- Sammy Hagar performs "Three Lock Box" at Farm Aid in Champaign, Illinois on September 22, 1985.
A performance from the first Farm Aid benefit concert. Willie Nelson, Neil Young and John Mellencamp founded Farm Aid and serve on the board of directors. The three agreed that family farmers were in dire need of assistance and decided to plan a concert for America. The show was put together in six weeks and was held on September 22, 1985 in Champaign, Illinois before a crowd of 80,000 people. It raised over $9 million for America's family farmers. Performers included Bob Dylan, Billy Joel, B.B. King, Loretta Lynn, Roy Orbison, Tom Petty and many more.
Dave Matthews joined Farm Aid's Board of Directors in 2001 to help further Farm Aid's mission of keeping family farmers on their land.

fantastic! i love this song,anyway,the studio version of the song is much better,headsets dont work when u are jumping around so much,i have great respect for Sammy HAGAR!

It passes by, one second after another, same as it's always done. I was three years old in 1985, and to this day I can't get enough of Hagar's stuff. He just strikes me as the kinda guy whose outlook on life is something I'd want to have.
Agreed! DLR is an excellent show-man but, a singer ---he is not. Sammy is an excellent front-man, singer, guitar player, and songwriter.
Yes, the sound man must have sucked, but Sammy puts on a real rock show, ten times better than Roth ever thought of.

@ominousinc he does seem like a big dummy in the beginning of this video clip, AND I think he ruined the Van Halen I loved when he took over the vocals, but... You HAVE to give Sammy Hagar props for his super serious skills on the 6 string. The dude can just shred and tear up some lead guitar. He's one of the best. Which is why I never understood why he ruined Van Halen's mojo by joining them? So, Hagar is an egomaniac but he can shred with the best.

You would figure someone with all that money would spend some on a wardrobe that wasn't put together by Stevie Wonder. Thank god Willie Nelson and Neil Young was there to clean up after what looks to be an aerobics class by Hagar the Horrible.
