He always soloed one verse too long and tried to pull off licks he couldn’t q-u-i-t-e handle. Dwight’s current band, 3Pears, is a much more “share the music” and maximize the tune, not the solos group. And I agree - no one comes close to managing the rock-inflected Bakersfield idiom as Dwight Yoakam...a superb musician and a superb performer.
I've been a fan since the first album, and Dwight's voice sounds better than ever! And he still has the same stage presence and pipe-cleaner legs he had 25 years ago! The saint of Bakersfield is alive and well, and the current CW "stars" can't touch the Yoak!

You also to give credit to the 60's country singer/song writer and guitarist Alvis "Buck" Edgers Owens Jr originally from the dust bowl and grew up in a very dirt poor family with nothing but drive & ambition for Dwight's cool factor.
He calls his brand of music psychobilly. He blends hardcore country with classic rock of the 60's & 70's; it grabs you by the neck and makes you listen.

I remember when I first discovered Dwight Yoakam. I was just starting to seriously listen to music and I heard A Thousand Miles From Nowhere on the radio. I thought damn this guy is good, I need to look him up. I did and I was hooked. It was one hit after another. Fast As You, Guitars Cadillacs, I Sang Dixie, and so many great others that I love. I have yet to hear a bad song from this man, I don't think it's possible. He is also extremely underrated my book. This guy probably sings all 25 of my top 25 favorite songs of all time lol

If anyone gets the chance to see his concert, you will not be disappointed. He is fantastic, I've seen him 2 times the first time in Atlanta GA I had a back stage pass and got to meet him. The second time it was outdoors in Alabama. It was hot outside he played about a minute then paused saying, "Ya'll it id SO HOT IN ALABAMA" THE crowd went wild, He has some of the best songs ever.

Even though Dierks Bentley is THOROUGHLY outclassed here, he did WAY better than what Sam Hunt did. It's crazy how much more important showmanship was during Dwight's career, and it shows with their performances. He's got some serious moves that Dierks Bentley could never touch.

If anyone gets the chance to see his concert, you will not be disappointed. He is fantastic, I've seen him 2 times the first time in Atlanta GA I had a back stage pass and got to meet him. The second time it was outdoors in Alabama. It was hot outside he played about a minute then paused saying, "Ya'll it id SO HOT IN ALABAMA" THE crowd went wild, He has some of the best songs ever.
