Yesss all true Also ink flow is slightly better on the 12 I think. And The damaging and cutting is true too but is mostly from high voltage or harder hitting machines. I’m still leaning so let’s keep an eye on these and figure it out more and more 👌
The sol nova uses a displayless voltage system so I don’t know the number. I wanna guess 6-6.5? I use the same needle, voltage, ink, speed for every thing I do just different hand techniques
i realize the pixel density affects the ratio too. so the best way is to keep trying different % numbers and using a ruler on the screen until the inches or cm matches up. I only use 100% black ink for my tattoos. the different grey values comes from the change in technique and depth. I plan to release an online course(paid) that explains all of this in detail
Great Work !! I was wondering, i look in a lot of review that the needle have to go between 1 and 2mm. But in the video It s looking like you don't go in that deepness, particularly for the light grey. So when you brush the skin, you don't go as deep for the grey ? It will age well thé dot on the top of the skin? The tattoo don t will pass away ? What are the different deepness of your needle when you tattoo this kind of piece ? Thx a lot for sharing videos of your Work !
Great question Yea I saw 1-2mm when I was starting out 8 yrs ago. But remember that this is now considered older information. Tattooing has changed and there is now fineline and single needle. Remember in my video I mentioned SINGLE needle penetrated skin tension very easily compared to something like 7RL. So 1-2mm works for larger needle groupings but not single needle. So I say .5mm-1.2mm for SINGLE needle. I got this number while thinking of how to answer a question another person asked about something related. Take this with a grain of salt because I am not someone to make official rules but I have a lot of experience with single needle work. Maybe I will change the numbers in the future? idk. Anyways this range describes my experience with single needle well though.
Thx for you response !! I've make some research (scientific article), epidermis is between 0.03 and 0.4 mm (but it can be more thick under the feet and the hands) so in fact at 0.5mm we are pretty sure to be in the dermis. I understand better your range of deepness. Thx again !!
Great content as always, i want to invest in a bishop wand shader or the cheyanne that you’re using. Still trying to determine which one is best for me.
Ah I wish I knew how the bishop is but I’ve never tried it. I just know that the sol nova 3.5 stroke is amazing for my single needle style. I should credit Eva and Jing for putting me on it
Many habits such as not wiping it so much with green soap, not leaning on top of it, tracing it first with a light pass, etc. Last resort I have to use my drawing knowledge to fill ink the invisible blanks.
@@ljmusicofficial9237 ah they use an epson 3170 here. Im telling you this info on @atelier.eva 's behalf. I don't want to take credit since this shop introduced me to this stencil printing method. Good to know epson ET2750 does the job too. Thanks L&J
Whoops I forgot to record that lol I did shave if I remember correctly. Or if I didn’t then I didn’t need to. Sometimes if the hair is sparse and light enough, I don’t bother shaving
That’s it! I thought you always needed to shave because of the hair that clogs the needle, but 1RL si awesome and so comfortable for tattooing and free of clogging! I learned that in your PRO / CONS video!

Hi! Great videos btw. When shading with 1rl do you recomened low voltage or high? Also do you streach the skin tight? Thanks! I have trouble shading with 1rl because after a couple passes it starts to look just red and not dark at all.
Also I am using Bishop Packer wand 4.2 stroke and Bishop Phantom 3.5 stroke. I was using 1001rl and kurosumi ink but I see in the comments you recomend 1201rl and Dynamic Ink so I will try that now. Thanks again for these great videos!
always start low and then move up higher. I believe 6-6.5V works. I used that on my xion pen. I had that same thing happen when I used a Cheyenne brand 1rl. and yes stretch it tight and watch your depth. make sure you practice on fake skin enough before you do any more on skin unless its on your own and you're ok with that.
Thank you for the brief stencil tutorial! will try to explore it on photoshop too. :) I notice that when you tattoo the first line, there is swinging motion. why is that so?
I prefer to brush the lines more than pulling them. either of these two ways have their pros and cons but I'm using the brushing so it makes a softer line and it's more careful. pulling can make soft lines too its just a different mechanic and you must be careful in a different way to produce soft lines.
u are so talented, i appreciate how humble and dedicated you are to help and respond to all the questions ^^
Thank you. I appreciate the love from everyone too.
Amazing 🤙👍👌🙌❤
thank you
Amazing work!!! How do you make the super light tone with just black ink!!? Incredible skills
yes! its just a shallower depth and a paster stroke
Man you’re the best tattoo artist I ever seen. And can I ask you something which machine do you use and which needle do you use on your tattoos
For what I've know from another videos, Cheyenne Sol Nova 3.5 and kwadron 1201
@@highmonkeyy thanks man but which kwadron normal or pmu optima and ıt’s look like 0801 rl long taper are you sure

And yes I'm sure, the 08 or 10 cut the skin very easy, the 12 works smoothly and damages less the skin

hey jay, may i ask which model of the printer and what brand of the stencil paper are you using for your tattoos?thanks!
To get this stencil you need a EPSON ET2750 and fill the tanks with Inkjet stencil ink. Inkjet Stencil paper is used also.

3.5 sol nova
Solid black or gray wash?
Solid black! it's possible to get all greytones with just this. Lots of control and technique required though
Question! Why you didn’t shaved the tattoo area?
Whoops I forgot to record that lol

Long taper. Medium ones are always out of stock so I’ve been using long this whole time and they work well apparently
