@William Isaacson Is there any canon media that resolves the discrepancy between First Strike and Halo 2? It has been many years since I've read any of the books, but I was under the impression that the Uneven Elephant fleet was so large because they knew they were going to the Human homeworld. Then supposedly Regret's fleet that arrives at Earth in Halo 2 only thought they were going to The Ark? The contradictions between the games and books always bothered me as a kid.

As for dead bodies being 'alive', this is usually because it's easier to just spawn a group of actors in a map and have them scripted to die and just fall in place/drop whatever they're spawned with, than it is to place already dead ragdoll models; this also makes it dynamic in the way that bodies will always be in a different place/position each time.
