    Today was my First time making a tattoo on real skin and i had this really bad idea of starting with a 1001RL needle… tattoo was made on my own skin,it was a fine line Word, so in the first line, the ink didn’t come into the skin but blood came out of it 😢 skin was cut by the needle… now that i see the video, i think i made all mistakes you talked about hahahahaha, anyways, after two lines without results and pain, i decided to move to a 0803RL cartridge, and got the Job done; honestly i’d like to master single needles tattoos and your videos have so much important information

      Thank you for sharing your honest experience. Yes exactly this is why I encourage people to use 3RL if 1RL isn't doing it. The tattoo quality will be much better.
      1RL is simply very hard.
      Keep training and trying! it's great that you do it on yourself first and not others. I respect that

    I have a simple question: I'm thinking of buying the Sol Nova Unlimited, that u mentioned: which one is the best for fineline? Unlimited 3.5, 4.0 or 5.0?

      @@jjjaylud Oh my god!!! I'm so honored that you answered!
      Unfortunately I read it too late and bought the 4.0 😭 is there any chance or techniques to get the same smooth results or what else should I do? 😣
      Are you planning a video with maybe specific techniques for lining & shading with single needle in the future? 😍 I don't get how to do straight solid and clean lines without scratching or even cutting my Reelskin with 4.0 unlimited. I tried different hand speed, angles, voltages, depths, give already but nothing helps. 😪 Am I too dumb or is it really the complete wrong machine? The single needle shading seems to work but lining... 😭😭

    • @jjjaylud
      @jjjaylud  Год назад +1

      @@phamfatale_ The machine has some to do with it. But also single needle is very hard to control. Maybe that is the cause?
      If you find it difficult I suggest you use 3RL until your hand is much more capable. Maybe years before you should try 1RL. This isn't easy so you need to be very very patient.

      all I know is pens are usually softest since its made for fineline/permanant makeup. all I know is sol nova is softer than xion and I've used both. im sure sol nova is the softest. maybe permanent makeup machines are even more? idk

    How much does this apply to 3rl?

    • @jjjaylud
      @jjjaylud  7 месяцев назад

      3RLs compared to 5RLs, a little bit applied. But 1RL compared to 3RL, a looot.
      its just that 1RL is so different from any other grouping.
      But yes it applies to 3RL(especially bugpin 3) a bit because it also is so thin.

    Hi Jay thank you for all your videos:) where do you buy the needles? I’ve been buying them on Ultimate tattoo supply website but I’ve notice that a lot of them don’t work how they normally do. Sometimes the needles move sideways and not just up and down. Also do you use single needles in all the parts of the body for example on the ribs? I did a rose on the ribs and I notice the ink wasn’t getting into the skin

    Thanks for sharing this knowledge mate. I tried a single needle tattoo was using kwadron 1rl but it was #08 gauge (.25) and when I did 1 pass the line looked too faint so kept switching to #8 gauge 3rl. Now I will try 12 gauge 1rl. Do you recommend dynamic triple black for single needle?

    • @jjjaylud
      @jjjaylud  2 года назад +1

      8 gauge on a 3 is great but on a single is not the best lol(as you found out). I recommend regular black since it heals fine and dark enough already. I don't imagine it needs to be any darker if you're using only black. Save the triple for linework since lines need to be dark and saturated anyways(unless you're going for faint lines)? And for shading its easy to risk going too dark so using triple just amplifies the risk.

  • @JOKE485

    do you treat bugpin 3RL's the same as a single needle for lining or would you up the voltage a bit? What voltage would you recommend on a bishop shader compared to the bishop packer for instance? I love your videos

    • @jjjaylud
      @jjjaylud  Год назад +1

      the main difference between 3rl and 1rl is the skin tension is tougher to break through with more than 1 needles. So either more pressure, higher voltage or stronger machine will do the trick.
      So to figure out the right settings you need to play with each variable to the right balance and in relation to each other. I never used a bishop packer so I don't know. This is where an apprenticeship comes in handy. You can go solo and find out yourself and look at online information but you'll leave a lot of bad tattoos in your trail. So I highly recommend you find one!
      Not related to your question but ink flow is the other main thing. More ink flows with multiple needles because they carry it between the needles where one is just the surface around the one needle. so more spillage is happening more often with multiple needles.

    • @jjjaylud
      @jjjaylud  Год назад +1

      with multiple needles, tattooing at a tilted angle helps too since the needles enter the skin at different times vs all at one when its top down. that helps break skin tension easier too.

    • @JOKE485
      @JOKE485 Год назад +1

      @@jjjaylud Thank you so much, unfortionately I keep creating blowouts when I do fineline. Even when I have my needle less than 1mm into the skin, when healing the ink keeps spreading. I tried with the shader and tried lining with a greywash and now it didn't happen again. What kind of ink or greywash system would you recommend for fineline or black & grey 3RL work? I'm a big fan of daniel silva and trochin for instance. I love my 0.18 3RL beccause it does feel a bit more resistant compared to my single needle.

    • @JOKE485
      @JOKE485 Год назад

      @@jjjaylud I also had the sol nova unlimited before but I sold it because I hated the fact I couldn't read my volts. Blowouts didn't occuur with that machine but my dots were more like shades rather than dots. So a lot of people recommended me buying the Bishop Packer because it has a 4.2 stroke, so theres more space between dots and has more torque ofcourse. I kinda miss my unlimited, the shader does feel really nice, havent tried it out much yet but it is a brushed motor.

    • @jjjaylud
      @jjjaylud  Год назад +1

      @@JOKE485 Yes I always recommend you stick to 3rl if 1rl is giving you negative results. Why not use 3rl and have much cleaner lines? 1RL is just a very different beast. I am not too sure about greywash since I don't use it enough to know any. Greywash can be awesome if used correctly. Just make sure you know how it looks when it heals so you can tattoo with that intention.
