Tbh a van is far more practical than any other vehicle type. Easy to get in and out, comfortable, and the roomiest. In fact, in many Asian countries many rich people ride in luxury vans instead of sedans.

@@treywainman he did bring his own transport though. There are Dutch plates on the car, as well as the accompanying cars. Most other delegations had Belgian plated cars. Rutte probably came in straight from Den Haag.

Yes the cars are extremely armored, it can stop almost all caliber bullets and all the secret service carry assault rifles under their coats, along with snipers surrounding the building. The president also wear a new kind of thin kevlar into their suits now, so a bullet won't go directly into the president.
We don’t usually try to kill our heads of government here in Europe unlike the US so armour isn’t needed that much

The presidential limo can't be all that comfortable. The level of armor must require a suspension so stiff you are going to feel every crack in the road. And it would also encroach on the passenger space making for a pretty confined ride.
The “Beast” is based on the frame of a Chevrolet Suburban (SUV) with body parts of an actual Cadillac build on. The suspension is pretty comfortable I would say. I just don’t want to be the driver because even with power steering it is hard already to drive a MB S680 Guard and that has only a weight of 4.2 tons.

Yep. It's because diesel is much less flammable than regular gasoline. Because the car weighs so much, it won't go above 60mph, and it takes a full 15 seconds to reach that speed. So almost any car in the world could outrun it.

It's actually a armored truck designed to look like a Cadillac . That thing is 18 feet long and weighs almost 8 tons, a regular car e engine wouldn't move it.
