      Just a question, but why don you give us give a peak at the energy consumption during the test? It may not be particularly scientific in terms of comparison with other cars due to changing conditions etc but most current EV drivers can account for that due to experience. Its far more important info than the exterior walkaround for instance.

      @Banyan314 Год назад

      @@siviterit’s not a value for money thing, although I’m not convinced it is that brilliant when you think of the cost for the “essentials”. It’s more a case of a living with a car with just a “iPad”, very few buttons, no HUD and a below par boot. You’re paying for the brand more than a practical, safe vehicle. I really wanted to like it, and even put down a deposit after seeing it, but on watch all the driver reviews I have cooled considerably and we are likely to request the deposit back. Just disappointment following all the hype.
      Our present Kia E Niro has proved a revelation, but it is time to update, and the external design of the EX30 was very alluring and we thought we’d found the update, but internally the EX30 is far too Spartan and pared back. The Kia EV3 looks like it has what we want on paper and the spec of the EV9 shows us that Kia is moving forward with EV design, not just cutting costs under the disguise of supposed better internal design.

    • @siviter
      @siviter Год назад +1

      @@VenVile it doesn't have cramped back seats for that size of car, it's smaller than an MG 4! In regards to physical buttons, most of the controls they don't have are for set-and-forget settings anyway which are loaded to a user profile. I've had Mini's in the past so the centre Speedo doesn't bother me at all.

    I'm not a fan of some of Kia's design choices, but I love the form factor. At the moment, my daily driver here in the U.S. is a Mustang Mach-E, but we've kept our Chrysler Pacifica Hybrid (PHEV) minivan for those times we need to convey 5 large adults or a lot of cargo. My plan is that, when my Mach-E's lease ends in 2026, I'll probably return it, retire the minivan, and replace them both with a single, 7-seater EV like this (or more probably the coming Ford entry into the segment).

      I think it should be this way ideally. Maybe a footnote, but it’s not like ICE car reviews bang on about how many miles you get in a tank. EV range is a bit of a distraction, most of them are pretty similar so more interesting to focus on the rest of the car.

      Surpasses. The X is useless for an active lifestyle because it won't take a roof rack, and you can't fold the second row seats flat. We bought a Model Y to replace our Santa Fe XL and it mostly works, but the kids will outgrow its third row pretty quickly and we've had to downsize our camping gear. This would have been perfect had it come out a year ago.

    This vehicle is just too big, how many European roads can cope with a vehicle of this size? Surely destined for the US market, you can’t fault the thought process behind the design, it has some really interesting ideas. How efficient was it, no mention of how efficient it was in the cold mountains that is a big heavy vehicle to haul itself up those mountains?

    • @JackScarlett1
      @JackScarlett1 Год назад +2

      Agree it's huge for Europe unless you live in the sticks. North America and Australia will lap it up!
      Efficiency when driving up a very cold mountain full of kit was 1.5 - 2 miles per kwh. We saw over 3 miles per kwh doing more normal driving, which is about as good as you'd expect for a car like this

    In Australia this car is $130K (AUD) plus On Road Costs (not to mention insurance) that is a ludicrous amount of money for a Kia even allowing for the fact that is it an EV. At 2.6 tonnes it is one of the heaviest "light vehicles" on Australian roads and therefore putting a lot of strain on our roads. It is very hard to see the value in car of this size or cost as a planet saver. A cheap (around $30K AUD) run around for the daily school run, the park and ride, the gym and so on is what is needed not small tanks like this. I'm sure it is well made and has all the bells and whistles but people who buy a Kia Cerrato or Picanto (for example) are not the customers who plonk down $130K on this car. Imagine what the battery cost and replacement cost would be in the event of an accident.
