    Hello Ryan, thanks for this clear video. I have a problem using this Røde AI-Micro on my Xiaomi 13 phone. Setup is Split input , lavalier micro's on input 1 and 2. This works perfect on my old POCO f1 phone recording stereo sound on video's and audio recordings. Same setup connected to Xiaomi 13 gives only mono sound coming from both lavalier micro's. Connecting stereo source to input 1 and selecting Input 1 doesn't help either. Still mono. Do you have any suggestions? Thanks, Erik

      In 'Split' mode, the AI-Micro which will record a single stereo file with both audio tracks recorded seperately to the left and right channels. In order to get seperate files, you'll need to import this into a DAW and seperate them into their own mono tracks.

      It's maybe good thing for some future AI-Micro Mk2. And the second thought - if AI-Micro will have USB-C socket for charging, why not allow to plug second AI-Micro to same USB-C and allow to record from 4 microphones? Hey Rode peeps, I know this has been asked before in other ways but would this AI-micro be the best choice from Rode to send a stereo "aux" feed into an iphone?
    Are there gain settings that allow you to lower the input to accept line level? If this works great, if it doesn't you guys seriously need to come out with a simple tiny version that strictly takes rca's or even 1 stereo 3.5mm. There are a ton of potential customers who simply want to take an audio board "feed" into their phones for 1000 different reasons. Make it happen please. Thanks in advance.

    • @rodemic
      @rodemic  2 года назад +3

      Hey Ripper (cool name)! In short, yes it can take a line level stereo feed, but you would have to turn down the AI-Micro input volume, as well as lower the signal volume being fed into the AI-Micro. But yes, the AI-Micro is a great way to accept a stereo feed into a smartphone.

    In order to draw specific people's attention to the problems with this device I have commented on several other comments, but this comment is to give a warning to potential purchasers that there is a major problem with this device, if you are thinking of using it with a stereo mic needing plug-in power. I have tested it with four different stereo mics. Only one worked - that was one with its own power supply. One of the ones that did not work was the Roland CS10-EM which is very popular for location recording, and I and others were delighted that it seemed like we were going to be able to use this device to record binaural sound on our phones. But sadly, I have the feeling that the device wasn't tested with that kind of mic because I don't think Rode make plug in power stereo mics. However, every portable recorder on the planet works fine with such mics - but not this. I suspect it's a hardware design error in which case, it's a dealbreaker. But let's hope it can be fixed in FW very soon.
    Further problems relate to the Rode Reporter app, which seems to record at a significantly lower level than the level set for the mics. So you have to configure the device with that app, but then use a 3rd party app to actually record. And the Reporter seems to store the files marked as system files so there's no way to actually find them...
    The good news is that the interface works with the new DJI Action 2 video camera. But - not for stereo plug in power mics...
    I'm hoping to get my review uploaded in the next 24 hours, but while I will report what does work well, I will also have to draw attention to the problems too...

    • @jgurtz
      @jgurtz 2 года назад

      It doesn't seem like design errors but rather a feature set intended for a very specific class of user: those using rode video mics or the wireless go. By not including a charge-thru connector and by not supporting phantom power this is a very limited device! And it's really too bad since it otherwise looks like a really nice and portable package. I'm kind of doubtful the pres could compete with the larger portable recorders and interfaces, but who knows, maybe they are great?

    • @Ozpeter
      @Ozpeter 2 года назад

      @@jgurtz I recorded a stereo pair (2 mics with plug in power) connected to inputs 1 & 2 today and it seemed fine in itself, but the mount I improvised had a rattle so the end result was stuffed by that. I'll fix that problem and try to upload various samples in the next few days...

      Hey there, while the AI-Micro is compatible with both iOS and Android, just note that some mobile livestreaming apps don't support external microphones. Apple and Google leave it up to individual apps as to whether external microphones like ours are supported, so it's out of our hands.

    Does it work with the Discord app on Mac?
    Every USB interface I've used causes the mic to be picked up once every second (instead of consistently) and the only workaround seems to be to use paid (often subscription-based) software as a go-between. Discord blames a "bug" in MacOS but it's the only software that I use that has this issue.

    • @Ozpeter

      Almost certainly no, but almost certainly it will work with the Action 2, which does accept standard USB audio interfaces. The Action 1 requires a proprietory interface. I've ordered this Rode device and will test it on both cameras as soon as it arrives.

    • @Ozpeter
      @Ozpeter 2 года назад +1

      Yes, it does work with the Action 2. But it does not support stereo mics needing plug-in power, only ones with their own power supply, which is close to a dealbreaker as far as I am concerned. Very disappointing.

    Hi, can this be use for guitar?

    • @rodemic
      @rodemic  2 года назад

      Hi Jack, the AI-Micro was designed to connect 3.5mm microphones and will therefore perform best with a mic-level input. It can accept line-level signals, provided that the output of the connected device and the input gain of the interface is turned down enough to accommodate the higher output of the signal. We wouldn't recommend using the AI-Micro in this way, however, if you decide to try it out, be sure to use an app that has a level meter to monitor your audio. Start with the gain turned right down and slowly increase it until you get a good recording level.
