Hey man great job! I’m about to take my math accuplacer. Quick question, did you take the full math crash course? or just watch the videos on this channel.
@@GunneRx4 Vidoes on this channel. But I would recommend taking the crash course, as there are still things that the channel doesn't cover completely. I didn't have a chance, due to not having the time, and wish I did. Could have scored even higher.
@@xalderin3838 thanks for your feedback.
I’ll going going to go with the crash course since I have 2 weeks to get ready.
How many module of math did you take and what were they
Ive never passed a math test past 8th grade level math. I studied my butt off using only michael tooheys videos. I scored a 264 on my QAS placement test. I can finally take the classes i need to get the degree i want. This has been holding me back for over 10 years. Michael Toohey is a godsend.
Congratulations, Krissi!!! I’m so happy for your success, and proud of you for never giving up!!!
Best of luck at the next level!
I definitely have clicked a link to subscribe because I’m a senior who's scheduled to graduate in June. My last class is Quantitative Reasoning and Problem-Solving. I am beyond stress because I come from a land of arithmetic and enough algebra decades ago to obtain my GED. Throughout my college term, I’ve maintained all A’s and made honor twice. I believe following your series will assist me in passing this semester. I learn something from this post and that pull for me. Thanks.

Thank you so much!
After getting the crash course, I managed to pass and be placed in the Math that I wanted!
The instructions were amazing, and to the point!
Hands down the best Accuplacer instructor on the platform!
Thank you for sharing your testimonial, Adam!!! Bet if luck with the rest of your studies!!
I just realized that we can solve it in an easier way without any calculator:
³√(27)²
=³√27 × ³√27
=3×3

I hope this can be helpful for you guys🌼
And thanks to the teacher who taught us these unique and easy methods.I have completed the crash course part of 3 days and I'm so grateful that I found these videos. May almighty bless u sir and please also keep me in your prayers to pass my upcoming accuplacer exam🌻

I have been out of school for 12 years and decided its time to go ahead and start classes so that I can have a career. I had gotten my GED and my only scores that were low were my math scores. So here I am taking the Accuplacer Thursday and trying my best to understand as much as I can with the little to no natural math ability that I have. Battling my ADHD every step of the way. @@MichaelToohey i ended up passing my TSI thank you sooo much. Your the best :)
Congratulations, Josue!!!
That mnemonic is new to me and will help me a ton to remember what to do with the numerator and the denominator. Thank you! I just wanted to add that the calculations are easier if you first calculate the denominator (3) root of the base (27), in this case the cube root of 27, and then you take that value of the root to the power of the numerator (2), so 3 to the power of 2. This also gives the correct answer of 9. This always works as well and imo is much easier to calculate. Like in the case of this question, all of the math is easy mental math. If I was the designer of this test, I wouldn't offer a calculator for this exact reason, so I think it would be wise to edit the video and include this information as an addition since the way you taught it also has great value (especially the trick to narrow down the answers to a single one).
Thank you for reaching out!!! Great points here, I agree with everything you say, especially the point about taking the cubed root of 27 first! Much easier path to finding the right answer!
I passed the test and placed into the class I wanted to place in THANK YOU

question is this section made up of mostly pre algebra, Algebra 1, and some geometry or is it just made up of Algebra 1 and 2 ?
Not a ton of Algebra 2… here’s the concepts tested (straight from the college board website):
Rational numbers, ratios and proportional relationships, exponents, algebraic expressions, linear equations, linear applications, probability and sets, descriptive statistics, geometry concepts
Hope that helps! I cover every major concept tested in the full version of the course… “Day 5” is devoted exclusively to the QAS section!
i've been watching all ur videos to prepare myself for the tsi, but I want to know if watching the accuplacer videas will also help me prepare for the tsi
ps. i love the way u explain, it makes everything so easy to understand!
Hi, May! Yes! The TSI is just the Texas version of the Accuplacer! There are some differences (the Accuplacer can test some higher-level concepts) but pretty much anything you do for the Accuplacer will help on the TSI and vice versa...
@@MichaelToohey That's good to know, thank u
Hi, can you help with math on the TEAS test?
Hi, there! I’m not super familiar with the TEAS test, but from what I can tell watching my TSI Math and SAT Math videos would probably help…
Omg. I already spent about 2 weeks trying to remember all about middle and High School . I was panicking because my test is going to be in two weeks and I dont remember many subjects. I just purchased the course today, and I watched about 4 videos so far. I am feeling way more confident to pass the test.
By any chance do you have some help with writing, reading accuplacer?
I am not a native speaker. I am having trouble with writing.
Thanks for sharing.
I have a few videos I think you’ll find helpful: “TSI ELAR”, “TSI Writing Practice”, and “TSI Essay Practice”… the TSI test is closely aligned to the Accuplacer (in fact, it’s just the Texas Version of the Accuplacer) so watch those…
You're really helping me learn. Thank you!!!!!
I’m happy to help!!
Hello, does your crash course focus any on the QAS or more on the arithmetic? I am in desperate need of help on the QAS. I test on the 31st and need a 245 on the QAS and I am EXTREMELY terrible in math. What would be you recommendation?
Yes!! I cover concepts you need to succeed on the QAS on Days 1-5 (even though days 1-2 are primarily arithmetic, you have to have that down for the QAS section), and Day 5 is devoted exclusively to QAS-specific concepts… I recommend getting access to the full course (go to accuplacermath.net or click the link in the description of my Accuplacer videos) and work through Days 1-5, with a special focus on Day 5. Once you are able to answer the questions in the course ON YOUR OWN, using the strategies I teach in the course, you’ll be ready to take the test!
Let me know if you have any other questions!
Ok thanks a bunch, I'll get the crash course and go from there.
I am so lost. I am 47y.o, I have graduated from school 30 years ago. I took the accuplacer a week ago and got a 247, took it again today and got a 256. I need to get 260. I have one more try, but not enough time to study. I have watched a couple of your videos and I am so lost. Not sure if your videos can help me pass the test in 10 days.
You’re so close, Toni! Watch my videos, and please let me know if you have any questions!! Thanks!
Omg best best teacher!!
Ha! Thank you so much!
Do u tutor privately?
At times, but I’m not taking on new students… sorry!
So I noticed, that when you found the Cubed root of 27, which was 9, you had an answer there. But, at the same time, I'm wondering if that would work, because you would have to ignore the power to two, which is also something you technically can't do?
Also, thanks for these vids on youtube! VERY helpful, especially after being out of school for 11 years, this has all been refreshing my memory. Hoping to pass my test tomorrow with flying colors! :D
The cubed root of 27 is 3 because 3^3(3x3x3)=27
That is correct!
youre a god, thank you
Not a god, I assure you!! But thank you for the kind words nonetheless!! Please let me know if you have any questions!
Will this help me prepare for the tsi as well?
The two tests are closely aligned, so you may see some questions like this on the TSI, even though they are taken from Accuplacer practice tests… so yes! It will probably help : )
Hi, I just started watching this video and I like how you explain these questions to the student, and I have to take my accuplacer test in like two weeks but I don't feel ready for the math sections. Hey sir.. I'd like to ask if the Accuplacer test is more like the same version of NBT tests... As I've been practicing for my NBTs...
I’m not familiar with NBT tests… can you tell me more about that test?
@@MichaelToohey The NBTs are National Benchmark Tests written after Online applications to varsities... Two tests are written... The first one is the Academic and Quantitative Literacy (AQL) and the MAT test which is MATHEMATICS... Some varsities use it for entry level testing whether or not you are ready for Tertiary Education straight from Matric... While some use it to see how much support you'll need in your academics as you start your career journey. Both these tests are 3 hour long tests with Multiple Choice Questions. The first AQL one has Comprehension-like questions and then the Quantitative part of it is all Maths Literacy work.. And then the Mathematics one covers Pure Maths Based type questions...
I did Maths Literacy at school and not really familiar with the Math Topics that are Covered in the test,That is why I was asking if she Accuplacer Math practice can also be of great help.
That’s a great question! I’m just not familiar enough with the NBTs to make a determination of how similar (or dissimilar) the two tests are…
@@MichaelTooheyThe other thing is... There are no past papers as I hear they recycle every paper written.. They also change the tests every time... For an example, if a group of students write the test tomorrow.... The test would be different for the other groups writting on a different date.
If you have no clue about what NBTs are... You can just find more information on them and then you'll determine if it's still okay that I follow your Accuplacer practice... As I enjoy every single one of your videos, The way you teach... Makes it easier for me to even understand Mathematics

HOW IS 10 divided by 20 0.5!! ive been trying to understand this nothing is workingggg'
Did you figure it out?
Please where do you get the 20 from
Thanks for reaching out! Are you referring to the TSI or the Accuplacer test?
The first example sir 12 red and 20 blue please where did the 20 come from. Thanks
Good question! Notice that the question says there are 32 marbles in the jar, 12 are red and the rest are blue… if the rest are blue, that means the number of blue marbles is 32 (the total) MINUS 12 (the number of red marbles), which gives you 20… Make sense?
For 27^2/3. Wouldn't it be easier to 2/3 = .66 x 27 = 18/2 = 9?
Good question!
But I’m not sure that works…
.66 x 27 isn’t 18/2 or 9… is that what you meant? Double check on your calculator…

@ovierdelacruz7158 OK! Great! If you’re able to answer all the questions in the problem sets easily on your own (using the strategies I teach in the course), then you’re ready to take the test! If not, review the solutions to the questions you’re struggling with and practice again until you can solve it on your own!
@@MichaelTooheyi’ve understood way more now with you thank you it’s crazy
I have a question , sorry, but, in the last exercise,x is technically 1, or the x means other thing, it’s because, I don’t know if is the same like if you treat with 1 and other number, but the 1 like a x.
Thanks for reaching out! However, I don’t quite understand your question… any way you can rephrase it?
@@MichaelToohey I’m sorry I complex a lot, it’s just, I’m confused because I don’t understand the last exercise, because I don’t know how treat or how work the X in the exercise , or technically I’m confused for the last exercise in general.
@miguelz6973 no problem! Really, you just have to understand that raising something to the power of 1/2 is the same as takin the square root of that number… so 9 to the power of 1/2 is the same as the square root of 9 which is 3…. Punch it into your calculator and see for yourself… so 4 times x to the power of 1/2 has to be the same as 4 times the square root of x, which is the right answer.
Another way to think about it is that you’re only raising the x to the power of 1/2, not the 4… so really you’re not changing the 4 at all, just multiplying 4 times whatever x to the power of 1/2 is… knowing that, the right answer has to have a 4 in it, which it does! Make any sense?
15:50
I WOULD HAVE SAID 2 TO 1?? WOULD THAT HAVE BEEN WRONG???
The ratios of red marbles to blue marbles would only be 2 to 1 if there were twice as many red marbles as blue marbles, which isn’t the case… in this question, there are 12 red marbles compared to 20 blue marbles, so the answer is 12 to 20, or 3 to 5 (same ratio). Make sense?
Number 20 you can divide 27 /3 which is 9
Doesn’t quite work like that… what if you had 27 to the power of 1/3? That would just be 3… or 27 to the power of 3/3… That would be 27.
Yes, 27/3 is 9, but just dividing by the denominator of the fraction wouldn’t help on most fractional exponent questions.
Make sense?

@ViralTokTube-do2hv great! Let me know if you have any questions!
In the 729 problem- how’d you get 27 x2 is 729???
Good Question!! The question is 27 to the power of 2 (which means 27 times 27), not 27 times 2…
27 times 27 is 729
👍🏻
My comment got deleted> why sir?
I’m not sure... I’ve been seeing that happen automatically lately!! Try posting it again!
I took the TSI2 MATH and I got 945, my score goal is 950. How many questions do I have to answer correctly to get a 950?
ps. your videos helped me a lot! didn't expect to get a 945 score. Thank you!
I’m so happy to help!
That’s a great question… nobody knows for sure, but I estimate that around 70% correct should be enough to get you a passing score… so that would be around 14/20 correct.

I’ll be happy to help!! What’s your email address?
your website does not have a direct login link and no contact page also. if you can add this would help. :)
