KIA has the benefit of a long history with 7 and 8 seaters. Loved my 2008 Grand Carnival (Sedona). Lots of room, comfort and 3.8L power. This EV9 looks like a carry-on of this, minus the petrol engine. If I had the money it would be top of my list. Well done KIA. Thank you for showing this on this channel.

    Nice first drive review.
As someone who has had a Niro EV for the past year, I absolutely would buy the EV9 over the others. Quality looks really good and we cannot forget that 7 year Kia warranty.
The Niro is a perfect size for my needs now but if you have a young family, the EV9 would be fantastic.

I’m an Audi eTron driver. Just had a look at the EV9 in a showroom. Seriously impressive car. Love the design. Not quite Audi materials, but it offers so much more - space, equipment, tech , charging speed etc and for less money too. Want to see the Ioniq 7 before I sign up to lease one as a replacement for the Audi.

I’ll be ordering one next year. Now Tesla no longer make the 7 seat Model X in RHD ( and even if they still did it would be over £100K) for £76K, 7 seats, all electric, and with over 300 miles of range the EV9 is actually great value.

Looks better from inside imo; exterior won’t be to all tastes, and I’m struggling with that! You have to applaud Kia though for making this, and putting themselves in the 6-7 seater market with little realistic competition.
Should go on to be a roaring success, but I’m going to hold back and see how Ford go with the new electric Galaxy.

  • @Alrukitaf

Right up there with the e-niro, by the look of it. It’s challenging combustion cars in the area where they were previously supremely dominant. And there seems to be massive sales in this area with families with infant children. Easier to take the little ones in and out of, I imagine.

I know nobody cares... but the fake buttons are capacative buttons! Haptic feedback is simply the vibration you get when you press one. Just like your smartphone has a capacative screen which may or may not give haptic feedback depending on whether or not you turn on vibrations.
I'm not moaning at Electrifying, I love this channel... and in any case, all car channels are guilty of this.
Anyway, back to the video. I really like the EV9. I owed a 27kWh Soul and loved it. But the price of an EV9... I could get an ID Buzz for similar money. And I think if I ever did have £60k+ I probably wouldn't get an EV9.

The value on this car is just mad. No competition comes even close to the figures this car costs in terms of bang for buck. It is just ridiculous how far in the back windown the competition is when it comes to large EV design and price compared to quality and features.

Really good review here, but it’s very expensive and it would be interesting to see what the actual range figures would be for the target “audience” ie a 4-5+ family on a fully laden journey, considering you can pick up a 7 seater Kodiaq for half the price, you could plant a lot of trees for £35K…

We have an XC90 T8 PHEV and I've been thinking about when we need to replace it. I love the amount of space it has and it's a great car, but we are debating going fully electric with both cars. Whilst this would be a great option: I think it would be more sensible to get something smaller for our day to day and if absolutely necessary, hire a large car for longer trips (maybe once a year). It's a really tough one, but I want to try to follow the philosophy of getting a smaller car and keeping it for the lifespan of that car.

    • @Harhawink

You can not ignore the fact of when you get to drive this (go and do that). The absolute BOSS-feeling this car gives while driving is unmatched. I was lucky to drive this couple of days ago and a BMW iX and a Model X felt like a peasants car.

@@Harhawink lol I think if I wanted that feeling I’d have a G63! 😂 the Taycan is nice enough for my own use, with the family if needed, it’s more just a nice comfortable family day to day we want and I can’t decide between massive with lots of space and smaller more practical for Englands roads/car parks. I’m erring on the smaller more practical side tbh

First thought huge, second odd looks but then I thought so is a G-Wagon but this half the price. So I had a second look at this 5 meter long monster. It’s practical and for the price you do get a lot including big cup holders for Ginny. The id buzz springs to mind as a alternative to carry a large family around but it’s limited range and lack of performance would make me think. Not for me but I think we will see a few of these around London and on the school run.

I suppose it has exclusivity on its side at this stage anyway with no other electric 6 seaters other than the Model X, I'm guessing. To be fair, it looks great inside in my eyes. There is the EX 90 coming as well as the Ionic 7. EVs, especially with a 100kw battery, are still pricey, too

If you need the space to house extra people it's a pretty decent package and given the spec and interior it's... err hmm a decent price considering some of the options taking into account the decent warranty and reliability. But it is stull a huge amount of cash however you look at it. For airport or hotel executive taxis this should make a lot of sense ferrying the corporate VIP's around. It may never end up on my drive but I sure do like it. Many thanks Ginny for sharing.

    • @Harhawink

Man I would love to see the shocked face when a coprorate VIP orders a "limo"-service and a 6-seater Relax version drives up with a chauffeur in black suit. Another car that doesn't fit into a parking space in the UK. I thought the idea of EVs was that the packaging would be so good that you could fit more people into a smaller car. It just seems that they get bigger and bigger. I know I'm in the minority and it seems a lot of people want the largest car they can afford regardless of whether they need the space or not. I am a hypocrite in a way because I live alone in a three bedroom house.

@@MrRaitzi Do that life cycle emissions factor in the fuel emissions? Also plug-in hybrids produce far more emissions in real world tests as people use them on motor ways more than the test cycle.

Too expensive, especially the base trim with mediocre performance and interior which doesn’t match other luxury vehicles from Mercedes, Lexus, etc… at the same price range

Sorry - which large (5m+) FULL 7 seat Mercedes SUV can you buy “at this price point”. An EQS SUV is about £140,000 vs this at say £60k or about 40%
Mercedes do not make anything that even remotely matches this at anything even close to the price - you need to take off the blinkers.
