And oh look, still getting gratuitous dialogue quotations from Jackson films ("Leave Sauron to me…") which is not encouraging.
The House of the Dragon isn't exactly killing it this time though; the writers seem confused what to do with some of the main characters, so they just linger or stagnate for the entire season.

I think it’s funny that people get upset about the studio stating that there are women directors. The studio doesn’t really care that much about DEI. It’s all about money. They can book a female director with the same ability as a male director for less money. Amazon rarely pays for big name directors. They don’t want anyone with a conflicting vision or who will make expensive demands.
They became friends with Middle-earth enterprises and Tolkiens estate and earned the faith and rights and will do a Epic show that will never be topped by another fantasy by the time it's done.

As an outsider who is fed up with american politics being pushed in every piece of content produced these days, I am not optimistic. The show has its priorities firmly set on diversity, representation and the third one, I forgot what it was... So they will be keeping it around for sure as long as mr Trump is relevant in any way. Before his rise, there were shows which were about cinematography, storytelling, historical authenticity, artistic exoression... Now those are long forgotten, as they gave way to battlefield maneuvers and promoting one side in opposing the other. I guess the rest of the world must wait until Americans settle the great divide, and hope TV for the sake of entertainment will be back afterwards
