I LOVE ALL THE PLACES YOU GO, BUT HOW YOU ALL WORK TOGETHER, TO SOLVE ALL PROBLEMS AS A GREAT TEAM TO GET IT DONE. THANK YOU ALL FOR SHARING TOGETHER AS ONE.
Nice editing Brian. Delos videos are the best SV on RUclips. You have a highly skilled team and you seem to know how to tell the story with the perfect balance of talking and cinematography.
Flyin' Brian has replaced most everything on the boat more than a few times in all these years and miles, especially those d@mn impellers. There's a saying that you learn things by "spending time on the water", the man knows his craft and exudes confidence and calm. The perfect Captain. Wishing the crew best of luck with their new adventures and baby on the way - :-)
I also admire bryans calm approach as captain, not just in this vid but others as well. What is his background/trade that enables him to fix these problems?
His college degree was in electrical engineering (which has helped tremendously), then he was a software coder, both of which require a very logical mind. As I remember it, he got a job early on doing electrical work on boats, which would have yielded a depth of additional experience.
Mr Brian is a great and true boat captain, I enjoyed the way he deals with adversities at sea especially when something breaks and he can fix it with he's bare hand . Great video
Old salty sailor taught me once to add dish soap in the impeller housing and before you attach the discharge hose to pour water in to prime the pump action. Seeing the soap over the side at your discharge lets ya know ya got the thing turning and pumping. Sea friendly soap of course. Learned a new trick that day and I've never stop learning new stuff at sea. Thanks for sharing your "how to's" guys..I really like those episodes.
I was taught the same, its the same issue with bearings, those first few moments of use, heat, and friction matter to the longevity of the part. Good initial lube is important, dish soap and water help lubricate the impeller until the water starts flowing, keeping it from heating up, and they heat up quick without water!
Bryan never ceases to amaze me with his knowledge and abilities. My man can fix about anything and figure things out. Love this channel! You guys always have great content that I look forward to every week!
Such a great vid this week @svdelos. It was amazing to meet you all and to sail on SV Delos. The entire Precision Sails Team is looking forward to working with you and hearing your review of the sail cloth as you sail through the Caribbean.
Always love your videos. Bryan's drone footage was great. Love watching the dolphins welcoming Delos to anchorage. Sending my love to all and wishing you always safe sails.
I think I'm suffering from Delosis when I caught myself enjoying to watch Capt'n Bryawn's repair skills on mid-ocean just as much as the underwater videos and drone footage. You guys have a magical touch on editing. Seriously awesome music during the fixing of the air lock! I love Blue's contribution "that's how they make their money... seals" :D
Delos is BACK back :) Absolutely everything from the days of old was present in this episode. The filming, narrating, editing and especially the drone shots. Delos is so beautiful, and your Canadian sail makers are just bloody awesome. Their sails have turned Delos into aerodynamic sleek beast. Gratz Kazza and Brian on becoming parents, a new adventure awaits. I cannot wait to see that one unwind ............here??? Love you guys, you are the best by far :)
F*@king AWESOME! Thanks guys for the great ep, and congratulations Kazza and Capt Brain on the family extension (super excited for you guys and enjoy the time in Sweden). You guys rock!
As much as I have loved the story of the crew all these years, this particular episode reflects very well on your love of SV Delos, herself. Your editing - and the much appreciated drone footage effort - really puts her in great light. For me, a classic SV Delos, surely - as it has the essence of the entire experience. If you love this episode too, and haven't yet done so, start from the beginning and watch in order. When you get back here, you might know better what I'm ranting about. Well done, SV Delos crew, and shall she long sail free!
You guys are pretty inspiring. My wife and I have always had boats, some small, some medium size and that’s about it. I had A aortic aneurysm rupture a few months ago and we have decided life is too short. We’re trading our 30 footer up to a 45 or 50 foot cruiser and taking off to the Caribbean after hurricane season. Thanks for the inspiration.
I love that the video is a lot longer than 15 minutes! And I totally missed Brian’s narration ! His voice is so soothing. Kazaa I’m in total agreement about being stressed over the drone! I stress just watching! Lol
Words escape me to communicate the overwhelming exhilaration this weeks episode provided. True Delos style has returned and I LOVE every second of it.💙 Thrilled you've returned. Brotherly love 🤟
All I can say is I love you guys. I'm a sailor in Destin FL.......a shity one but still a sailor lmao and I can't stop watching y'all vids happy sailing .... Life is ment to be lived and y'all are doing it 💓💓💓😊😊😊
Fantastic episode! Great flow! Love the integration of the boat repairs heading into the dolphin visitation. Looking forward to the beautiful location of your next episode!
The new format and film editing style of this video has an 8mm film flavor, and is complimented by the raw, less edited close up view of Delos. I like it! I like it a lot!
I can't believe I just sat through that entire impeller repair. Captivating because I know I may be forced to one day do the same. Thanks for reminding my brain of the bearing replacement and the air purge afterward.
nice update! A small tip for the amazing drone flying, to ensure good signal quality keep those antennas pointed flat side to the drone, not to the ground. You guys rock! Greetings from Greece
You probably don't spend much time reading these comments but I enjoy these videos immensely for the obvious reasons and less obvious. I never spent any time on a sailboat don't know anything about sailing however I spent 18 years in the Navy. I'm very impressed at the way you're able to fix common problems with your prime mover and the fact that you always have spare parts. It's quite obvious that you've learned over the years that being prepared for anything is the way to go. Anchors away my friends! VP-26 Tridents
Hey Scott, actually we spend quite a bit of time reading the comments :) Thanks so so much for watching and wishing you all the best and thank you for your service. Fair winds- Brian

Hey Scott, actually we spend quite a bit of time reading the comments :) Thanks so so much for watching and wishing you all the best and thank you for your service. Fair winds- Brian
I am back because you guys are back! This is the best video of this season... Good Title... Good Content... Good Editing... This video is back to “old” Delos Style... The correct opening music... Good mix of content subjects... 30 minute video... Bravo!
Absolutely love the cowboy hat Mr Brady!! Lool❤👍⛵🌊🕶 that's awesome precision sails gave you those sails to test. Its great for them and great for you guys. It's the way it should be.
I am sorry but I get it. Do you perhaps have a hammer on board? I am hardly one to criticize. I moved a SV from Gig Harbor to LA. Shame on me as I did not check the tool kit until I needed it. ALL METRIC and the boat was ALL STANDARD. My bad
On my Perkins 4-236 I had a sea water flow alarm after the raw water filter. i highly recommend it for your operations. Some are adjustable. I also had a 205 F overtemp switch instead of 225. I also had a temp gauge. I set out to cross to the Bahamas one night and the alarm went off. There was a cluster of Sargasso weed seeds stuck in the intake of the sea water filter. Cheap protection.
Bryan, I am always amazed at the calm ,cool, it happened ,let's get it fixed approch you have when something breaks on the boat. It is no wonder your crew can be so at ease. You don't swear a little bit and jump up and down, then cut that portion out do you? Just kidding but can at least send you a hammer? Congratulations to you and Karin. Congratulations to Brady and Blue also for their taking Delos on their own voyage. Wishing you all sunny days, full moon nights, and smooth waters.
The "leaving friends" parts remind of the best parts of the film Captain Ron. I am certain that Blue is correct. You will be welcome around the world forever.
Great episode guys and gals! I liked every topic you covered. As to the underwater volcano problem, I realized that one of your favorite things can help explain the problem. That thing is BEER. In a big enough glass try floating a tiny model boat on the "head" (aka foam). Unless it is light as a feather the tiny boat will sink. Besides that I'm glad you got your motor running again. Seems like that rubber impeller has failed at least 4-5 times over the years - from what I remember. Somebody could make some money inventing a better system.
I got so tired of jacking with impellers on my Yanmar, I installed a filtered electric water pump to cool the engine. No more worries. the only problem was find a belt that fit the new setup without the impeller drive. Just a 12v RV water pump identical to the one that pressurizes water for sinks and showers. More energy efficient as well. relay controlled house-water pump would switch it over anytime the engine water temp rose about 196. Set off a visual and audible alarm at the helm. cheap RV parts same stuff as "yacht" parts but with redneck prices.
I haven’t watched this episode yet...I’m a year behind, trying to catch up. I just watched episode 145 (or close to it), where he replaced the water pump impeller in Namibia. I noticed he got some of the impeller blades pointed in the wrong direction...didn’t think that would last very long. I wonder if this latest fix was a result of that?
seidelp there was an episode where Capt. Brian explained it didn’t matter which way the blades pointed. They would just fold over and go the correct direction. Just realized this was that episode.
@@737MaxPilot , they fold over the right way the first revolution. It doesn't matter which way they point when installed. It took me a few years to figure that out, I admit!

Blue really outdid herself filming this one. Having a bit of sailing experience myself I know that fixing/dealing with stuff is what it is all about and her questions and interest in the events really showed she knew what was important to film. I love it when your stuff breaks because it may make my life easier some day. Thanks for sharing Delos!
I’ve been a mechanic most of my adult life and Brian’s fixes are very impressive for a guy without that type of work in his back ground. (I’m assuming) Good job buddy! Love the videos and the positive energy in them. Keep it up.
Nice for people to see how repairs are an on-going part of sailing and boat ownership. Those who think it is all a long vacation should know better. Worth the footage and time. Life is not all about parties. It's nice to see how well you know your system (Brian). Neptune was proud of you guys (provided a Dolphin escort in : ). Nice episode!
This is the first time I got to see the impeller in action , that's a lot of movement ,like that of tire tread, for a part. May want to try something with less friction ,as the earlier comment about electric water pump. I see you changing this part on a routine basis. Nice to see the crew tweak the new sails. Very interesting topic about the Kick 'em Jenny. Had to watch some other video about it. Droning in the dingy looked cool and got some great shots of Delos crashing over the waves.

Nice editing Brian. Delos videos are the best SV on RUclips. You have a highly skilled team and you seem to know how to tell the story with the perfect balance of talking and cinematography.
Having replaced impellers at sea before Capt Bryan has so much more patience than me. I have never watched a more calm level headed Capt. than Bryan.
Yeah he would be fun to sail with he is so calm no matter what happens.
Flyin' Brian has replaced most everything on the boat more than a few times in all these years and miles, especially those d@mn impellers. Yup. Very cool laid back guy.
The drone and bow videos were really nice! The various perspectives helps viewers get to know SV Delos much better.
Mr Brian is a great and true boat captain, I enjoyed the way he deals with adversities at sea especially when something breaks and he can fix it with he's bare hand . Great video

Yeah me too... brian is verry nice people karin also... delos🙂
Come here in philippines again... after covid.. ..god bless guys always take care

Always love your videos. Bryan's drone footage was great. Love watching the dolphins welcoming Delos to anchorage. Sending my love to all and wishing you always safe sails.

They are an amazing company and go to the ends of the earth to make it happen. They can make and or suggest anything you may need.
They are sail salesmen
