Some of Bruno's "weird" behavior is actually because he's really superstitious: knocking on wood, throwing salt over his shoulder, avoiding cracks in the floor are all ways to avoid bad luck, which makes sense since he thinks his visions bring bad luck.
Also the little “sana sana colita de rana” that he whispered, its a little song mexican (and colombian too apparently, i didnt know that) parents sing to their children after they get injured so they can heal faster
i thot he knocked on the wood bc he had ocd😀
Which is possibly why he patched the cracks in the walls: wanted to avoid that too

Memes and jokes aside. Bruno had it rough. His mother, family and village basically outcasted him just because of his accurate predictions. As a result he “ran away” and lived within the house. He made a table by the kitchen walls so he can eat with his family. He even patches the cracks on the walls in order to keep the house from being torn apart. The fact that everyone views him as evil is just depressing.

I think Brunos chaotic and awkward nature is what makes us all love him so much. He's also just an amazing character, who even when he felt he had to leave, he couldn't fully leave his family behind. He was literally vibing to We Don't Talk About Bruno during Dolores' part, and he came out on the horse thinking that Abuela was mad at Mirabel and telling her that he told her to do some of the stuff. He's such a lovable character despite how he doesn't have much screen time.

I really like that Bruno doesn’t like his gift even though he’s good at it, and he actually wants to pursue acting even though he’s not naturally good at it. It’s like when people are AMAZINGLY talented at stuff they don’t actually care about, but instead of pursue the easy route they don’t like they go for something they have a passion for and have to work hard at. It’s a nice little message

I think she’s a little freaked out because she can hear someone close by but can’t physically see the’ and knows they’re creeping around often. She also sounds more sympathetic towards him because she can probably hear him expressing his loneliness and who wants to feels alone?

I can see why no one talks about Bruno. He can predict the bad stuff that happens in the future. But you can’t deny his charm and his personality. I’m glad he’s not the antagonist. In fact, this movie doesn’t need an antagonist.

I think the predictions that the movie shows us (like the dead fish, the fat, the priest's hair and even Dolores' platonic love) are things that could even have been avoided if people tried to change their future... but instead they sat waiting for their fate to be fulfilled and blamed bruno afterwards 💁♀️ he's a sweet pie who saw the future, but was up to you to change your fate or hope for the worst 🤷♀️

Just wanted to point out in case someone doesn't know, at 0:54 when he is "vibing in his own universe" he is actually avoiding cracks on the floor because of bad luck, we have a lot of superstitions here in Colombia, that's also the reason he knocks on wood, throw salt over his shoulder and other weird things lol
It’s interesting that different places have similar superstitions, *but* not exactly the same either.
I’m Canadian and I grew up with knocking on wood for luck in pretty much the same way (but I usually do it after I’m worried i just jinxed myself by saying something lol), but where I’m from you’re supposed to throw salt over your shoulder after you’ve just spilled some of it (because that’s bad luck), and kids learn the rhyme “step on a crack, break your mothers back” for reasons I couldn’t explain if I tried 😆. I didn’t think places shared similar superstitions like that but that’s interesting.

With the "Hernando" and "Jorge" bits, I'm reminded of a line from the Sandman - when the Sandman took a challenge to turn the life around of a depressed older man, he made the man believe he was Emperor of the United States, and though people made fun of him for it, it made him stable and gave him dignity that helped him keep going. "His insanity keeps him sane."
Fun fact, while hes jumping the cracks on the floor, he says in spanish "sana sana culito de rana", and thats something you say to heal a injury (specially when you're talking to a kid). In english, you could translate it as "heal heal small ass of frog" although it sounds horrible 😂
EDIT: I just heard again and I wanted to add that I think they used "colita" (small tail) instead of "culito" (small ass) which as you see are very similar but the first one is more family friendly and fits better in a disney movie. I just wanted to correct myself! ☺️

The first time I ever watched this movie I was like "Damn this Bruno guy is scary." And then his appearance with Pepa's lightning affect cemented that for me. Watching Mirabel chase this seemingly deranged murder man who secretly lives in her house.
