How the Golf Club Works

  • When I started MNML GOLF, my coaching life had to take a back seat.
Though I still coach a few competitive players, I spend most of my day working with the team to keep improving our products, our service, and most importantly our commitment to the mission of making the best golf bags for the player and for the planet.
Last fall Eddy, Founder of 18Birdies Golf App, asked me if I’d like to help create a “golf school” for 18Birdies users and I jumped at the chance.
Even if you’re a veteran golfer, the concepts I outline in the video will give you some new insights about how golf clubs are meant to be used and how that impacts our intention in the swing.
This video, "How the Club Works”, is the most impactful video in out of the 275 video library.
I hope you enjoy and truly hope it helps you on your golf journey.
    Sam Goulden, Founder, MNML GOLF

Awesome Sam! Discovered you about 10 years ago before you became a total rock star. We spoke on the phone and I have your original e-book. We actually spoke on the phone and I may have missed a "Goulden" opportunity. As a published author (Golf Discovered - Find your game before you lose your mind), blogger and digital marketer, you had indicated we may have a connection. Man did I blow it, look at you now particularly with the BEST and most creative, modern Golf Bag on the market - MNML Golf!
So as I was distracted by RUclips and the Golf Channel, including well meaning friends in the actual golf instructional industry, I lost my game and some say my mind...
I'm finally back to following your Square to Square method and will definitely subscribe to or follow your new relationship with 18 Birdies. Your "Last lesson video" was ground breaking and eye opening for all golfers trying to find their game! So grateful your back producing videos and continued success with MNML - Rock On!

Welcome back! Took your S2S program a few years back - and I have to say, it is still the best program I've used for the past 5 years. I'm now down to a 1.2 index because of this. Thanks so much Sam!

@@samgouldengolf Thanks Sam - never leaving the S2S. The best thing about it is it is SO repeatable. Won our club championship early January this year because when the pressure hits - I know i can count on a consistent strike and ball flight. Thanks for this!

That statement/question at the end - exactly. Wish I had that understanding years ago when I was a more active player.

This is fantastic information and it’s super rare to find any analysis of club design and how you need to use various clubs. This area really fascinates me. WHY are clubs designed like this? Why does this work in such a specific way (handle more forward as loft increases)? How did club makers come to the same set of design principles? What governs the process so they all work within such tight parameters? I’d love to know more about all this. But this is pretty darn great. Thank you.

This is a valuable, I always like to know the position of club's face the moment of impact. This is exactly what I want to know. Thank you.

lol mostly flat so no need for forward lean unless you want. Or if you have more than 2* of loft.

This lesson, this aspect of Iron play has ruined golf. Only a professional can master this unnecessary lean of the golf club face. This used to be an aspect of golf to put a backspin on a balata ball with a full swing. The proper golf swing gets almost as much spin but much more height that can give a consistent 170+ yards and in play.
