Thank you SO much for this tutorial. It is spot on. I played bass for years and this was one of my favorites. As I now learn the chords, this is absolutely invaluable to me. You, my friend, are a treasure.
Thankyou Howard --I went through 40 agonising years to get this intro strum /hammer on sequence right --now I finally have it --your video is the clearest !
I just love the way he takes the time to show the up and down strokes to each cord and explains it as he goes. he is the most through teacher I have watched and as a beginner at learning cords his style of teaching is the easiest I've seen and I have watched a lot of videos on this song. Thanks for making learning from you simple.
Fantastic rhythm lesson. Many years I got to see Tom Johnston live in Davis, CA. He played many of the tunes he wrote with the Doobies including my fav, LISTEN TO THE MUSIC. He was on fire. I love his funky rhythmic style of playing. Very infectious and danceable. Thanks again for the tutorial
how cool is this lesson! ( hint extremely, tremendously). If I get a few extra bucks in my pocket I’ll be getting lessons from Howard ! I don’t think there’s a better teacher out there. At least for where I am at in my guitar journey. Which just took a step forward with a couple 2nd inversions under my belt! Thanks Howard ! You’re efforts are very much appreciated 🤘🏼🤘🏼🤘🏼🤘🏼
I just found your channel while looking for this song. Awesome lesson. Fingering diagrams are an excellent plus and a great help! I subscribed and am currently reviewing all your videos for more gems. Thank you! Ps I’m a 67 yr old seasoned, performing musician and have learned songs by “ear” (ear to the jukebox back in the 70’s). Now in my retirement I’m going back and trying to “re-learn” some favorites the correct way using the correct chords vs soundalikes. Thought I’d let you know that besides beginners, you’re helping teach old dogs new tricks. Thank you again!
Hi , Damn, the opening strum is sooo difficult to sound right on the opening Emajor hammer, but my question when you are following on the upstrokes G string are you holding your index finger or hammering..very difficult to see on camera. Thanks for you easy to follow vids. You get right to instructions without too much talk.

It's a barre shape... So holding it yes. But also releasing it slightly to create that small percussive stroke. Hope that makes sense?
Practice makes perfect.
May i ask what amp you are using / Sounds perfect for this song. Thanks
Thanks man
Brasil top👍👍👍👍
