    I like how in the Covenant intro both warthogs are troop transport warthogs but in gameplay they are destroyed machine gun warthogs.

    As far as software and programming is concerned, zero-g is easier than having gravity, so on a technical level having accurate zero-g physics is less impressive than having accurate physics with gravity. It just seems weird because we're not used to it.

    Ok how about this, forward into dawn is a small frigate at the end of halo 3 but it's absolutely massive in the start of halo 4 even after getting split in half.

      For Halo 4, they modelled a new class of post-war frigate, the Strident-Class, for use in mission backgrounds and cutscenes (mostly towards the very end of the game, when the Didact attacks Earth). To save on time, and probably assuming no-one would notice, they just modified that model for the opening cutscene, rather than building a faithful recreation of the real Forward Unto Dawn as seen in Halo 3. The level itself isn't even faithful to the Strident-Class itself, since the distance we travel inside the ship and the part outside when we launch the missile suggest a far larger ship than the canon Strident-Class is supposed to be. Of course, Halo has often fudged the details for gameplay's sake (Halo 1's Warthog run, for instance, needs a much bigger ship than the Autumn's canon size) but if they weren't going to match the level's size with the new frigate, why not use Halo 3's version?
      Halo 3's Forward Unto Dawn, like all frigates in that game, was a Charon-Class, and if you compare images of these two classes of frigate (Charon and Strident), they're quite different in overall shape, proportions and size, especially towards the rear, where the bridge, nacelles and lower hull hangar (which the Dawn lowers tanks from in Halo 3) look nothing alike. The Strident-class is far more like the Infinity in its shape and style, being noticeably smoother and more compact compared to older games' frigates, which had the various sections (engines, bridge, hangar) extend away from the main hull, rather than squash it all in together as one mostly-continuous piece.
      I can sort of understand why, from a gameplay perspective, they wanted a larger ship, but it's still a change that left a bad taste in my mouth, especially since Halo 4's opening mission doesn't make use of the larger size very well and isn't particularly exciting or fun. There are so many missed opportunities with that opening mission: no zero-g combat, an exterior and interior that make no attempt at being faithful to the ship we're supposed to be on, an interior that's bigger than the real Dawn could have been but is too linear to explore and never really makes good use of that size, a series of underwhelming locations that don't even have nostalgia going for them... the list goes on.
      Personally, I think the game should have opened in a faithful Dawn, in zero-g, and made use of the verticality of the ship, since it obviously doesn't have that much length to use. In the Halo 3 ending cutscene, both when we see the outside of the ship and when we see Chief inside the cryopod room, it's clear that the Dawn is actually surprisingly big, even with only half of it left. The corridors look about as wide as the ones on the Pillar of Autumn in the original Halo, and we see the Dawn has multiple floors (at least five) below the bridge. Why not treat the opening like a 1st-person vehicle section, using the same controls as flying a Hornet or Falcon (plus the ability to use your crouch button to reorient with the floor), and then later have Chief put the gravity back online and go back to walking? That trailer promised such a cool first mission, but the reality was really meh.

      @@evangelionaddict8212 Bungie could change their OWN canon. THEY created it. Besides, what 343 did was totally redesign a world fans have grown to love. Certain things are expected to look and sound and behave a certain way. Either way, I stand by my coment and I know others out there will back me up.

    It really bothers me how the layout of the Dawn is so different in 4. The teaser trailer had John wake up in the right pod and he basically retraced the route he took to it. Then in Halo 4 he's in a pod that wasn't there and everything on the dawn looks different, even the ship itself. I get that they needed to make it a whole level but they could've kept it a frigate, albeit bigger, and had John get out of the right pod

      i think it may be attributed to them trying to shift the art style/whatever.
      The new way they design the ships now makes them look like every other space related game out there. Sleek/futuristic/stylish.
      Not the nitty gritty hulk of metal forcing their way through space like the original bungie halo games :(

    The "Perfect" Warthogs also change variants. In cutscene they are troop transport hogs and in gameplay they are chaingun hogs

    3:22 After a UNSC frigate becomes fully matured they will emerge from their underground cocoon, watch carefully as the new adult frigates rise from their subterranean homes and fly off to start their incredible journey through life. Truly majestic creatures they are. Sadly many of them will be severely damaged and even killed by the predatory covenant ships. Only a select few will get the chance to mate.

While Halo 4 from bungie would be cool, it would be the exact opposite of what halo reach was or maybe they would somehow add an even worse element to the franchise, but that doesn't seem likely.

    These really aren't 10 things you NEVER noticed before in cutscenes, these are almost entirely CAN'T notice or even see in a cutscene. There's a pretty big difference there, and the list left me a little underwhelmed. I figured it would be a bunch of small details that are fully present and visible in the cutscenes but are minute things that most viewers wouldn't pay attention to. Don't get me wrong, these are all still really interesting little details and tricks that Bungie used, but that title isn't close to accurate with what's in the video.

      Layne, that’s a pretty pedantic argument. Unless you’re saying you’ve seen them before, then the statement made in the title holds true. You’ve never seen them. Just because you don’t like that isn’t his fault.
      You also must be new to his channel as this is a vast majority of what his videos do, use a mod to explore the parts of the games we couldn’t otherwise. Your lack of understanding is no one’s fault but your own.

    This game has been out for over a decade and we're still finding out more and more things we've never seen or thought about. That last one with the cave blew my mind. I always thought for so long that Bungie put it there for shits & gigs, but it always had its reason and it was there in front of our eyes the whole time!

    Something I noticed about number nine is that in the cutscene, the Warthogs we see are troop transport ones, but in gameplay they somehow turn into Warthogs with turrets on the back rather than the transport thing

    For the warthogs, tactically speaking, it would make sense for the covenant to destroy them before Chief and his forces reached them, therefor denying them transportation.

    13:52 they used normal MG mounted exploded warthogs too, when they are actually troop transport warhogs. they have the models in the game for both, must have been an oversight.

    As a space engineer, I can say that the movements of every object in this is correct! Bungie were smart and used actual 0G in their cutscene (and great physics, impressively) to have you feel perfectly in space.

    With #9, I’d like to imagine that the warthogs survived the fall- like they did in the Forward Unto Dawn’s crash on Requiem- but that the Covenant blew them up before you get to them. I know that’s not actually the case, but it would’ve been funny if it was. And it would’ve reinforced their reputation as robust, hard to break workhorses of a vehicle. God I love those things.

    I miss old Bungie. Having cutscenes actually rendered in-engine so everything blends perfectly.
    Now we are stuck with 343 and the cutscenes made by third-party studios. Not saying they're not pretty, but something is lost when you have 2 completely different styles and qualities between cutscenes and gameplay.

      Technically most of Halo 4's cutscenes ARE in engine, the only pre rendered ones are at the beginning and end of the game. And idk about Halo 5, it looks to be in engine but I could be mistaken. And now with Infinite, with the Cutscenes we've seen they're all rendered in engine, so idk what you're talking about lmao

    Part 1: Apparently I'd say. There's The Oracle from Halo 2. For a short time, when cutting all the cables and the structure starts falling down, you actually are in 0 m/s^2; using the elevator glitch, there's a chance that you'll not get any G before Mr. Arbiter gets his feet on the other part of the structure.

    14:28 The warthogs are actually Troop Hogs, but in game play they were armed with LAAG's instead of the troop section of the hog. They used the wrong damaged warthog models! I noticed that when I first played Halo 3 on the Xbox 360.

    13:43 on, the warthogs are also two completely different models... The pristine ones during the cutscene are passenger transport types, the destroyed ones in gameplay are weaponized types

    I noticed the chieften bug and the cave of a thousand faces being the cave in the cinematic cutscene of the first mission. And this is rather diffrent than what you pointed out, but, the troop hogs in the cutscene of The Covenant magically turn into destroyed turret hogs. That has bugged me for over 10 years. But that's about it. All the behind the smoke and mirror stuff I never noticed, understandably.

    one thing you forgot or missed in #9 the warthogs are different. in the cutscene the are the personal transports, in the gameplay they are the minigun versions.

    How funny. I never knew about the brute in the cut scene change but when you were showing the secret hallway glitch right before I saw it within the background and noticed it then and there ! Then it was the very next glitch you showed lol.

      Yeah the "didn't notice" is a straight up lie. Most of this it isn't even possible to notice because it occurs outside the camera view.

    The Warthogs in the opening cutscene of The Covenant are Troop Transports, but magically become Chain Turrets in gamellay

    for ur fist clip, i believe you fail to remember the customization settings for gamemodes to alter certain speeds of movement and jump. This was a feature in halo 3 for players to customize and tweak to their hearts content :)

    I knew about the warthogs. That one always annoyed me, the destroyed ones also have turrets. Is 6 actually a glitch? I'm pretty sure the Brute Minor is there but the Chieftain takes over. And I have been to the Cave of a Thousand faces. I knew that's where the cutscene takes place because you can see the rock formation in the cutscene as well as the trees

    If Master Chief rode a Forerunner door down from the ship, that means that he got onto Truth's ship at some point and then was removed in a fashion that allowed him to catch a ride on the way out.
    That makes me think of him using his hijacked ship to approach it and managing to fling himself into an airlock, then they try to vent him out but he grabs the inner airlock doors and rips them off so he goes flying out but so do the guards and he's the only one with a heat shield.

    #5 I wonder if that entire part was supposed to be one of those "events" they had that look like cutscenes, but you can actually break out of and continue playing while they're happening, like when Johnson gets kicked by the brute at the end of the first level. Something I noticed way back when I played the Halo 3 campaign almost weekly was that Truth pops up on the monitors before the cutscene actually starts.

    Notice how the warthogs in #9 are troop transports in the cutscene, but in gameplay, they are default warthogs

    The warthogs on covenant change also, they're troop warthogs in cutscene but when you go into the game they're regular warthogs

    I think Bungie making full models of the Dreadnought and such just shows the attention to detail that was given to the Halo games.

    Another thing about those covenant intro warthogs- they switch from troop hogs to the normal gattling gun hogs.

    A lot of cutscenes are live somehow. I dont know anything about it, but once i was using a banshee to speed through The Control Room to the end. Well the game kicked Chief out of the banshee and he begins his Cut-scene walk into the Control Room. Apparently, another banshee followed me in and literally splattered Chief DURING the cut-scene. It was hilarious PLUS it didn't prevent me from that having been a completed legendary mission. I did think quick enough to have my xbox go back and record that. 😁

    I also noticed with the perfect warthogs, number 9, the`re troop hogs when in the cutscene but then there normal warthogs when your playing

    With number nine out of game they were also only transport warthogs, however in game they had machine guns on them

    I can explain #9 easily. ALL studios cut corners in places where the player would never notice them unless they actively went looking for them. The models in the cutscene are in perfect condition because they were obviously modeled that way. From the time that the Warthogs hit the ground, to the time that you approach them, they're replaced and re-rendered as the damaged versions. Again, this is something that every artist in the industry does.

    13:40 the fact the the Warthog's carried by the Pelicans are Troop Warthog's, but the destroyed Warthog's found on the ground have a chain gun.
