Nice! New fish are always exciting. I've never ordered fish, only bought from Aquatic shops. As you mentioned some do look pretty skinny. Hopfully it isn't internal parasites. Gl with them :)
I think it’s always better buying from a shop in person, but at the moment with COVID-19 it’s hard to find certain fish at your local fish shop so buying is the last option. Yeah it’s been about two weeks now since I had them one or two are still looking skinny so I might need to treat them for internal parasites.
They are beautiful. Loved watching your big school of them. I have 8 and plan on adding 10 to 15 more in about 2 weeks when my local fish store gets them in.

Awesome tank! I noticed the galaxy rasbora, I’ve heard many speaking about keeping 5-6 of them but also that they feel safe when they are with fish with the same behavior. How many do you keep and what are your experiences. I’m planning on getting chilli rasboras for my 54 liter, I’m thinking one or some galaxy rasboras could be cool too but I’m really afraid of overstocking and I don’t want anyone to feel lonely :(
At the moment I keep them in a group of 5 and they are happy. But I have had them in a group of 3 with the other Chilli Rasboras and they all look happy and active! You could try a group of 4.
Hey I know I'm late but I figured I'd share. I've got just over 30 of these guys together in a 20long. I definitely recommend keeping them in larger groups. The behavior is great and they're not scared to come show off. Also they are a very clean fish that doesn't dirty up the tank. I've actually never even seen their poop! They're super friendly with everyone but I have a feeling they're going to decemate the baby shrimp that are due soon I'm the same tank. Other than that they are great. You could keep them with other micro rasboras and they will all hang out together no problem. I would also advise crushing their food before adding to the tank because they do have very tiny mouths and while I've never experienced this, I've heard they can starve to death because of it. Also they're super flexible as far as pH goes as long as they're tank bred. Good luck to you I hope you've already got them and I'm not telling you anything you already don't know! 🤙

Its true what they say -- The have any color until they settle, but wow. Interestingly, my camera can't seem to capture their color either...I'm thinking that's why people say they look amazing but you can't find clips of it!

@@probilliards101 hello sir! The tank is doing really well - I put little sponges on the outflow because it was too strong for me, but other than that it has been great. For fish, I think it'll very much depend on the size and behaviour. I would say you could go crazy with the chilli rasbora if you wanted. Some say the Phoenix is a teeny bit smaller (who knows), and I felt like 16 of them had loads of space. If heavily planted, I would even say you could go 20+ with them and be fine, their bioload is tiny and they really don't need much space. Scarlet Badis would also be a great combo if you can find them, a pair should be ok unless you get unlucky with aggression. I would be really tempted to suggest chilli's with like one /a pair of blue rams or other small chlichlid like krebensis or apistogramma. The only thing I'm not sure about are the corys, I haven't kept them in ages but I'd worry that they'd take space of any cichlid at the bottom...maybe a few Amano as cleanup crew instead? That's just me and corys though!

Honestly I'm really liking the peacock gudgeons and might just get more of those for a good school and then maybe 12 chili's to start. I'm still so undecided lol. I wouldn't say they are tight schooler, what I usually see is one chili moves around the tank and the other just follow that one chilli. Chili Rasboras would be a good choice or Ember Tetras are good schoolers!
I personally haven’t seen them go for baby shrimp. In my tank I see a lot of new born baby shrimp. I guess having a densely planted tank will help a lot!
I’m not 100% I think they should be okay but it’s probably best to start off with a small group first and see how they get on. If they are fine you can buy more and increase your Chili Rasbora school.
I watched this too late. I acclimated mine with 30ml every 5 min and I lost half of 30. Should have done it a lot slower like for cherry shrimp but 2x longer.
Micro pellets are good but oddly they are still big for them, they can eat them but my chili’s love the hikari fancy guppy, the pellets are half the size of the micro pellets, literally perfect for them! Give it a try, you will be happy you did!
youve got a mix of chili and phoenix rasbora. see this is why we cant have good things in the hobby when not too bright breeders hybridize and mix up species... awesome shoal though

I would say for that many fish I’d say a 60x30x30 cm aquarium would be good. Say 10/15 gallons!

I think you would get away with it. There are small fish so I can’t see them over loading the tank!

They aren’t the best swimmers so low flow is better. They should be okay with a pH between 6-7. My pH is around 6.5pH!

I’d avoid cichlids for sure! The general rule is if the chili rasbora fits into a fishes mouth the fish will probably eat it!

I have not seen that so far, if she was egg bound I would assume her colours would be bright and colourful. You might need to keep an eye on her

Did any fry survive for you in your main tank of chili rasboras? You have a dense carpet and eggs and fry should be able to grow and survive.
I haven’t seen any fry, the problem is they are so small they probably would get stuck in the filter

I can imagine they would not add a lot to the bioload, you could start with 10 and build up to 15 if your water parameters stay stable.

It could be the things you mentioned, I feed mine a food with a high protein content which helps. The temperature of my tank is 26C.

Hard to say really, there would be a 50% chance of it eating them. It depends on the size of the fish and it’s personality.
