Another heartwarming trip! Continue being who you are! The music during the last part of this blog is EXCELLENT; as good as the vlog is, for me the music is the best you've included in any vlog Now, I have to figure out who did it! I can only dream of visiting at 74. Your blogs are the next best thing. Thanks and Aloha from Maui.
@@joenandamalie Sr. Lourenço.. what a character!!! before your question, he said: you need water? 1,10€, over there is 2€ ehehe Last month, i´ve been there chating with him then i asked him how much time would take from there to Fraga da Pena (beautiful btw) and he instantly answered: 15 min by plane...lol
So beautiful, my country is truly underestimated. But wait until you go to Minho and visit Arcos de Valdevez and Sistelo, or Ponte de Lima, Ponte da Barca, or Caminha. Minho is gorgeous. Great vídeo guys.
I believe the road/track you seen at 8.05, is the road we took the first time we visited Piodao. It was a dirt road, which got narrower and narrower. At a certain point I wanted to stop but there was no way I could turn around. It was too dangerous and I kept thinking, I hope no one is coming up. Then the road stopped near an old house. There was a car parked and there was enough space to turn. We left the car there and descended the last 100/200 meters by foot. It started to rain. Afterwards we went up again. By then the dirt road was wet and it was a bit scary but we managed. We slept in Inatel on the mountain top on the other side (8.25 top left), a 5 km round trip that costed more than 20 minutes. The next morning we visited Piodao again but from the other side. This was 10 years ago. The roads were under construction then. It was not an easy accessible place. I fell in love with a picture of Piodao by night. In the meanwhile there are a few more renovated towns like Piodao in the surroundings of the Serra do Açor. We call it Schist villages, a kind of Slate rock. Casas da Lapa: we were there before Piodao and crossed the bridge, the 4 of us. It was open then but it leads to a private property. There are about a dozen of those renovated houses and very nice small gardens.
wow, I have seen pictures of the road at the casa do povo in my old village, and it also makes me think about how it must have been before the car, when was just horses, and donkeys the road to Coja, took 40 minutes from my old village, Tojo after I grew accustomed to driving faster, like the portuguese do! the roads were made better for the windmills and edp, had it been only gravel, I think I would have never bought a house there.
The quality from one year to now in the filmmaking and editing is impressive and you visit so much Portugal you make look like the Portuguese don’t know Portugal
Thanks, Jimmy! We always try to improve our content in all ways possible. The quality of the footage has always been a high priority and with our new camera we can now film in 4K, which has been a significant improvement! Cheers

Trabajo perfecto, Suuuper profesionales.
Ahhh, Coimbra, my birth place and my alma mater! Beautiful and unique Coimbra! So many things to visit: Penedo da Saudade, Jardim Botânico, Jardim da Sereia, the Universidade and its beautiful Biblioteca Joanina, Choupal, Quinta das Lágrimas, Portugal dos Pequeninos, the narrow streets, some of which overlooking the peaceful Mondego, the antique bookshops, the little dark Fado taverns... I could go on and on... You've got to go back! The first time I went to Piodão, more than 20 years ago, I almost peed my pants driving my little Fiat Uno through those winding curves, forcing myself not to look down. 😀But once arrived, it was so worth it!
Sorry to say but Coimbra University is one of the oldest in the world, but absolutely not the oldest. That would be the University of Bologna. Coimbra comes at #9 in the top 10.
I was about to say exactly the same thing. The one who said that about Coimba was not the Danish couple, but their guide, Joao. I think the couple makes just a fantastic job with their videos about Portugal (they are as imperfect as anyone else, me included, of course).
@@joenandamalie If you want to tape your vocal in background, let me give you a tip: with a cardboard box (example: 50 cms x 50 cms), glue and line sponge in the cardboard walls, and put some weak light in the top of it (on the roof), and with your microphone do your voiceover inside de box. You"ll have a mini, mini studio. Ok..you don't have to thank me...😉

You don’t have to drive far to experience immensely different vistas in the landscape. I am very curious about the buildings in Piódão. You didn’t mention the stone and what looks like slate, rooftops. What where the outer walls made of and were they slate rooftops?
Amazing! Finally I can see my favorite vlog in my region :) Just a correction Amelia, in the minute 6:29 you should say: CENTER of Portugal ! Although it has mountains and more nature like area, Serra da estrela region does Not belong to the north ;)
my first house in Portugal was up in the sera acors where piodao is located, is so scary to drive up there, on the roads in the mountains, 300m drops in places, when we first moved there was no barriers! thats arrived 4 years ago.

Banco also means stool besides bank

“I’m on a chair... I dont have multibanco” (the joke being, I don’t have a Multi-Stool)
Sim, exactamente.
