Can I use the Rode AI-micro without a smartphone (or laptop or other recording device)? Just with a mic and a headphone. I know it doesn't make sense at first, but I really need to be able to transmit sounds across 22~25cm (ie from my right ear side, to my left ear), so that a big thick obstacle doesn't create sounds shadow (ie my head). I have single side deafness (SSD) - my right ear is completely deaf, but my left one works normally. However in daily activities my deaf side can be a real problem - in a quiet env. with a sound reflective surface on my good side I can get most sounds from my deaf side (though some volume is lost). But add a bit of noise or remove convenient reflective surfaces and catching sounds from my deaf side become really difficult or completely impossible. The solution is called CROS hearing aid, but traditionally its headphone is in-ear piece, which is far from ideal considering that you're plugging your ONLY good ear! However these days decent bone conducting headphones are available on affordable price, you just need to find a wired one (which can be a challenge of its own in these wireless times :/), and booom you have a CROS solution for couple of hundreds $ instead of the thousands they're trying to steal from you! I'm just trying to confirm that it can be done - in my use-case without recording device. I understand that the Rode AI-Micro requires some power over the usb-bus, but that can be delivered with a power-bank. I just hope that it doesn't require some smart device to be connected all the time, and esp. not to be recording all the time you want to use the monitoring.
hey! If i plug it into my windows laptop and plug my jack headphones into this rode device - will I only hear an output from the microphone, or can listen to computer audio also?
Do you think it would fit into a crash helmet behind the padding? I want to record myself and also the audio from my intercom onto a dji osmo action 3. Thanks

Is it able to split the 2 mic audio tracks to stereo separate channels when recording in phone camera apps or does it only do it with the rode app. Im looking for a good way to record stereo audio tracks on a smart phone with separate left and right channels. Most of the 2 input mic interfaces i have found only output to stereo mono mixdown losing the stereoscopic audio by combining both channels to one track.

This actually seems like a really good device, I can see some people using it, especially when they're in crowded spaces (yes, the dreaded people are getting together.) Anyway, I wanted to ask if you're planning (or maybe already working on) reviewing the Deity Pocket Wireless? It seems like a decent wireless solution that goes head to head with Rode Wireless Go, but is cheaper. It isn't available in my country, but I'm planning to get it from the US.
I have lots of issues with the AI Micro , also made a Video about them. I cant get it lound enough for Discord for excample i use the Rode Lav Go and the Vmoda Boom Pro and only get around -20db when set to 100% in the Central app, 100% in Windows and 100% in Discord. Recording in Premiere also sems to be at -20 / -18 witch is ok for post processing but not for live. The mobile apps are also abit finicy . i actually had more problems on the iOS apps on the IPad Air 3 than on Android on the LG v30 I also get noise in the Headphones sometimes.
Good summary. It also works with the DJ Action 2 camera via its USB port to provide external audio input and output.
