- After our introduction to kiteboarding in Union Island we set sail North towards Bequia. Along the sail we encounter some strong head winds but make the best of it by enjoying the ride up at the bow. Not knowing what to expect in Bequia we find ourselves diving an incredible cave and getting to explore the famous MoonHole Compound! We’ve been lookin for a Delos Home Base… Could this be it??!

I used to sail to Bequia with some friends back in the 70s. We became good friends with a local kid that brought us some mangous to our boat and refused to charge us for them. His name was Victor and he told us that he was an orphan and lived with his grandmother. We became so fond of the kid that we took him along in our sailing trip around the islands with his grandma's permission. Later on he ended up in Puerto Rico and we sponsored him for residence and later on citizenship. We learned at that time that locals used to hunt for whales in small boats and share the meat among Bequia residents. Usually they hunted about 2 or 3 whales every year. Of all the island in the Caribbean, Bequia followed by St. Barth and St. Lucia, are my favorites. Now at 72, I sail with you guys, so thanks for having me in Delos through your great videos.
I'm from Bequia! Glad you love our little slice of paradise, hope you still visit.
When I was four (1965), I lived on the island of Bequia for half a year while my father wrote a physics book. I remember going to moon hole and meeting the original owners, that experience changed my life! I eventually got into scuba diving, sailing, and living an alternative life! Your wonderful documentary about Moon Hole just brought back some very intense awesome memories... Thank You!
ps, I’m also buying a Valliant 40’, and heading off to sail the South Pacific. Your beautifuly done videos are getting me phyched to get back into sailing after a few decades of being a Land Lubber! I would love to meet you guys some day, perhaps at Moon Hole!
Thanks so much for all of your videos, Robert Huggins (Bert :-)
Such a beauty....so marvellous.Do great that there are people out there living their dreams of a respectful selfsufficient Life towards nature...a fifty years ago.
Thank you so much from the bottom of my heart.
Very well done, Team Delos! I have loved Bequia and Moonhole since my first visit in 1973. FYI the Bequia whalers are allowed to hunt by the International Whaimg Commission and average one whale per year. The good news is that since the 1960's the humpback population has made a strong comeback and have been off the endangered list for decades. If you would like more information about Bequia and its whaling culture may I suggest you watch "The Wind That Blows", a one hour doc friends helped me with years ago. We started in 1989 and finished in 2012. There are a few shots featuring Moonhole and Tom Johnston, the creator and king, is one of the many interviewees. We lived at Moonhole for a year. It was magical but as to moving there... look before you leap! Bravo on your videos.
As a former cruiser who spent only a few days in Bequia, I loved the underwater shots and especially enjoyed learning the history of Moon Hole.
Wow wow 😲 I’m a subscriber for several years and never saw this episode until today. wow! Sure brought back such old memories as a kid visiting moon-hole with the Johnson’s . My grandfather was approached by the Johnson’s back in 1963 about this unique place and bought moon hole 38 acres, for the sum of. $2600 EC dollars the equivalent of $1000 US dollar, and went about building these very interesting homes. The Johnson’s and my grandfather Claud Hazell remained friends until my gramps, passed in 1989. Today I still have cousins and friends who works for the Moonhole company. Wow its amazing to see this place after 40+ years. You guys did a wonderful job filming.
This is a great example of what you guys do best: showing the links among the oceans, the land, biology, and culture. Keep up the great work.
I learn so much from watching your videos. Places we have never heard about and may never see for ourselves, you guys bring them to us with a story. It is great!
The Moon Hole seems like a beautiful place to live and grow spiritually. I own a place my Wife and I built in The Apalaintia Mountains that we carved and built into the side of a mountain face overlooking a secluded Lake. Since my Wife passed away I have found myself spending more time there and am considering Moving out there permanently and am looking into my options on Solar Power Solar Heating and Rain collection to make it my permanent home.
Do you have any pictures?
I second question about pictures. Mountain-side home overlooking the lake IS a dream.
Sounds very cool I would also like to see some pictures I am from Lansing Michigan
Bequia🇻🇨⚓🙌🚢. #Thanks for visiting my home. It's truly beautiful! #moonhole
Dear Crew, and especially Mr. Brady (known to send back a "thanks - for a comment"). Your cine photography just gets better as we all share your adventures and I feel like almost family and just love ❤️ you all. I consider you all as the dream team and you rate very highly in my diverse subscriptions; I'm not just blowing smoke either. God bless you all and stay safe. Pete
Hey thanks so much for the kind words, that means so much to us. It really inspires it to continue editing these types of videos! Fair winds and wishing you the best- Brian SV Delos
Never ever fail to put a smile on my face...
Much love Delos Crew...
That definitely looks like the perfect Delos compound. It's everything you stands for. I think you should make an offer.
I really see you guys there... its so intriguing and wonderful to fill feature videos … make it your compound...
Man, how many people would see this and want to visit.
Classic Delos editing. It has not been this good in a long time.
thanks for the love!
Seconded, except... no one wants to hear underwater full-face mask commentary. It's way better to add audio afterwards and just keep the ocean noise in the background, especially if the commentary isn't particularly meaningful or audible.
@@picsordidnthappen good point. Never thought about it. Maybe a balance in between would be a nice option ⚓⛵🏖
Christ, everybody today is a fucking critic. Just let Delos do what they want to do. Don't like it? Don't watch. Pretty simple.
@@svdelos 💖😎👍👍💖
This is the absolute best episode. Thank you so much for sharing with us. My favorite edit in probably a year or two. The music was great.
Keep up the good work guys, I'm really enjoying keeping up with you.
I love watching your videos. I find them so relaxing.
Left my bigscreen to come over and leave a comment. Love to support you with my miniscule contribution for each video i VIEW. I hardly ever watch network TV. Maybe just to catch a news report every now and then. You are on the cutting edge of the best programming out there. Keep up the good work. Keep cool ....don't burn out! Moon Hole looks like the perfect place for a Delos compound.
You guys, this is one of your best episodes. The Moonhole segment was really awesome.
After 200 plus episodes. The moon hole community is my favorite thus far. I may very well be your neighbor one day.
Edit: 200 plus episodes after binge watching the first episode a week ago today. Found this page after watching Sailing Zatara and other sailing families.
Thank you so much Brady, I am so happy to see you editing again.
I love this episode.. thanks Delos. You are so creative and fun. Thank you... Very cool..
You put some love in this one Brady. Nice job!!
9:23 LOL
If you call showing himself on the throne love... then yip!
I took a break from the videos for a bit so I could save up a bunch of episodes and binge watch them, but I'm already not looking forward to catching up. No other channel captures the vibe of happiness like this one does. Great work as always.
#SailingZatara was my first sailing channel to get me in this world great Binge series...pretty sure they were inspired by these guys too, but kind of different vibe as it is a sailing family but they are fun and adventurous and most important very similar editing and story telling style
Been following you since you were in a Cleetus video. It’s awesome to see you in these comments again. Hope you have an opportunity to sail soon - though I’d miss seeing you going sideways and everything it takes to get there.
I guess im asking randomly but does someone know a tool to get back into an instagram account??
I somehow lost my login password. I love any help you can give me!
@Musa Rhett Instablaster ;)
@Joziah Bo Thanks for your reply. I got to the site through google and im trying it out atm.
Seems to take quite some time so I will get back to you later with my results.
I loved this video. You really sail . . . and the history behind the cave . . . clap clap clap
I have a tip for you Delos moonshiners you will want to try at least once - NIFTY LITTLE OAK BARRELS FROM A WINE SUPPLIER!! I kept one on my sloop to turn cheap rum into gold and eliminate hazardous glass and tacky plastic bottles at the same time. You will easily find several suppliers of US hand made solid oak staved barrels of 1 gallon, 2 gallon or larger. I carved the boat name into one end. I chose the neat little wooden spigot with waxed cork seal packing around the tap lever that works great and never leaks. This is spill proof. Mine never leaked a drop after a water soaking. It is a thing of beauty and sensual to have a 100% wood huggable barrel you can tip back for that authentic rum/moonshine whiskey experience. The life of any party no doubt! You can choose galvanized steel or brass hoops and there are cradles for secure but decorative stowage. Mine was unvarnished and released an angel's share over time but somehow it didn't reduce the proof as much as the water content. You can buy them varnished too, may want to experiment. In these small internally charred barrels the aging time for oak flavors is fast when they are new. I'd consider that more respectable than oak flavors from a bottled additive. This is your first abandon ship item and it is indestructible. Just don't drop it on your foot!!
Carol, bless her little heart.
This is one of the best episodes.......just love you guys
Wow , what a place !
You guys take us to the most stunning locations
Thankyou ⛵
Best ever! So awesome! We put it on our route for sure!!!
Welcome to sailing power...Delos calls, the seas part and doors open...in lies the beauty in nature, a dream, a vision of self-sufficiency, and the history in such an accomplishment. Brady, you rocked another great Delos expedition. Thank you, and fair winds on the Atlantic crossing.
What an incredible place that “Moonhole” is..!!😎👍✅
Good job, Brady -- an editing-intense ep. Great stuff. Hope you find the home you're looking for.
I'm blessed to live in Bequia!
I'll be looking out for you guys with my binoculars when you guys visit again!
Drenched Crew learning the lines on Delos for their own Sylfia adventures. So cool
Love these people.
Perfect! Stuck on an hour commute home & Delos drops a vid, you guys just MADE MY DAY! Luv ya!
I have one word, Awesome!! 👍
Best one yet folks. You have found friggin shangrala. All you need is a blender and lots of ice and booze. Congrats- safe travels and fair winds! LIKE IT!! I LIKE IT ALLOT!! Greetings from the shores of Lake Huron. Jamie
Outstanding as usual another Delos therapy session! Your UV problem 8:48 can be fixed by using 303 Aerospace Protectant it works on cloth, leather, vinyl you name it. My 25 y/o Grand Canyon tested raft still shines and looks new!
Delos Vibe of this vid is hella on point
I've been watching Sailing SV Delos for quite a number of years (I would be a © Patreon, but I'm 70 and on Social Security - two unfortunate disadvantages). But you seem so adventureous, I have a crazy idea, and you are the best people to try it out on (you probably have most of the equipment on Delos, already). I would like to see if you could fill a scuba tank with propane, take it ashore with regular scuba tanks, some light weight firebricks, a plastic 3D printer, aluminum (or brass), and plaster of paris, and build a kiln and safely do some Lost PLA casting on the beach to make parts for Delos - like Captain Nemo did in 20,000 Leagues Under The Sea by Jules Verne. That would be exciting. Please forward this to Sailing La Vagabonde (if you are not busy having a baby). Only thing is they don't have scuba tanks like you do.
A great getaways story to add to your episodes and I imagine Moonhole will be getting many calls soon. Too sad of a story about the absence of whales in the area and the under laying theme of over fishing. Seeing whales from that view would have been a huge plus.
Brian i have been watching for a long time, watching you ride the anchor down was special. thx to you and delos for all the great moments. Cheers from Humboldt Ca
Editing on this is amazing. I've watched tons of La Vagabonde but THIS channel is next level. Holy shit it's edited like tv series! props to the editors
#sailingzatara I think is inspired by them if you need a new binge...Rough start but Renee, Keith and the family tell a great story of sailing around the world.... I was there first now I’m all over these guys...lockdown in Canada. Follow this dream for now.
Brady, you nailed it kiddo in true Delos style. 👍
9:23
Heard a little banjo number that made me wonder if you guys also watch "my self reliance". Great RUclips channel.
Fitzy Holden I love that channel also!!
Thought the same
Made me want to watch Bonnie & Clyde and Deliverance.
This is the comment I was looking for 😁👍❣
Delos crew fuckin ups the ante!! Great episode! You all are living the dream...thank the universe for you sharing your amazing experiences. Peace, love and light to all the Delos tribe worldwide!

Nicely done Mr. Brady!! Nicely done indeed!
Also hoping that the popularity of this channel will inspire others to think a bit differently about life and goals.
Excellent as usual!!!

That was epic right up to the shot of mr b doing the old nut tuck on the shitter.
WOW ... your productions quality just LEAPS from strength to strength ... Well done guys!
After three times watching this video, along with several bourbons, I am in awe of this adventure. So jealous!!!
This is extremely inspirational and humbling! Seeing people be a part of the earth rather than a ruler of it. I strive to some day be a part of something so beautiful. Thanks Delos crew for pushing these ideals and lifestyle!
Much love
Shea
@6:36 One of those rare times the camera seems to catch the depth of the wave, very cool.
Ahoy SV delos another beautifully captured episode... apparently moonhole has captured your attention and possibly your heart I wish you the greatest outcome for a home base for the delos tribe... peace love unity respect water is life thank you for sharing
Holy sh**! I don't think they could've found a more perfect location and designed the houses any better.
I'd argue that point... it's uninhabitable and has been for most of its existence.
32:09
Great episode! What a fascinating place. I could see the Delos crew using it as a base.
Another amazing video!💕😊👍👏👏⚓⛵🍻💕
Oh my god what a awsome place. One of my favorite videos. It fits you all perfect. Thanks for sharing it with us your fans .also loved the dive videos to . From Steve stott in sutherlin Oregon u.s.a.
If ever there was a paradise, this would be it. If I'd have heard about this place in the 70's...
World class editing job Mr. Brady! By Neptune your getting good at this.
Entirely envious of how you guys live,And I've been here for 4 or 5 years now. P.s. Thanks for blurring Senior Brady's moon-whole!
That was some ride!!! Always giving us incredible emotions!!! Cheers to the crew! Viva SV Delos!!!
After visiting Bequia twice now, I have advised family and friends that, if I ever turn up missing, I could probably be found in Bequia. The Moon Hole has always intrigued me so thanks so much for the documentary there. This is by far, for me, the best video you have ever produced. Put it on a DVD and I'll buy it!! Safe travels.
Wow!!! What a dream House. Whale bone vertebrae as seats!!! Classic!!!!!
Brian that was an awesome anchorage!!!👌
Great episode guys! It's nice to see a little something of Kazza's background be expanded on too! Right on!

Fantastic episode Delos! Thank you so much.
Nothing like a beautiful Moon Hole! What an incredible place. I'd be nice to see the area "re-populated" with nature minded people. A Delos Compound? Hmmmmm. : - )

What a place to be able to live. Thanks so much for sharing it with us.
On hold for Memorial Day. Tomany newbies on the water. What a gift to behold your video.
Incredible.
I was there in the 90's. No road, walk a 1/2 mile on the beach to get there. We got tour and and a drink on the top patio, Atlantic view on one side and a Caribbean view on the other. They had a pet gecko who would come out and have a drink with you. I wanted a unit there too!
You guys are getting better and better every time. Thank you
Dude was riding the bow like a big jet ski!!
Awsome!!
Moon Hole is one of the most amazing places I've been. Thanks for showing it off.
Stunning place. I think this is the first time I've seen (what looked like) envy in Brian and Brady's eyes...
I do believe this has been the best adventure spot yet! Looked up the Moonhole.... WOW!
What a groovy place to live.
One tox - Never gets old at the beginning ! such an incredible tune !
I have been watching you guys for a long time now and moonhole is the best of all your videos. Enchanting !!!
Totally agree. The best of the best. Incredible editing and the macro was out of this world. Most professional underwater video I have ever seen - well worth waiting for. Love you guys!
Good to see everyone looking well if after a spell. Enjoyed the Manhole Villas visit most.
One of my favorite episodes!! I would love to live in Moonhole! Love it!!
