There is almost NOTHING greater than watching Marty start a tutorial off showing how it goes and watching him go from teacher to regular guitarist as the music just takes over him. It's an inspiration to see someone so accomplished, after all these years, just get lost in their own playing still
@@keithf7351 Same here ! Once with Michael McDonald and once without. Great band. If you like fantastic rhythm guitar, you have to love the Doobies !! PEACE from Philadelphia
Been a really big fan of Marty for years. One of the best RUclipsrs on the Planet. His videos cut the chase and deliver. As far as the Doobies, there's a documentary on them. IMHO it's worth a watch. Not only is their music great, their philanthropy is off the charts.
My Grandfather passed away a little over 4 years ago now. He loved music and was always playing when we would come over to visit him (interstate). I remember waking up in the mornings when we were there and hearing him play, every spare minute he could find he was either playing or listening and learning about music. Closing my eyes while you played at the start brought tears to my eyes, this song reminds me so much of him both because of its distinctive sound, and also the lyrics are basically just an embodiment of how he lived. I have one of his guitars now and I want to learn how to play, my goal is eventually to be able to play this. Thank you for bringing back such precious memories.
Get started, rhiannon. We had an acoustic guitar in our closet for almost 30 years. It waited patiently for us to experience kids, careers, homes, and life. Now in my 60's and I am 3 years into learning/playing. In the future you'll wish you had started today.
Marty you always come through for us. This is another classic Doobie Brothers acoustic guitar song. I love this song. I will be learning this song right away. ✌🏾✌🏾♥️
Quick and to-the-point even slow down on certain sections were he knew the student would need to have a little extra tutelage. One of my favorites and all time classic and now I know how to play it and only took about 15 minutes! Thank you so much Marty!
Just wanted to say that I've been watching these videos since I was about 10 years old, I'm now 23 and still use Marty's vids for here and there lessons on songs. Thank you so much Marty and keep on rockin.
I’m currently doing your course on RUclips for the acoustic beginner lessons and it’s been great thank you so much I still might buy the online course though because I like the way you teach
Thank you Marty for another great lesson. Telling us the shape to play really makes it easy to visualize the chord structure . Barring is still not easy for me, but within 15 minutes I was strumming out something that remotely sounded like the song. This will be a great one to work on
Marty does such a great job on signature songs. He saves me so much time learning covers. I’m always inspired to elevate my playing after watching him. His video lessons are so well laid out. Thx Marty
Hey Marty - nice job on the lesson. You mentioned other guitar parts being played BUT the part that really strikes me is the BANJO part which is very special - take another listen. Thanks for your work!
I've never understood why Marty's comments are full of people requesting he do unknown songs by unknown bands. I've been watching his videos for years, and he never answers and never does the songs. It's a waste of time. Just let him be, let him follow his groove, accept what he gives us and be grateful.
I wish you would do an instructional video on John McFee in Southern Pacific's Midnight Highway. I cannot figure how that song opens. You are my only hope!
Thanks Marty great lesson and breakdown on this great song awesome rhythm practice and Thanks for explaining the Hendrix major chord influences and inversions fantastic teaching 😀
Please do only in dreams by weezer, I am a beginner and I will post this comment on other videos too! Not trying to be annoying I just need a tutorial, thank you 🙏! Love your videos
Love this song! Thank you so much Marty for all the effort you put into making these videos, it is much appreciated, you explain things so well, thank you so much!
Marty and Carl at "Guitarlessons365song" , are my top 2 teachers. And "Shut up and play" is another good teacher also. He plays in a black background so you can focus on his hands much better.
There is almost NOTHING greater than watching Marty start a tutorial off showing how it goes and watching him go from teacher to regular guitarist as the music just takes over him. It's an inspiration to see someone so accomplished, after all these years, just get lost in their own playing still
The Doobs are a highly underrated band. Have seen them 3 times, and never came away disappointed. Thanks for the lesson Marty..
Ditto. Except I've only seen them 2 times.😎👍
@@keithf7351 Same here ! Once with Michael McDonald and once without. Great band. If you like fantastic rhythm guitar, you have to love the Doobies !!
PEACE from Philadelphia
Why do people always say every band is underrated? They've been HIGHLY RATED all along! Just stop!
@@mellotronn THANK YOU for saying this. I think "underrated" is the most OVERUSED word on RUclips! That said, great lesson as always, Marty!
They were superb until McDonald ruined the band. Sad.
Love the smirk at 00:40, that’s what it’s all about right there!! ❤

Another awesome tutorial - really appreciate that you get right to it and don't make the lesson longer than it needs to be! Great job Marty!
My favourite guitarists of all time, in no particular order, Jimi, Slash and Marty. ❤
The smile this song puts on Marty's face is the best!
You’re the main reason I’m where I’m at on my guitar playing, Marty. Thank you

I’ve been playing guitar for nearly 10 years now and I’ve been getting bored, all I needed was a new song to learn. Thank you, Marty!
