manager someday.
What a fantastic player. This just says shows how much a silence can be misterpreted as giving up or slacking. What a wonderful guy. Having faced the adversity he has, he has come out stronger. People will say and write what they like but when all is said and done, this guy made it to a level that 99.99% of us could only ever dream of - not to mention winning the PL with Manchester United. The core support will remember him fondly. Well done and thanks Phil, always a red. 🔴⚪️⚫️
I really hope he can become a great coach. He gave everything, every time he stepped on the pitch. If he played for any other club no one would have cared about his injurys but because its united he got so much stick. Hes a top bloke.
Comes across very well and articulate. The abuse he received simply disgusting and simply fuelled by jealousy. All the best to you and thank you for your efforts at our beloved club and who knows maybe one day a return to the Old Trafford dug out??
There is also another context. Not all people are honest and not all people are hardworking. All footballers who don't perform come out eventually and speak like Phil does here... But statistically that cannot be the truth for all of them. People are different. Some are lazy, some are arrogant, some are liars, some are cheaters and some suffer. We need more players like Phil who give everything to the cause. Thank you for the great memories. Wishing you greater health and success for the future.
Proper pro this guy was top player also I remember we went for him when united did such a shame about his injuries .. good interview and great player/man 👊🏾
Phil is one of our own. I’ll never forget seeing him in the 2011 preseason. One of Fergies boys
Going to miss you Phil! Thank you for everything you've done for the club. Wishing you well for the future. May you have a blessed journey through life with your family and loved ones. Cheers mate
Hearing about his knee injury and how he dealt with it was tough man and everyone needs to realise these people are just normal human beings not robots. Everytime he was on the pitch for United he gave everything. Soli solid player on his day. Shown his quality when he got thrown into the wolves game. Great player to have in any dressing room.
Thank you Phil for telling your story , All the best as a Coach / Manager
One of my favourite players for us during his early United days. Could have been a real club legend, had the perfect attitude for United
Intelligent and thoughtful. Very good interview. He must have developed good mental strength after the memes he put up with.
Thanks Phil for explaining, as a fan I was wondering what happened to you. God bless you and your family 🙏
One of my favourite United players growing up. He had the correct mentality and work ethic. Unfortunately, the iniuries dampered his career.
Seemed a top top lad. Wish him the best. Always a Red.
Phil let me say as a 50 year MU supporter I always loved watching you play . I always thought you would be a great DM . You have had a great career and the pain with that knee would have been unbearable. Thank you for the memories. I wish you all the best in the future to you and your family
What a lovely, genuine guy. Great interview. Fantastic to hear him speak so honestly and insightfully on his career. Good luck to him in management.
I remember us playing Blackburn, and Phil was like a one man defence. I knew then United needed to get him and was so excited when we did. Always gave everything he had, even and sadly often at his own cost. Speaks very well too - wishing him success with the coaching.
One of my all time favorite United players! He embodied everything it means to be a United player- resilience, humility, & fighting spirit. The majority of people will never even dream to achieve what he’s achieved.
I will be forever proud to have inked your skin Phil, an absolute top lad and i wish you all the very best with coaching and management, you'll smash it mate
Phil is a real legend of the club. Wrote him a letter to Carrington back in 2020 with the words of support, even though never got a reply. Remember sir Alex talking about him as a future skipper of United because of his mentality, and what a professional mentality he has indeed. All the best with the coaching career.
Phil jones really was one of the last united old guard.
Unlucky with injuries but always gave his all.
Very clear he was raised by sir Alex with how he speaks.
I pray he goes on to be a world class coach
Exactly why I backed Jones for so long. He got injured a lot but I respected his passion for the game. He put his heart in his game
Thanks for sharing your story Phil. Thank you for the happy moments you gave many United fans. Whenever you played I could tell you gave your best. A shame your injuries prevented us seeing you more, but they don’t define you as a person. As you said you lived the dream and thinking positively and moving forward is the right thing to do.
I wish i had a player like Phil Jones on FM, my players always get injured and just pussy around.
What a lovely fella. I remember the potential and some outstanding performances. I just feel so sorry for the lad, my knee is twinging listenin to what he went through. Good luck Phil, you've done more than any of us wannabe footballers could ever dream of. The critic sits comfy in his/her seat without achieving a single thing. Red forever ❤🖤
All I remember is he came back one game after being out so long and was absolutely quality. Was like a new signing. Then didn't see him again. He had one of those injuries that just don't get right.
Phil Jones, I take my hat off to you. I’ve just messaged you on Facebook but I don’t believe you’ve been on since 2020. Something like that. I don’t think you would realise at the moment but between this podcast and Ferdinand’s podcast. I will be honest I’ve looked at you in a different way. I worked printing newspapers for 27 years and I know all the lies that newspapers create. But I thought we get that that other people don’t. It must’ve been so hard so heartbreaking, especially as the bit where you just said he was with your children. That’s disgraceful people interfering with your family life. The respect I’ve got for you is absolutely unlimited. That is the most honest beautiful couple of podcasts I’ve watched on you. I very much doubt you’ll ever get to see this message. But I’ve got an award-winning mental health group. Everything we do is free of charge I want to make it clear this is an absolute genuine message because of the way I have felt after listening to you. I think you would be a great ambassador. You will never be asked to do anything, especially you would never be asked for money I have a big phobia of making money on the death and suicide of my brother the reason why we started the mental health group. I’m the last thing wants to say he is definitely get into management. I think you’ve got the making.
God bless
Mark Sproston
Founder of the award-winning mental health group Project 23
Nothing but respect for the lad. Once a red, always a red.
Thank you for your time with united Phil. Honestly always looked at you as a true warrior who always wore his heart on his sleeve
Once a RED, always a RED!!
Great lad and a real player, nothing less than 100%
Love him🙏 what a fighter,so humble. I think he will be a great manager. I really think he wanted to do well for Utd,God bless ya Phil your an inspiration ❤
Great to see him speaks up on the mental issue, I wish him success in his managing career after what he've been through.
Excellent interview. Too many people have pre-formed ideas about Phil Jones and this interview will blow most of those people out of the water. PJ is clearly a highly intelligent footballer. I thought he came across really well and it was enlightening to hear his side of the story and his journey through the highs and lows. I hope PJ makes it into coaching or management, he has a lot to offer the game.
Thanks for listening to me as a fan really wanted to hear this man give his story
Phil, you made us Utd fans proud of your performance. Most Mancuian Utd fans know when they see genuine players. Salute
I’m a Christian footballer, and I say Christian because I only became a Christian 2 years ago and before that I was one of the people doing online bullying and real life bullying also and I know now that it’s really not okay, I’m happy that Phil is doing better❤
God bless you brother❤
So well spoken. Even the Overlap interview with Maguire. You never know what goes on with others mentally or personally.
I swear the people who spoke about Phil the most was his own teams fans. What a guy he is man great character and just a honest footballer who just wanted to play
Unbelievable to see what goes through players heads at times. People are too quick to judge without seeing the bigger picture. Wish him all the best 👍🏼
I went through the same issue as Phil but no where near his level, I knew football was over when I couldn’t kick a ball without excruciating pain in my knee I was always embarrassed and felt like I let my team mates down where I couldn’t play a half regularly
I'd had some sympathy for Phil's injury woes recently but this interview signified how much respect I have for him and you realise it was so much more than the narrative. Hope he gets a chance to help other young players and provide a different narrative on injury prone players in the media
Really Really amazing interview. Thank you for this
Good on you Phil this stuff takes bottle and you never lacked in that department!
You were just very unlucky with injuries but still had a better career than many so called superstars.
Good luck with your future
I love you Phil Jones , I allways love you behaviour ❤️. Keep working and be happy ❤️
Love this. Well done Phil. Such a role model, on and off the pitch 👊
How was he a role model? What you talking about??
@@dondamon4669 100% professionel, never bitched or moaned about ANYTHING, even though people were giving him so much shit, because of his injuries (which you cant always control) and because he made funy faces during tackles and stuff. He got so much shit from all directions. And also, people seem to think he was alot worse of a player than he actually was. Many people could learn alot from him, you included.
@@madsnielsen390He stole a living at United for years.
@@Floppy-Phallus He stole nothing, the club offered him a contract they shouldnt have, cant fucking blame him for accepting that, so would you and without hesitation also, so get off your high horse.
@@madsnielsen390deffo not a role model he was a joke
It was bittersweet for you Phil. I still remember being so excited for the way you were playing at 19, SAF said you were going to be the best.
I thought it was too early, but I did believe you were going to be one of the best Premier League defenders.
Sad to see it didn't pan out, but I would give so much to have the career you had. Best of luck in whatever you do next
Great interview..Not a United Fan but must admit the way the press and united fans spoke of him and the way social media hammered him , i thought he was a joke....forgot how good he was for Blackburn and United in the early days unfortunate with injuries and unfairly treated. Comes across as a great lad hopefully the coaching goes well and he goes on to be a tap manager/coach
Excellent and insightful interview.
I wish Pill Jones the very best in his future career.
I remember watching him play for Blackburn against us (mountain at the back), I remember SAF signing him and thinking we have got the next JT, and he was solid in his first couple of seasons, best young CB in PL. And maybe everything would have worked out had SAF stayed for a few more years. Thank you for your service Phil!!
As a United fan that saw Phil Jones signed for the club when I was a kid up till seeing him retire when I'm now 26, I feel so sorry for Phil to be very unlucky with injuries and not able to reach his full potential. Now that he's in the coaching setup, I sincerely hope this new path of football will be a success for him and gets to achieve what he couldn't as a player.
I don't think you've enough advertisements, I think you can fit more in for sure, is there a limit?
Stop crying and download brave and block ads it's 2024 and you still don't know you can block ads
I loved Phil's commitment, desire, willingness to win and determination .
Inspiring insights, shared with such authentic humility. Warrior spirit 🙌🏽
I would prefer fans to boo the players more in the stadium (if they don't play well) rather than give abuse in social media.
Always gave 100% on the pitch, was a decent footballer too, the mind is a powerful tool, but also so destructive. Even with all the injury problems Phil has won in life, to even become a professional footballer is such a rare achievement 😊
He won the lotto with his last contract . Honestly be thankful. Nobody else gets sick pay to the levels he received
Hopefully Phil tou see this. You were a champ at United and I wish you all the best in your next steps of your career
You will always be a legend for us. You gave it your all. Social media is a cancer to the world.
Hopefully he becomes a successful coach. Judging by this interview, I'm pretty sure he will be a fantastic people manager!
All the best brother, thanks for all you done for united
Jones was a true example of Red, he gives out everything❤❤ Respect!
Absolutely loved this podcast ! Respect Phil so down to earth and well spoken ❤
Comes across very well and articulate. The abuse he received simply disgusting and simply fuelled by jealousy. All the best to you and thank you for your efforts at our beloved club and who knows maybe one day a return to the Old Trafford dug out??
Top man Phil Jones a true united man , it is sad his career ended due to his knee problem. All the best Phil.
Always seemed a great humble lad. This confirms he is
Only thing that let him down was retiring after his contract ran out, made me think he was never bothered about playing
Fair play Phil. Clearly a really good guy. Injuries screwed his career but did all he could. Best of luck in the future
Puts a lot of things into context. There are plenty of things that go on behind the scenes that we can't even begin to wrap our fingers around.
Why do we believe them and sob for them as soon as they open their mouths?? He could have retired years ago and stopped taking money without working for it. He took the money which comes from the fans and now complains about said fans.
@@ThatGuy-tx4vm Name one player who retired in the middle of their top flight contract. Blame United for giving him a ludicrous one. Not him for taking it.
@@ThatGuy-tx4vmonly a United fan would be entitled enough to think a player should give up on their contractually obligated wages so to make you the fans happy
@@MattMajcan immorality is immorality. He is being blamed just as normal people are blamed for similar stuff. Normal people aren't allowed the luxuries Jones was... Yet he now has the gall to complain.
@@ThatGuy-tx4vm demanding to be paid what you're owed is not immoral..its what any human being deserves. expecting someone to give up their own money just to make you happy is immoral.
I remember signing Phil Jones in FM10 or something. Beast of a player , captained my side to multiple leagues and Champion Leagues. Retired at the club too.
Quality interview all round... great points for any person to take in and apply in every walk of life 🎉
