We throw the “musical genius” label around a lot but in Adam’s case, it so fits. Big fan.
Man, I’m glad Adam is still around. I became a fan of his work when he played with Miles Davis years ago.😊
Adam Holzman, one of my most favorite keyboard players. He is so creative and always comes up with something new that still sound a lot like the record , and that is different on almost every concert.

Truly amazing. Such a sophisticated and gentle top musician. Bought his first Soloalbum decades ago. Happy, to see him around and Steven Wilson obviously knows, whom to trust musically. Thanks for posting.

Adam is a bad ass! He’s also a really nice guy. I bought his latest solo Cd at the merch booth at a SW show and he was there and signed it! I love his work!

Certe volte a molti tastieristi sono talmente affascinati e ipnotizzati dalle tastiere che nonostante si possa fare tutto questo con una tastiera e un computer , si auto convincono che le sonorità che cercano siano solo quelle che ottengono con tutti questi strumenti.
La verità è che , specialmente noi tastieristi siamo tutti malati psichici di suoni.
Ho 60 anni ed ho attraversato gli anni d'oro della trasformazione musicale da analogico a digitale.
Noi ci portavamo in giro (avevo 16 /17 anni ) dei camion di strumenti.
Dal più modesto tastierista che lavorava con gruppi orchestrine più o meno grandi nelle feste di piazza in giro per l'Italia, ai tastieristi dei grandi nomi che si esibivano in stadi o piazze importanti.
Ricordo i vari Emerson, Wakeman , Wright, Porcaro , Bancks , tanti .....20 tastiere ....dei camion ....
Perché allora per ottenere il più possibile e distinguersi dovevi trovare i suoni di un sacco di case di strumenti che non li trovavi ""replicati""
Te li dovevi comprare e portare !!!
Chi lo fa ancora ora è gente che proviene da quella mentalità anche se potrebbero farne a meno e comunque gente alla quale gli strumenti glieli portano e glieli fanno trovare montati esattamente come vogliono loro .....al centimetro.
Noi oltre che smontarli in saletta , poi li dovevamo caricare su vari mezzi.....o uno grande poi guidare e certe volte pure tanto , scaricare tutto , montare tutto , provare tutto e poi FORSE una doccia , cambiarsi e suonare ......poi tutto di nuovo.
Digli oggi giorno ad uno di questi ragazzi che girano con un portatile una chiavetta USB una tsstierina leggera ....di caricarsi un hammond C o B 3 + il Leslie tutto di legno massello o CP 80 Yamaha + fender Rodhes, , polimoog ,ecc ecc......
È la differenza tra i libri e il repertorio su PC .....

E non mi parlate di rapidità .....perché Vi assicuro e sono pronto a qualsiasi prova che senza Midi e con 8 tastiere ogniuna per determinati suoni che andavano cambiati spesso all'interno dello stesso brano , eravamo molto rapidi ...
Ogni tastiera col suo spartitino. O , chi non sapeva leggere musica ( la stragrande maggioranza dei più bravi che avete sempre applaudito e che hanno scritto la storia della musica rock pop jazz ) ci metteva dei ""geroglifici stranissimi ""
Ma ......funzionava .....tutto rapido e giusto come ora.
Come suonare con dei lettori prima vista.

Come vorrei che tutti voi ora che seguite ""la perfezione tecnica e digitale """ poteste farvi un paio di annetti negli anni

Ritornereste rigenerati e palestrati senza andare in palestra .....
Vedreste la musica da un altro punto di vista.

Aiutarsi consigliarsi.
Sacrificarsi : tutto pesantissimo.

Zero gare di abilità
Scuole di specializzazione jazz ? Si qualcuno.....ma pochi.
Musicisti chic con Apple.....
Chiavetta USB con sopra le sonorità o il repertorio .....
ah ah ah ... Per mantenere una nota con effetto di violino sulla Solina mentre ero impegnato con una mano sul rhodes e l'altra sull ' Arp Odissey sapete come facevo ?
Mi ero costruito una prolunga del dito con un ferretto.....
Facevo la "terza " sulla Solina.
Due mani tre tastiere.
E cose anche peggiori.
Da circo.
Ma questa creatività nasce solo dalle necessità.
La comodità tecnologica uccide la creatività.
Credetemi.
C'è l'avete la voglia di portarvi appresso 60 kg solo di testi e musiche? Carta !!!!

Nel 2004 quando mi decisi ad imparare a suonare le tastiere colui che mi aiutò nei primi passi mi disse " non verranno mai più costruiti synth analogici"...ora dopo quasi 20 anni stanno rifacendo tutti i synth che hanno fatto la storia della Musica...meno male 🙂
