      i realize the pixel density affects the ratio too. so the best way is to keep trying different % numbers and using a ruler on the screen until the inches or cm matches up. I only use 100% black ink for my tattoos. the different grey values comes from the change in technique and depth. I plan to release an online course(paid) that explains all of this in detail

I am a great admirer of your work, and congratulations on demonstrating the patience, precision, and quality needed to be an artist. I have watched all your videos, and I fall more in love with your style every time. I hope to achieve this in a few years. In one of your videos, you mention that you use a single cup of ink for sessions lasting up to 9 hours. How do you manage to keep the black ink from diluting with plasma and blood so that your tone looks more like a gray? Thank you very much for your content. I hope you continue making it. You are the best. Hugs from Mexico.

    • @jjjaylud
      @jjjaylud 4 месяца назад

      I remember saying the ink dilutes with the blood and plasma in one of my videos yes. But now that I tattoo, I don't ever come across this problem. Maybe I have gotten to the point where I do not cause enough damage to the skin for my client to bleed a lot anymore? Or could I have been wrong back then about blood or plasma actually being a factor in the ink drying? Or it could be that I rarely tattoo for 6+ hours in one sitting anymore(I'm getting older I can't tattoo for that long now) so this problem of ink drying naturally does not occur anymore? In any case, If I happen to be right or wrong, you should replace that ink cup half way during one of your many breaks in a 9 hour+ session. Thank you for the question!

      @@mandyschmidt7960 I can confidently say if done right, a finalize tattoo should look great 10 years. Now I'm going to give an educated guess for this part: 10-20 years it will look blurry but still good. 20-30 years is will be quite blurry and overall readability will now really depend on the execution, initial size that was chosen, adequate spacing between the details, use of contrast to separate details and offer image readability. 30+ will be very blurry and now have the mysterious vintage look, or just a blurry tattoo depending on how you want to put it lool.

I also have a Extremely well done bold tattoo on my left bicep, a so-so bold one done on my right tricep, and a poorly done bold one one on my left shoulder blade. All done around the same time yet the shoulder one looks like it has aged 10x faster.. The same quality variations apply to fine line.

    I love watching your vids x they have helped me so much. Can you tell me what speed you're using here?

      Volts I think you mean right? It's at 7V on my Sol nova 3.5 stroke pen. Be mindful that volts can vary a bit depending on the kind of machine you're using. some machines are stronger.

    Do you run your machine at a slower voltage? I want to be able to do this style with my machine that has a 4mm stroke but i worry about the fact that 4mm is so hard hitting that it’ll harm the skin with this etching or carving method. But it seems like the better route for accuracy instead of trying to get it in a single pass. Any insight would be appreciated 🙏🏽

      I would recommend a 3.5 stroke or lower if you're having trouble with damaging skin. And make sure the machine isn't "packer" or a strong machine. I run my 3.5 sol nova on 7V
