As a pure spectacle this was incredible. Yes, there were no-sells a plenty and could be accused of being a spot fest at times, but ultimately I just loved seeing two masters of the art doing things for an HOUR that blew me away. I didn't care who won by the end as I was just enjoying the ride. Wembley just got it's first not to be missed match (assuming there is the rematch).

I was there. Live in Little Rock, Arkansas. The match went over an hour in real time. It was 7 stars in the Tokyo Dome. The crowd fight, the spots, back and forth. It was amazing
I personally thoroughly enjoyed the match, although I do wish they would have cut out the long out of ring segment. Also I do have to question is this the best use of your T.V. time, spending an hour on 2 guys that are already very 'over'. Possibly would have been better to have a 30 min. match and devoted other 30 min. to someone else.
From work rate standpoint, it’s up there for being the best. If the build into was a little better, it would’ve done well emotionally too. Both have had better matches over the last couple years (ironically for both of them with Bryan Danielson) but this is what aew needed, especially going into All In 3

It reminds me of the old days when we still got High Profile Title Matches on weekly shows n not just PPVs which is something WWE stopped doing for so long so the fact AEW gives us so many matches like this on a non PPV show is the reason i stopped watching WWE for a long time n we rarely get Titles changing hands outside of PPVs so im glad we have AEW as an alternative

I look at it like this, yes he did a number of other brutal moves but he’s made it clear that no matter how devastating the rest of his arsenal is, THAT MOVE is too much. It crosses the line and even though he’s said he won’t use it, he’s clearly got the muscle memory telling him to finish his opponent off with it. It didn’t seem like an issue to me, personally but I can understand someone feeling that way about it.

It was quite clearly both one of the best matches both men have ever had, one of AEW's best matches ever (irrespective of show), and deserves to be in the conversation of best matches "ever". Yes, it is fair to say it was that good. You had a story to tell regardless of ending. You had two of their top guys working as hard as they could. Up until they got till the 45 min mark, I did not know how long they would go. Would it be a shenanigans finish? (Don Callis?) Would it be a time limit draw? Would someone get the win, unquestionably? The finish we got - Ospreay failing on the Tiger Driver, MJF cheating, and getting the pinfall with seconds remaining, means Ospreay has now lost both his world title shot, and the Intl Title he held, and now can go on a redemption arc to build back up after going undefeated for months. MJF is the sh*** heel he always was, and now has the second men's title to strut around with. Both guys gave a performance for the ages with only limited commercial interruption, and it was interesting and captivating the entire length of the match. A critique that I think is reasonable is to those who say "it could have stopped at 40-45 mins" Sure, this match would still have been great if it had stopped a little earlier. But I am not sure it would be in quite the same pantheon of matches had it not. Not a match you're going to get often, but that's part of what makes it so special. 10/10 is justified. 100%
I think that this was some good analysis of the match. Personally, going into it I was extremely excited and while watching it I enjoyed bell to bell but I never got “the feeling” I’ve had with other matches like FTR vs Bullet Club or MJF vs Cole, etc. However! I wonder if part of this is I’ve just been watching wrestling too long, because I watched this match with my daughter who only recently started watching some matches with me. In direct contrast to what these guys said about not caring who won, she flinched and gasped every time her guy Osprey kicked out of a two count and then ended the match with tearful eyes as she asked if I thought he would get his belt back … So I think about Shawn vs. Brett and question if part of that is the wonder we had based on our age and fresh exposure to the art form?
This match stressed me out.. first it was thee FIRST match of the night, second I didn't expect it to go 59 minutes! third, after awhile i couldn't tell what Tony Khan was gonna do for this match. fifth, I thought it was gonna be a draw at 60min!! What the heck!!!! MJF saying you can thank me later to me means that got something HUGE for OSPREY!! I don't think this is to blow up MJF. I think this is to BLOW UP OSPREY AND GARCIA!! Ospreay is always great regardless of the result. There are a lot of wrestlers historically who had to be holding a belt, Hogan, Shawn, Lesnar and even Trips HAD to end up holding the belt, usually long term. Whereas these days there’s a few wrestlers who know they’re worth more to their respective company, Ospreay, Danielson, KO and Sami to name a few. For me, they’re the heroes, the ones willing to put on 5 star matches but not necessarily get the notoriety because they lost in the end.
Although this was an amazing match I gotta say I felt more during other long matches, there was a Brian Danielson match that went an hour and I didn't even realize it till it was over. I just can't remember who his opponent was, although to be fair I've also felt more from 20-40 minute matches aswell. This is certainly still one of the best but I wouldn't say best AEW match ever. 😄👍
I thought overall the MJF v Osprey match was incredible. I do understand the criticism though. I did think there was too much of kicking out of finishers. The ending was so contrived it was very difficult to suspend disbelief. As stated overall incredible match though.
Doesn't Osprey not care about Meltzer and his star raring stuff? While I enjoyed the match to me it wasn't the greatest match I've seen on AEW and I can also see why for a portion of the wrestling fandom this wouldn't of been for them.
I would say, storyline-wise, Bret and Shawn knew they were in an iron man match, they knew they were going an hour, so storyline-wise, there would be moments where they'd pace themselves (let alone having to catch their real-life breath! 😂)

I thought it was a pretty great. I can understand people saying its the best AEW match ever. I personally prefer other matches. The first Danielson vs Page match, the Danielson vs Omega match too. And Cody vs Dustin. It's not because this match missed anything. It's just that wrestling, just like all performance art is entirely subjective.

Feel you’d have to let more than 12 hours pass before labeling it the best dynamite match ever. Personally the Danielson/Omega match is the best dynamite match. I thought it was good but the ref leniency thing is dumb, it happens in matches all the time. Also kick outs of the devastating moves all the time takes me out of the match, it just makes me think they don’t know how to perform the move correctly to get the effective damage out. Having it happen once at Wrestlemania or let’s say All In came off as huge, but at a weekly show or their b ple/ppv, I get nothing from it.
The match was enjoyable, I don't get the excessive complaints but then again tribalism in wrestling has become its own thing. I enjoyed the fact that a non-iron man match almost went the full distance, not every match has to be limited to 30 minutes or less, especially when it involves two very protected stars like MJF and Ospreay. Should AEW do such matches all the time? Of course not, and in this particular match I didn't mind the finish and length of it at all. It sets the stage for a rematch at Wembley where Ospreay gets a big win at home soil. I just have to say it, those who are saying "well we already saw this match, why should we do it again at Wembley?" have no clue what booking a wrestling promotion is really like, and they are the same people who loved the idea of a Rhodes vs AJ rematch in back to back PLEs. To each their own, but the tribalism in wrestling has made discussing both products almost insufferable.

AEW has the potential to be a great promotion and actually rival wwe but they just aren’t booked right. They have honestly far superior wrest as is proven by this and other matches but TK just can’t book.
I'm not sure about rivaling WWE but they certainly have the potential to be a great alternative again like they were in the 1st couple of years. They provide different products and cater to different audiences and that's ok.

This match stressed me out.. first it was thee FIRST match of the night, second I didn't expect it to go 59 minutes! third, after awhile i couldn't tell what Tony Khan was gonna do for this match. fifth, I thought it was gonna be a draw at 60min!! What the heck!!!! MJF saying you can thank me later to me means that got something HUGE for OSPREY!! I don't think this is to blow up MJF. I think this is to BLOW UP OSPREY AND GARCIA!! IM HERE FOR IT!!!!
I love long matches when they are done well. AEW has been really good at this. MJF vs Ospreay is another great one. I don't know or care if it is the best, but I enjoyed it.

The pacing was impressive but that was about it for me
Ospreay is always great regardless of the result. There are a lot of wrestlers historically who had to be holding a belt, Hogan, Shawn, Lesnar and even Trips HAD to end up holding the belt, usually long term. Whereas these days there’s a few wrestlers who know they’re worth more to their respective company, Ospreay, Danielson, KO and Sami to name a few. For me, they’re the heroes, the ones willing to put on 5 star matches but not necessarily get the notoriety because they lost in the end.
Although this was an amazing match I gotta say I felt more during other long matches, there was a Brian Danielson match that went an hour and I didn't even realize it till it was over. I just can't remember who his opponent was, although to be fair I've also felt more from 20-40 minute matches aswell.
This is certainly still one of the best but I wouldn't say best AEW match ever.

I thought overall the MJF v Osprey match was incredible. I do understand the criticism though. I did think there was too much of kicking out of finishers. The ending was so contrived it was very difficult to suspend disbelief. As stated overall incredible match though.
Doesn't Osprey not care about Meltzer and his star raring stuff? While I enjoyed the match to me it wasn't the greatest match I've seen on AEW and I can also see why for a portion of the wrestling fandom this wouldn't of been for them.
I would say, storyline-wise, Bret and Shawn knew they were in an iron man match, they knew they were going an hour, so storyline-wise, there would be moments where they'd pace themselves (let alone having to catch their real-life breath! 😂)

Hard to pick the best match between this one and Ospreay vs. Danielson. This WIll is just amazing, best wrestler in the worl right now not even close. AEW are learning how to put a great Dynamite after a great Dynamite!
Have nothing negative to say about the match. It was an incredible aew match. I try to enjoy it. For what it's worth, I do find myself questioning their booking when it comes to Will. But as for the match four out of four black eyes. 😂😂😂
I thought it was a pretty great. I can understand people saying its the best AEW match ever. I personally prefer other matches. The first Danielson vs Page match, the Danielson vs Omega match too. And Cody vs Dustin.

Feel you’d have to let more than 12 hours pass before labeling it the best dynamite match ever. Personally the Danielson/Omega match is the best dynamite match.
I thought it was good but the ref leniency thing is dumb, it happens in matches all the time. Also kick outs of the devastating moves all the time takes me out of the match, it just makes me think they don’t know how to perform the move correctly to get the effective damage out. Having it happen once at Wrestlemania or let’s say All In came off as huge, but at a weekly show or their b ple/ppv, I get nothing from it.

The match was enjoyable, I don't get the excessive complaints but then again tribalism in wrestling has become its own thing. I enjoyed the fact that a non-iron man match almost went the full distance, not every match has to be limited to 30 minutes or less, especially when it involves two very protected stars like MJF and Ospreay. Should AEW do such matches all the time? Of course not, and in this particular match I didn't mind the finish and length of it at all. It sets the stage for a rematch at Wembley where Ospreay gets a big win at home soil.
I just have to say it, those who are saying "well we already saw this match, why should we do it again at Wembley?" have no clue what booking a wrestling promotion is really like, and they are the same people who loved the idea of a Rhodes vs AJ rematch in back to back PLEs. To each their own, but the tribalism in wrestling has made discussing both products almost insufferable.
Your not wrong, AEW only or WWE only people who automatically hate something because the other company done it are crazy. If they hate the other product so much then why watch it or comment on it.

I try to get behind whatculture again but I just don’t get most of their takes, only they can see a masterpiece like MJF vs Will Ospreay and shed so much negative light to it, was it perfect? no, some of the points are valid and there are some issues that I agree but they are minimal compared to the pros and overall was an amazing match. I am not sure what is the point that i’m trying to make other than WhatCulture being very weird about things and it may be just me but it they keep praising everything WWE does and focus on AEW’s flaws rather than the good things they are doing, again, it may be just me, I know no one cares just wanted to vent out my feelings. AEW has the potential to be a great promotion and actually rival wwe but they just aren’t booked right. They have honestly far superior wrest as is proven by this and other matches but TK just can’t book.
I'm not sure about rivaling WWE but they certainly have the potential to be a great alternative again like they were in the 1st couple of years. They provide different products and cater to different audiences and that's ok.

I think this is the way AEW should make his brand: Bring to the people the best matches possible, booking correctly their roster and mostly, not taking shots/comparisons with WWE. AEW can do their job, and Yesterday was a very good show, it's about time to not disappoint over and over again doing childish mistakes
