All I kept hearing throughout this discussion was the urgency with which President Holland said in April Conference, "I bear witness that when Christ comes, He needs to recognize us-not as nominal members listed on a faded baptismal record but as thoroughly committed, faithfully believing, covenant-keeping disciples. This is an urgent matter for all of us, lest we ever hear with devastating regret: “I never knew you,” or, as Joseph Smith translated that phrase, “[You] never knew me.”
Yes! Exactly what I was coming on here to write. “What he actually said was keep my commandments.” So good. Our prophets and apostles know their stuff just like they know Him.
Jesus never knew them because they were frauds, fake Christians pretending and doing a great job of it and being very successful monetarily. Jesus isn't talking about your average Christian who are also sinners like the fake Christians. God doesn't have buttons that you push and you get God to do your bidding.
If the animals were considered family, then it puts a whole new perspective on the story of the prodigal son that I had never considered before. The father sacrifices one of the "family" when he orders an animal be prepared for the feast to welcome home his son. Like Heavenly Father sacrificed his son so that we can return home like the prodigal son. Great stuff! Love this channel!
Yes part of Passover was to bring the lamb into the home for x numbers of days before the slaughter. I wonder if there were ever Jews that couldn't follow through. 🤔
This episode and topic was soooo refreshing! I can’t tell you how often I face palm every time we, as members, try to weasel our way out of the concept of salvation by grace. We try sooo hard to try to fit in with mainstream Christians that we throw Nephi and Joseph Smith under the bus because of 2 Nephi 25:23. Andrea clearly teaches that the 5 foolish virgins werent worthy because they DIDN’T PUT IN THE EFFORT. This is truth.
Moroni 7:46- "if ye have not charity, ye are nothing." Thank you for this additional wonderful insight into the story of the 10 virgins. I am always enlightened by Andrea AND Dave, so having them together was a huge blessing.❤
How do we love God? In the April 2015 Conference then Elder Nelson has taught us: How do we hallow the Sabbath day? In my much younger years, I studied the work of others who had compiled lists of things to do and things not to do on the Sabbath. It wasn’t until later that I learned from the scriptures that my conduct and my attitude on the Sabbath constituted a sign between me and my Heavenly Father.12 With that understanding, I no longer needed lists of dos and don’ts. When I had to make a decision whether or not an activity was appropriate for the Sabbath, I simply asked myself, “What sign do I want to give to God?” That question made my choices about the Sabbath day crystal clear. What sign do we want to give God? If that is our constant motivation, not just on Sunday's but every day.
I have so much love and respect for you three. Ella, you did your brothers proud. Andrea, as always, it was good to learn from you. And, Dave, you are a hero to me. You inspire me and make me want to be more informed and live a better life.
The commandments are keeping His personal instructions to us each day. We must hear His voice personally and keep these commandments He gives us on a daily basis.
I see this as an intimate relationship with Christ, the bridegroom. Do we truly trust Him, no matter what? Do we commune with Him every day , sometimes all day? Do we want to please Him and doubt not; fear not? I have so far to go!
This brings to mind something I once read in one of Brandon Sanderson's books. Brandon-who, for those who don't know, is a devout member of the church-implied that perhaps the two things religion is most used for are: 1. Telling other people that their beliefs are inferior. 2. Believers cursing on the names of their gods and holy figures. And I think that's the primary thing that will prevent many Christians from truly knowing Jesus. Anyone who claims to believe in Christ but who can't think of anything better to do with their religion other than swear or mock and belittle others is a false Christian and cannot hope to match up to those who actually try to better themselves and help the poor and the downtrodden.
This reminds me of one of the most fascinating scriptural promises given by the Savior in D&C: “7 Thus came the voice of the Lord unto me, saying: All who have died without a knowledge of this gospel, who would have received it if they had been permitted to tarry, shall be heirs of the celestial kingdom of God; 8 Also all that shall die henceforth without a knowledge of it, who would have received it with all their hearts, shall be heirs of that kingdom; 9 For I, the Lord, will judge all men according to their works, according to the desire of their hearts.” It puts all the more requirement on those who have the fullness of the gospel to show in their deeds a full purpose of heart and integrity in their discipleship.
That Matt 7:21 has me cross referencing it to revelation 19:10 Not just because we have a testimony but we need to be converted - we have need to become like he is by doing what he did.
I thought JST said “YOU never knew me.” Which makes more sense, as he knows us perfectly - but do we know him. Although I think the lesson taught here is still valid. If we are where He is, live like He is, we will learn of each other. Although he is all knowing, he can’t guide our will we are unwilling to give, or as to say He is not willing to override our agency.
Yes, JST version makes better sense to me. The responsibility lies with us to seek light and Truth, and find HIM. Keep His word, and come to truly know him. Know His voice, His way of doing things…build Zion. Live higher laws. Love your videos!
Repentance is one way I have come to understand what it means to know Christ. Repentance is work! Keeping the commandments is work! Our choices define our works. Faith in your works in these things is not dead, but alive in Him.
I think Andrea asked at one point “what does it mean to keep the commandments?” We don’t usually look at keep in military terms; it can then mean “to watch over and defend.” “Keep us from harm.”
I sure hope these comments are read by the presenters. Andrea and Dave, thank you, as always, for your insights. I would add, we come to look/be like Jesus by following His commandments, which are to Love God/neighbor, AND what does that look like? How do we become righteous? From the Garden of Eden we've known good/righteousness from evil. That's the "knowing." What are we supposed to do about it? Matthew 25:31-46. We become like Him, He knows us, because we minister to the least of these WITH His full compassion in our hearts; which we have to ASK for in order to receive! This kind of sacrificial compassion doesn't come naturally to us. We have to DESIRE it and go to great lengths to rip our hearts wide open in order to receive it. The Lord makes it crystal clear that there is NO other way to enter His Kingdom. Period. When all the nations are judged, on the last day, we will be known unto Him by the depth of our compassion for those most in need of it, which mirrors HIS compassion for ALL of us. This goes way beyond helping someone move or providing a couple days of meals. Very few people are WILLING to recognize this heavily inconvenient Truth. I am a blind, mobility impaired senior on Disability, so I live well below the poverty line and have no possibility of earning more unless I can find meaningful, flexible work from home. I have no more close family on earth. I tell people in my ward how much help I need, how lonely I am, how sick and in pain, both physical and emotional. The response, when there is any, is minimal, and designed to be of least bother and sacrifice to the respondents, and only minimally and incidentally fulfills something I may stand in need of. Do we really know the Lord? Thank you, again.
I read your comment. I also went to your channel and found that you are quite a lovely musician. New subscriber. played your music aloud this morning and now my son is singing your songs. What a lovely spirit you’ve brought into my home. Thank you. ❤ I hope you are able to find more support and companionship. Do you mind me asking where you live?
I can't wait for the book to be released by Andrea. Please be sure to make it available for your followers in Australia 🇦🇺. I'm still waiting for the book from Jonah to be available here. I and several friends are constantly watching Amazon Australia for a version other than Kindle. Please help 🙏.
I waited through 3/4ths of the video, on the edge of seat to see if charity (two greatest commandments upon which hangeth all the law and prophets) would be brought up and then it was glorious to hear Charity and "becoming" pointed out and discussed. Moroni 7 and section 121 of the doctrine wnd covenants also come to mind. In Moroni 7 of course is that famously known last verse that instructs us to not only pray for Charity but to pray with our whole heart to be filled with that love so that we might be like him when he appears. If we are truly fully of Charity we will work on eliminating sin from our lives and be in a state of "becoming". I think repentance and charity go hand in hand until we become and are made like God with the help of Christs empowering grace, envisioned as Christ yoking himself with us or us deciding to be yoked to Christ. We cannot become like him without his tutoring and mentorship and power to change. Section 121 points out the true disciple (even though it discusses priesthood i believe it includes the women too). Note verse 34: "many are called but few are chosen"? Called to what? Besides callings in the church i think it more broadly discusses being called to become sons and daughters of God through baptism and then throughout the covenantal process found in the temple and worked through individually in the repentance process (takes a lifetime and beyond;its not an event). Anyone can be called. But, few are chosen. What does it mean to be chosen? (My mind shifts to elder Bednars talk "converted unto the Lord". We learn from Christ that the greatest commandments are to develop Charity. Charity toward God, man, and ourselves (we fall in the category of "neighbor"). To be chosen surely includes and is made up of a large portion of loving others, treating them in a God-like way. The end of verse 34 asks: "And why are they not chosen?" Continuing in verses 35 - 37 we get the answer: "...their hearts are set...upon the things of this world, and aspire to the honors of men, that they do not learn this one lesson- 36. That the rights of the priesthood are inseparably connected with the powers of heaven [which] cannot be controlled nor handled only upon the principles of righteousness." We then learn in verse 37 that covering sins (not confessing or trying to acknowledge the need to repent; having a hard heart), indulging in pride, vain ambitions, exercising control, dominion, or compulsion in any degree of unrighteousness (even slightly) will grieve the Spirit and cause it to withdraw (selfish, unloving, egotistical, superiority-like behavior i believe is part of what causes Christ to say "you never knew me"). The Lord wants us to treat even the least with love and worth. Ive experienced many moments from members (many leaders but also lay members) who rolled their eyes at me, treated me as an inferior, judged me, talked doen to me, etc. ive seen this happen to others. Charity never faileth. And i rejoice when i see love toward even the least among us. There is no such thing as someone being worth less (treated like they are worthless) in a church whose doctrine is the eternal value of a soul. When we treat someone poorly we are doing that to a God in embryo. The Savior taught we are doing that to him.
It’s always interesting hearing these different perspectives. I’m finally starting to look much deeper into the scriptures and truly trying to understand. I’ve already been allowed to look through the keyhole so now I am striving to be worthy to enter the door. If our father is the master of the house and the Lord is the door, then I think our mother was originally the keeper of the door and has now given those keys to the Lord, who then passed some of those keys on to Adam and so forth. Sorry if that doesn’t make sense. It sounded better in my head. One of the ways to the Lord gets to know us is the same way we get to know each other. By communicating constantly. Talking and listening. Conversation… Intimate conversation is the best way to get to know someone and the sound of their voice. So we read the Scriptures and get to know him by hearing and seeing his words and we speak aloud to him when we pray so that he knows our voice, especially if we are praying from the heart. He sees our hearts and hears our voice therefore he gets to know us and we get to know him. I also was thinking that he wants us to live as he did while he was on earth and Apollo in his footsteps as closely as possible so that we can experience Life Through his eyes and his heart. That is also under the way we get to know him because we live our lives like him and obey his commandments and walk in his footsteps. It will be as if we are walking right behind him experiencing all that he did which will help us appreciate who he is.
It also relates to one being given the gift of the Holy Ghost "Receive the Holy Ghost", one's heart and soul must grasp and hold onto and 'actually receive, accept fully, taking upon ourselves the name of Jesus Christ "
You have spoken absolute unbiblical nonsense and have shown that like all those in this video, you know absolutely nothing of the truth of the Bible. Repent!
The idea of knowing Jesus and becoming like him when we show up at the gate or door reminds me of the famous sermon by Moroni's father, Mormon concerning faith, hope and charity (which should take our minds to a 3 part space, charity being the highest and most sacred space to aim for) in which, speaking of charity, said in Moroni 7:46-48 "46 Wherefore, my beloved brethren, if ye have not charity, ye are nothing, for charity never faileth. Wherefore, cleave unto charity, which is the greatest of all, for all things must fail- 47 But charity is the pure love of Christ, and it endureth forever; and whoso is found possessed of it at the last day, it shall be well with him. 48 Wherefore, my beloved brethren, pray unto the Father with all the energy of heart, that ye may be filled with this love, which he hath bestowed upon all who are true followers of his Son, Jesus Christ; that ye may become the sons of God; that when he shall appear we shall be like him, for we shall see him as he is; that we may have this hope; that we may be purified even as he is pure. Amen." The main phrase to help with the connection is " that when he shall appear we shall be like him, for we shall see him as he is" Those filled with charity become like Jesus. This appears to confirm what Andrea was teaching: When the savior comes to the door, will you recognize him, and his voice? how? because his image is in your countenance and you have learned to #hearhim. Another thought is about a temple theme episode in the story of the brother of Jared on the mountain. When the viel was partially opened he was shocked, yes, but ultimately he recognized the savior because he saw that he was created in his image or in other words part of his family because by this point the brother of Jared had obeyed all that the Lord commanded - including, putting God first and loving him with all his heart, might, mind and strength and loving his neighbour as himself. For this, he had demonstrated enough faith or trust to be brought beyond the viel. In Adrea's teaching, similar to being allowed through the gate or door into the wedding feast in the holy of holies.
:) I should have finished listening to everything before typing my thoughts. Ella shared this same idea and scripture after I had typed my thoughts. Well I am grateful for the spirit confirming these truths to me as I was listening in real time according to what I was ready to learn at this time. For that I am grateful.
I appreciate both Andrea & Dave & their insightful teachings. Their insights on this podcast though made me feel like I can never be good enough to enter God’s presence, no matter how hard I try. It made me wonder if there is any point in even trying.
Thank you so much for this video! I can’t wait for the book!.. thank you so much sister for all the things you are teaching us! ❤ Something here made me understand something in my patriarcal blessing 😭 thank you! I think that He needs people that can live the law of consecration and help others those will be the wise ones that will go to the feast, if we are not really converted and having that love and charity for real it will be hard to live the law of consecration. Many have accepted it and we remember it all the time in the temple but when the time comes for real it’ll be hard for many of us.
I’m reminded of Lectures on Faith as being an excellent source for coming to -know- God - Lectures on Faith; a vein of study I feel is important for me to put into practice to avoid hearing “I never knew you”
I also think there is a connection to the Order of Melchezidek covenants in the endowment - becoming One with the Savior, having complete fidelity in our devotion to Him
I don’t know how some members use the corrupt translation, but the JST corrects that miss translation. Christ actually said,” ye never knew me” I see the dear sister eventually used the correct translation. The Lord himself gives us the understanding of the parable of the ten virgins in a revelation given to the prophet Joseph, D&D 45:56-57, 63:53-54 “56 And at that day, when I shall come in my glory, shall the parable be fulfilled which I spake concerning the ten virgins. 57 For they that are wise and have received the truth, and have taken the Holy Spirit for their guide, and have not been deceived…” “53 These things are the things that ye must look for; and, speaking after the manner of the Lord, they are now nigh at hand, and in a time to come, even in the day of the coming of the Son of Man. 54 And until that hour there will be foolish virgins among the wise; and at that hour cometh an entire separation of the righteous and the wicked;..” The wise virgins are those “who have taken the Holy Ghost as their guide,” they are the righteous and the unwise virgins are the wicked, those who have not taken the Holy Ghost as their guide. This division of the virgins is the separation of the righteous from the wicked. The Lord has expounded this unto us for understanding for it is given unto us to know and understand the parables because we are members of his kingdom. I don’t know how you guys is this, its best to seek learning by the spirit and turn to the revelations for answers God has already given. No guess work.🙏🏽 The Lord restored many plain and precious truths through the prophet Joseph Smith so the saints won’t be ignorant to the things of God. 🙏🏽
Yes now how would you define the wicked from the righteous? I don't think everyone really knows. It's a lot more than just keep yourself holy. Keeping yourself holy is part of HAVING the holy Spirit. But the holy Spirit is only part of end goal as well. I am learning too and I really think we have been deceived as members in our understanding of what is righteous vs wicked. This video definitely touches on the true separation. President Nelson has been trying to clarify it. We must study, really study, the words of Christ and the Atonement. So we will recognize Him and He will recognize us as He is. We must be careful not to follow a Jesus of our own making. Jesus fits no bias. Not on the left or the right. And yes I mean that political too
I thought the parable of 10 virgins is basically about those that are wise kept their covenants, and those that are unwise didn't keep their covenants. Simple as that!
Great episode. This is a question that I have constantly battled in my mind. And I think the fact that anyone is worried about it is the difference between a wise and foolish virgin. The foolish ones are too careless to do anything right now.
In the book, Return From Tomorrow, a man dies and meets Christ and then is sent back. He’s not happy about having to come back to this earth, but then he meets people in various places and he can see in their eyes, the same love that he saw in the Savior’s eyes. I think that’s what it means when it says that we have received his image in our countenance. When others look at us, they see the love of Christ in our eyes.
It goes back to where our heart is, like Christ said that’s where our treasures will be. President oaks has a book called life in heart, he defines it as (If we act for the right motives and if we refrain from forbidden desires and attitudes, we have pure hearts.)
If the unwise virgins did not know the bridegroom (Christ). Perhaps another symbolic interpretation the unwise virgins knew the bride (his church) and neglected their opportunity to get to know him.
2 Cor 4:6. For God, who commanded the light to shine out of darkness, hath shined in our hearts, to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ.
18:50 - This makes sense to me from a very human perspective. When I was a little girl, our family raised goats. As children, we were always very, very upset when a goat was killed for food - because they were our friends. We played with them and loved them and trained them, just like dogs and horses that people have these days. I’m sure it was the same way for those families back then.
I have a tendency to comment before i listen to the whole video. The big question we should ask ourselves, Why am I doing what I am doing? Am I doing it to be seen of men or to be like Christ. Am I just doing it to get gain. I am reminded of the scripture in Revelation 3:20. I think it is a matter of allowing him to enter and be the center of our lives. We all need to truly know him individually, so that we may know his voice and he also knows ours. We will be one and he will know us, because we will be like him. We choose how much we are willing to sacrifice to obtain our relationship with Christ.
Wouldn't it be interesting to dive into Ether 12:6 and the importance of having faith to build a personal testimony and understand why we receive blessings and witness miracles? I love your videos...
10:23 I think it was E Oaks who said the other 5 virgins weren’t wicked, they were unprepared, so I don’t believe they were left in outer darkness, I think that might be a wrong interpretation. They might, for example, be out of Adam Ondi Ahman or highest degree of Celestial kingdom or something else, etc.
The essential idea you are missing is due to the fact that you are thinking in a Western, Gentile, Greek, Modern perspective that "knowing" is about recognition. As in if I know you I can recognize who you are because I have seen you before and have talked with you. The Gospels were thought of in Hebrew, Composed of in Hebrew and Written in Hebrew. Knowing in Hebrew means to have a personal intimate relationship. So when Christ says "I never knew you" it is because there is no personal intimate relationship, Why? Because one is not "Doing the will my Father". It takes action to have a personal intimate relationship which does not come about by sitting on a bench every week.
Ether 2:15 for my spirit will not always strive with man.. cut off from my presence... This verse or ones like it are everywhere in the scriptures, telling us that "now is the time to prepare to meet God" now is the time to wrestle with the spirit, enter into his presence before that cut off, Before that curse. Andrea and Dave, I think your right about there being 2 different feasts. Even in 3rd Nephi, 2 different feasts take place. One is where the "angel-priests" provide bread and wine, and then wherein the Lord himself provides it to the angel-priests who the lord has spiritually brought up, and redeemed from the fall, then they are commanded to go and help the multitude to come up spiritually, andchave that same experience they just had with the Lord. When he says he keeps my commandments knows him, think back to the doctrine of Christ.in the first 10 or so verses of 2Nephi 32, First you speak with the tongue of angels, the words of christ will tell you what to do, the holy ghost will show you what to do, then a few verses later Nepgi tells us then you SEE Christ while in the flesh (as in your still alive) and that he will give you commandments, see that you do them, and no more will be given until you do. At this point Christ has become our "Father" we have become sons and daughters covenantal. As Christ saw his father on the mount of transfiguration, recieved commandments from him then went and did his will by drinking the bitter cup, we too must see Christ, recieve his commands, and then be willing to do them and consecrate them even if it so be our very lives. We must sacrifice as he did, not the exact same sacrifice but in similitude of his sacrifice. Before every Veil is an alter.
One key thing to remember is that the sermon on the mount, Matthew Chapter 5, changes from followers of Christ, as was in Chapter 4, to disciples. 4:25 And there followed him great multitudes of people from Galilee, and from Decapolis, and from Jerusalem, and from Judaea, and from beyond Jordan. 5:1 And seeing the multitudes, he went up into a mountain: and when he was set, his disciples came unto him: What is required to come up the mountain? Clean hands and pure hearts. From Psalms 24 comes. 3 Who shall ascend into the hill of the Lord? or who shall stand in his holy place? 4 He that hath clean hands, and a pure heart; who hath not lifted up his soul unto vanity, nor sworn deceitfully. 5 He shall receive the blessing from the Lord, and righteousness from the God of his salvation. 6 This is the generation of them that seek him, that seek thy face, O Jacob. Selah. Are we followers but not coming up to Him? Or disciples?
If ye are prepared ye shall not fear. God is full of grace and truth. We focus on the journey of the foolish virgins but we should also highlight how smooth the wedding feast was for the wise ones. If you are “wise” you can be fearless.
When the unprepared show up the doorman sees the lack of preparation is a poison to us. Again though the Lord wants us to be with him, we must want it and be prepared for it.
Fantastic! What a great job developing what Jesus means by "wise". Maybe a little more work on what leads up to this parable in Matt 24 (two distinct periods and important for understanding) and use that cleverness to figure out who the "wise and faithful" servant is at the end of Matt 24. The text talks about this servant as an individual, even though everyone thinks the Lord is speaking about classes of people. It is a person.
Another great scripture about knowing is in Mosiah 5 12 I say unto you, I would that ye should remember to retain the name written always in your hearts, that ye are not found on the left hand of God, but that ye hear and know the voice by which ye shall be called, and also, the name by which he shall call you. 13 For how knoweth a man the master whom he has not served, and who is a stranger unto him, and is far from the thoughts and intents of his heart?
There are no scriptures outside of the 66 books of the Bible. Outside of these 66 book, is only fraud and deception. Repent of your 100% fake con artist made religion!
Hi Andrea, along with the parable in Matthew, information in 3rd Nephi chapter 6 let's us know other things that distinguish between those who met Christ when he visited the Nephites and those who were destroyed
You have done an excellent job of demonstrating the ineffectiveness of parables. Unwise, because they were unprepared and without oil. Then they get to the gate and it does not matter because there is some obscure requirement they were unaware of. The BOM teaches that the Lord employs no servant “there”, meaning at the gate. It would be impossible for “HIM” to not know anyone arriving there. So, he can explain why they cannot enter. So, in addition to the confusing parable we have your interpretations of the parable and we are no closer to understanding what they lacked. Ever the temple signs and tokens that we learn and must show the angels and sentinels is contradicted by the BOM that states Jesus employs no servants, lest they be deceived. The temple removes Jesus from his stated role in the BOM. The second anointing further removes Jesus and modern apostles declare men and women clean from the blood and sins of this generation and unless the shed innocent blood they are guaranteed salvation. We cannot know what we truly lack and in the church it ultimately does not matter because of the second anointing.
@ God has designed this existence so that I can’t take it up with him. I am therefore left with contradictions, guesses, philosophies of men, and even well intentioned prophets who can be completely wrong. Meanwhile, these people make money publishing books and sell us their interpretations and in reality they are no more helpful than the lacking parable was at getting to real meaning of what it was the virgins who ultimately did have oil were banned for.
@@ericredd5590 By definition, a parable is not meant to be literal. I think the point is we have to be ready. The 5 foolish changed their ways but the event had passed. I do think there are common messages pushed through these channels that imply you and I aren’t doing enough. I don’t think that is the hope promised by keeping gospel covenants. If you’re having issues with these types of videos, I’m confident the Lord will teach you through your own study line upon line.
@ I said ineffective. Thank you for your opinion on the parable. Your interpretation is very different than the ideas presented. The woman even feels the need to write a book in order to share her more complex interpretations.
I love how the Savior starts with 100 sheep, then 10 coins and the the one son. He shows how much each of us are inportant. In the 100 we think that there is so many that He will not miss one. Then the coin parable make us wonder if one will ve missed. Then the son who in his mind (the son) he believes that one will not be worthy and will be ok as a servant only to be given a robe, ring and feast. We matter but we must come to him with rhe broken heart and contrite spirit.
Whenever I come to the section where Christ is turning water into wine at the wedding, and presenting it before the guests, I think of the groom setting the goblet of wine in front of his potential bride and waiting for her to drink I wonder if there is a connection…
Do I look forward to it? Yes, been looking forward to it since I was a little kid, always had a feeling I would never grow old. Now, am I prepared for it? I don't anyone will be. I've heard it will be similar to the events prior to when Christ came to the America's. Could be a interdimensional level i.e. the dropping of the veil
I’m sorry, but I believe you are mistaken. The JST is completely without merit and not true to the original text. Plus, it is missing the whole point of the text. Salvation is only via a relationship with Christ, that is to be known by Him. He is the source of life not us.
@@PrairieChristianOutreachReread the New Testament without the unilateral grace of the pagan philosopher Plotinus that Augustine replaced the reciprocal grace (charis) of scripture. You can accept much of the New Testament and what Christ requires of man to accept His atonement once the pagan unilateral grace is disposed of.
@@JD-pr1et A couple of comments/questions. 1. You actually believe JS reversed such bias? He was just parroting 19th century Methodism in much of his soteriology and at times missing the true point of Methodism. 2. What aspects of orthodox soteriology do you specifically see as pagan philosophy? Does the philosophy do damage to the Hebraic thought paradigm? 3. My point is still fact. The JST is absolutely incorrect and demonstrably so. The LDS church has no right to ask fellow Christians to take it seriously. At the end of the day Christ is the true and only way. That is not pagan or western philosophy, but rather the whole truth of valid Scripture. Blessings.
@PrairieChristianOutreach 1. You misunderstand the nature of the JST. Much more prophetic commentary on older scripture much as we see in the New Testament and Book of Mormon. 2. Non-scriptural items such as Aristotle's creation from nothing (instead of the original Hebrew organization of chaotic matter), Plotinus' unilateral grace, faith as mere belief, Sola scriptura, the One (or Other) of Plato which was added to scripture to invent the Nicene Trinity, confession as flapping one's lips as opposed to 1st century confession, etc. I used to believe all those non-scriptural items as an Evangelical before finding the restoration of Christ's original Church.
@ 1. I think I understand the nature behind the JST better than you. It is a fabrication by an 19th century fundamentalist who believed himself to be a prophet. The book is not a valid translation and a poorly copied paraphrase using 19th century commentaries. 2. You miss the deeper Hebraic of the text. Western philosophy only applies explanations to how they observed the text. A. Trinitarian oneness predates Nicene by centuries and it is verifiable in history and archaeological. B. Creation ex nihilo is a distinguishing mark of Hebraic thought. The Word is everything. Early Hebrews separated their philosophy from other surrounding cultures by emphasizing their differences. Westerners just highlighted these nuances. How else to you interpret “In the beginning God” and compare to the “I Am”? C. Salvation via Grace alone is the bulwark of Hebraic mind. Eze. 36:25-28. The orthodox soteriology is the standard salvation concept throughout Scripture. There is only one covenant of salvation and Christ is the only mediator. The LDS concept of the sanctuary is foreign to any Biblical doctrine. You can conflate the issues, but it all goes back to good exegesis of the Bible. One cannot throw out everything as apostasy so we have the right to rewrite it all….you don’t have that privilege and neither did JS. Blessings.
strait; signifying "directs" or the place (ie strait street) to go where one is directed. The place being undeviating, unalterable, as in a strait (straight) course
This topic especially how it is emphasized in places like Moroni 7:46, always terrifies me. Because charity is so un-natural to me. I feel like I have learned how to behave at an outward level but by nature I’m still a bitter, jealous and elitist snob. I’ve made progress but I feel like I have so much more work to do.
Many of us are, small steps daily to point us into that direction. Pleading with the Lord to learn it. Pleading to see someone that I have issues with as He sees them. Asking to see myself as He sees me, learning that He loves me even though I am the way I am has even helped immensely. Every time we attend the temple, putting more of our bitterness, elitism and jealousy on the alter of sacrifice. If we never start, if we never try we will never know if we were able to overcome and master ourselves. I say this in sincerity as I literally have to work on bitterness, negativity, not be a drill sergeant but a loving, nurturing mom. I’m not sure why I have issues loving, caring and thinking outside of myself but the more I keep trying, repenting I become refined, changed and more able to have charity. Continual self checks to see where I am, make sure I’m not back sliding and that I am moving forward. You got this and can do a lot better than I.
How about this? We are the bride and we’re the 10 virgins. Then the 10 virgins are ten brides, a plural marriage. Otherwise why the bride is never mentioned in the parable of the ten virgins? Moreover, why are they virgins if they’re not the brides? Who cares about the sexual status of invitees unless they’re brides? They’re not just simple invitees, but main characters, the brides.
When an active member appears on the up and up... but you know they are liars. That when it is important and need to speak the truth to correct a family drama... and refuse to be honest because it would break this perfect show they have going on. To me that is an example of the Lord saying You never knew me... what we present to the world and hide the coward that you are through lies.
When we are born of God, we are entering in at the straight gate ie baptism. When we are baptized into Christ’s true Church we are then His child, reborn to Him, we belong to Him, and we are of His countenance. Baptism is the first ordinance we make to become His, a part of His family. After baptism we then continue onward and upward towards becoming more like Him. And of course we can’t just say, “Well, I got baptized so I’m good”. But I also think this discussion could go around and around in circles. We sometimes make things too complicated. I truly believe the Parable of the 10 Virgins means those of us who are baptized and then endure to the end. It’s just that simple.
So, in the ancient wedding tradition, does the bride groom give the bride commandments? Is there an exchange of vows? Do they correspond to the scriptural analogy of the wedding?
Herein is Wisdom: A 'virgin' takes on two vows or covenants in Jewish tradition which is paralleled in Later Day Temple ritual. The ceremony combines two formerly separate ceremonies: erusin (betrothal) and nissuin (marriage). In the symbolism and literal meaning, the first is the promise to keep the commandments (vows) until the marriage is solemnized, wherein the contract is actualized/executed. The one being a promise, the other fulfilment of the promise. The former on Earth in a probational state the latter received into Heaven according the compliance/obedience to the covenants. Let this suffice for now
I hope someone is going to talk about the significance of the Red Heffers. I know it is not our birth right or our inheritance, or our work; however it speaks to the signs of the time and the coming of the Messiah. Please some one talk about it! It is so important!!! It does pertain to us even if not directly.
The Red Heifer is a Mosaic principle that has not relevance to Latter day Temple work. It only appeases the weak minded and has no merit to the Law of Sacrifice
It really doesn’t, and that does not come into play until the final act… before His 2nd Coming. Zion has started to be prepared, the government is spewing alien manifestations and telling us they live in the ocean/earth to get us conditioned so that when the return of the actual lost 10 tribes occurs we’re numb to it & still under their “control”, so much has to happen before Christ reigns in Zion and the millennium to kick off, then the sign of Christ’s coming being the return of the City of Enoch… then that all occurs.
They were all members of the church. All invited to the feast. But were not ready when the bridegroom came.when Christ returns many will not be worthy.
So the challenge I am having with all of this is that in “Goodness & D Mysteries” the perspective is from the Shalem priests and priestess. These are the coronated initiates the peaceable followers as Mormon describes them. See also D&C 76:51-70. These are the members before Christ comes exemplified by Nephi 2 grandson of Helaman 2 that fought the gadianton robbers by the power in which they taught the gospel. See 3 Nephi 7:15-20. But again this is a coronated initiate see 3 Nephi 8:1 The challenge is that one we as a people don’t follow the charge to avoid all loud laughter and the evil speaking of the Lords anointed so we unintentionally disqualify ourselves from having a healthy discussion about the depth of how to get to the place of the first five virgins. Second because of this call it disobedience? For lack of a better term we are made completely ashamed to talk about the end - coronation and its ordinances or what it requires to be a shalem initiate. Yet clearly Joseph in the last two years of his life, in the red brick store and the grove sermons did everything he could to draw the saints, us included, to the coronation. Surprisingly in the 1833 school of the prophets minute book caution became the view of the sweet 15 as they felt the endowments were received to easily in the rush coming out of Nauvoo and were not respected by the membership. The conclusion was to reduce initiation especially as it pertained to coronation. Yet I see a point were the draw of the world is so overwhelming that to truly share our position to teach like Nephi 2 maybe the only way to move forward. The power in sister Woodmancy and Brother Butlers teaching is analogous to Nehi2 but with no disrespect to them I doubt they have been through the experience hinted at in 3 Nephi 8:1 which to me is very sad. President Nelson is begging us to go to the temple frequently. My only hope is that it will lead to more couples being coronated outside the leadership of the three fold mission of the church in Temple, mission and stake presidents and now area authorities. That those who are striving to be known and humbly bow beneath the rod or scepter might have the spiritual capacity to be coronated to be able to teach with power and humility like Nehi 2 or Ammon in our communities. Not only to be prepared for the wedding feast at Di Ahman but to gather many to likewise be worthy to receive the bridegroom and be welcomed there. But as sister Woodmancy stated just showing up in the pews once a week is insufficient Such wonderful information presented by you both I pray as an audience we will take it seriously and with the reverence sufficient to be known and know the bridegroom Yours in the Faith
Pres Nelson said in the last conf., that the way to prepare for Christ return is to attend the temple. The spiritual strength gained there will help us endure His glory.
The reason Jesus didn't know the virgins and they didn't know Him is because they were not born again children of Christ by covenant. He didn't know they because they were not His covenant born again children. We MUST be born again.
Yes it is very frightening when the Savior makes those statements- that I never knew you!, but I wonder if all of these folks casting out devils and on and on, I wonder if their works are in darkness when no one is looking and perhaps that is why president Nelson is directed by the Lord to preach to us to stay on the Covenant path? And he is always teaching us that.
It occurred to me that when the foolish virgins returned to knock they were not escorted or accompanied at the gate as the wise virgins were. Could that mean anything?
Indeed it does but not so as for lack of oil. Those who are presented at the veil are done so by escorts (servants) of the Lord Those who are escorted from spirit to immortality, who are righteous, are accompanied by those from a realm of glory (wise virgins). Those who are not worthy are not presented at the veil and have no escorts...because they have no oil or tokens
I kept thinking about what President Holland had said, too. ❤
Yes! Exactly what I was coming on here to write. “What he actually said was keep my commandments.”
So good. Our prophets and apostles know their stuff just like they know Him.
@ It’s always encouraging when others are hearing the same message. Thank you!
@@charlottegardenhire6408 Yes they do! It’s always encouraging when others are hearing the same message. Thank you!
They didn't put in what effort?
@@cowboypatriottestimony and BECOMING LIKE CHRIST. Did you even watch the video?
Moroni 7:46- "if ye have not charity, ye are nothing."
Thank you for this additional wonderful insight into the story of the 10 virgins. I am always enlightened by Andrea AND Dave, so having them together was a huge blessing.❤
Knowing that the gospel is true is the essence of a testimony. Consistently being true to the gospel is the essence of conversion.

I would love to be notified when Andrea’s book comes out! I love the way she teaches and her knowledge of scriptures and Hebrew customs.
I see Andrea Woodmansee, I click! 🌟
Me too!!
How do we love God?
In the April 2015 Conference then Elder Nelson has taught us:
How do we hallow the Sabbath day? In my much younger years, I studied the work of others who had compiled lists of things to do and things not to do on the Sabbath. It wasn’t until later that I learned from the scriptures that my conduct and my attitude on the Sabbath constituted a sign between me and my Heavenly Father.12 With that understanding, I no longer needed lists of dos and don’ts. When I had to make a decision whether or not an activity was appropriate for the Sabbath, I simply asked myself, “What sign do I want to give to God?” That question made my choices about the Sabbath day crystal clear.
What sign do we want to give God? If that is our constant motivation, not just on Sunday's but every day.
amen
I have so much love and respect for you three. Ella, you did your brothers proud. Andrea, as always, it was good to learn from you. And, Dave, you are a hero to me. You inspire me and make me want to be more informed and live a better life.
Yes to all! Dave is my hero too!
I would love to be notified when Andrea’s book comes out. Thank you all for your consecration and dedication 🫶
Woop!
This brings to mind something I once read in one of Brandon Sanderson's books. Brandon-who, for those who don't know, is a devout member of the church-implied that perhaps the two things religion is most used for are:
1. Telling other people that their beliefs are inferior.
2. Believers cursing on the names of their gods and holy figures.
And I think that's the primary thing that will prevent many Christians from truly knowing Jesus. Anyone who claims to believe in Christ but who can't think of anything better to do with their religion other than swear or mock and belittle others is a false Christian and cannot hope to match up to those who actually try to better themselves and help the poor and the downtrodden.
excellent point
This reminds me of one of the most fascinating scriptural promises given by the Savior in D&C: “7 Thus came the voice of the Lord unto me, saying: All who have died without a knowledge of this gospel, who would have received it if they had been permitted to tarry, shall be heirs of the celestial kingdom of God;
8 Also all that shall die henceforth without a knowledge of it, who would have received it with all their hearts, shall be heirs of that kingdom;
9 For I, the Lord, will judge all men according to their works, according to the desire of their hearts.”
It puts all the more requirement on those who have the fullness of the gospel to show in their deeds a full purpose of heart and integrity in their discipleship.
That Matt 7:21 has me cross referencing it to revelation 19:10
Not just because we have a testimony but we need to be converted - we have need to become like he is by doing what he did.
Nice to meet you Ella. You and your bros are awesome! Great discussion.

You are correct We never knew Him not what is being spoken about. He knows us well...
I will say the Book of Mormon uses "I never knew you". Not sure what the significance is but I think both phrases can be fully explored.
Yes, JST version makes better sense to me. The responsibility lies with us to seek light and Truth, and find HIM. Keep His word, and come to truly know him. Know His voice, His way of doing things…build Zion. Live higher laws.
Love your videos!
King James Version: parable about 10 Virgins Matt 25:12 But he answered and said, ‘Assuredly, I say to you, I do not know you.’
YOU ARE CORRECT! This well intentioned video missed the whole plot because they do not recognise Joseph Smith and HIS (God-not Joseph) word.
Fantastic episode! Super insightful!
Repentance is one way I have come to understand what it means to know Christ. Repentance is work! Keeping the commandments is work! Our choices define our works. Faith in your works in these things is not dead, but alive in Him.
More, please.
Great job!
Loved the discussion!
Thank you Andrea, thank you Dave!
Good job 'little sister'!
I think Andrea asked at one point “what does it mean to keep the commandments?” We don’t usually look at keep in military terms; it can then mean “to watch over and defend.” “Keep us from harm.”
wow. love this
Andrea is amazing, she even made Dave go “Wow!”
Thank you. ❤
I hope you are able to find more support and companionship. Do you mind me asking where you live?
“This kind of sacrificial compassion doesn’t come naturally to us. We have to rip our hearts wide open to receive it.” Yes! I felt that.
Always love learning from Andrea and Dave
I can't wait for the book to be released by Andrea. Please be sure to make it available for your followers in Australia 🇦🇺. I'm still waiting for the book from Jonah to be available here. I and several friends are constantly watching Amazon Australia for a version other than Kindle. Please help 🙏.
Pleased to meet Sister Paul! That was a clutch passage from Mormon, thanks for your insight!
That the rights of the priesthood are inseparably connected with the powers of heaven [which] cannot be controlled nor handled only upon the principles of righteousness."
We then learn in verse 37 that covering sins (not confessing or trying to acknowledge the need to repent; having a hard heart), indulging in pride, vain ambitions, exercising control, dominion, or compulsion in any degree of unrighteousness (even slightly) will grieve the Spirit and cause it to withdraw (selfish, unloving, egotistical, superiority-like behavior i believe is part of what causes Christ to say "you never knew me").
Repent!
Interesting, how is it “unbiblical”? @@AVoiceCryingInTheWildern-vt6ed
Every time I hear the phrase, "I never knew you," President Holland comes to my mind when he said, "You never knew me."
Both phrases disturb/haunt me.
It's the JST for the verse.
The idea of knowing Jesus and becoming like him when we show up at the gate or door reminds me of the famous sermon by Moroni's father, Mormon concerning faith, hope and charity (which should take our minds to a 3 part space, charity being the highest and most sacred space to aim for) in which, speaking of charity, said in Moroni 7:46-48
"46 Wherefore, my beloved brethren, if ye have not charity, ye are nothing, for charity never faileth. Wherefore, cleave unto charity, which is the greatest of all, for all things must fail-
47 But charity is the pure love of Christ, and it endureth forever; and whoso is found possessed of it at the last day, it shall be well with him.
Amen."
The main phrase to help with the connection is " that when he shall appear we shall be like him, for we shall see him as he is" Those filled with charity become like Jesus.
She’s better than her brothers, coming through with the clutch scripture at the end! Wow 👊
Something here made me understand something in my patriarcal blessing 😭 thank you!
One of my favorite videos so far
I’m reminded of Lectures on Faith as being an excellent source for coming to -know- God - Lectures on Faith; a vein of study I feel is important for me to put into practice to avoid hearing “I never knew you”
I also think there is a connection to the Order of Melchezidek covenants in the endowment - becoming One with the Savior, having complete fidelity in our devotion to Him
So good!
Mind blown once again. I can NEVER get enough! Will be listening to this over and over again 🙌🏼❤
The videos that go with Dave's book are just as good.
@ I know Dave is a genius!
I don’t know how some members use the corrupt translation, but the JST corrects that miss translation. Christ actually said,” ye never knew me” I see the dear sister eventually used the correct translation.
The Lord himself gives us the understanding of the parable of the ten virgins in a revelation given to the prophet Joseph, D&D 45:56-57, 63:53-54
“56 And at that day, when I shall come in my glory, shall the parable be fulfilled which I spake concerning the ten virgins.
57 For they that are wise and have received the truth, and have taken the Holy Spirit for their guide, and have not been deceived…”
“53 These things are the things that ye must look for; and, speaking after the manner of the Lord, they are now nigh at hand, and in a time to come, even in the day of the coming of the Son of Man.
54 And until that hour there will be foolish virgins among the wise; and at that hour cometh an entire separation of the righteous and the wicked;..”
The wise virgins are those “who have taken the Holy Ghost as their guide,” they are the righteous and the unwise virgins are the wicked, those who have not taken the Holy Ghost as their guide.
No guess work.🙏🏽
The Lord restored many plain and precious truths through the prophet Joseph Smith so the saints won’t be ignorant to the things of God.
And yes I mean that political too
Profound. Thanks!
Love your name, Zionmama!!
Thank you for President Oak’s definition.
If the unwise virgins did not know the bridegroom (Christ). Perhaps another symbolic interpretation the unwise virgins knew the bride (his church) and neglected their opportunity to get to know him.
I love the statement "he sees himself in us"
More of these!!!
We choose how much we are willing to sacrifice to obtain our relationship with Christ.
beautiful
Perhaps this is why our prophet has pleaded with us to "Hear Him" that is to "Know Him"
Your prophet, like your whole Godless fake religion is a fraud. Repent!
Wouldn't it be interesting to dive into Ether 12:6 and the importance of having faith to build a personal testimony and understand why we receive blessings and witness miracles? I love your videos...
Great to see you, Sister Paul! One of my favorite missionaries we served with. Great job! Grateful episode! Prayers for your brothers safety.
I have so far to go.
This has always been my interpretation. They weren’t able to come into the wedding feast.
"I THINK" = ex Cathedra 😮
Brian, you have a brain.😊
Small point of order, NT was Greek, Jesus spoke Aramaic and Hebrew was the synagogue language with the Aramaic being his daily go to.
5:1 And seeing the multitudes, he went up into a mountain: and when he was set, his disciples came unto him:
What is required to come up the mountain?
Another great scripture about knowing is in Mosiah 5
12 I say unto you, I would that ye should remember to retain the name written always in your hearts, that ye are not found on the left hand of God, but that ye hear and know the voice by which ye shall be called, and also, the name by which he shall call you.
Great job Ella! Another fantastic video from this channel and everyone involved!
You should take that up with God.
Sister Paul!!! We LOVE you! You are doing fantastic just like you did in Kirtland!❤. Lov this podcast and your brothers. Barb. H.
AHA. I recognize the spot you two are stationed. La Jolla, California, on the beach, right? Stay safe.😊❤
And welcome to the Paul sister.
I am very interested in Andrea's book. Well done, everyone.
He knows Dirk 😂❤, he's all, "yeah, Jesus knows Dirk."
Whenever I come to the section where Christ is turning water into wine at the wedding, and presenting it before the guests, I think of the groom setting the goblet of wine in front of his potential bride and waiting for her to drink
I wonder if there is a connection…
Do I look forward to it? Yes, been looking forward to it since I was a little kid, always had a feeling I would never grow old.
Now, am I prepared for it? I don't anyone will be. I've heard it will be similar to the events prior to when Christ came to the America's. Could be a interdimensional level i.e. the dropping of the veil
Prepared=means worthily participating in the saving ordinances of the temple and keeping the covenants
The JST says, “You never knew me”. That makes much more sense.
Blessings.
If you look at the JST of Matthew 7:23 it states something even scarier: "Ye never knew me".

Doesn't strait also mean "that which connects"... many after the marriage, the two rooms are made one room?
strait; signifying "directs" or the place (ie strait street) to go where one is directed. The place being undeviating, unalterable, as in a strait (straight) course
@@disciplesofjesuschrist2026 I'm thinking like the strait of Gibraltar, for example. It connects the Mediterranean with the Atlantic.
35:41 I think whether you can love thy brother is the clear delineated marker that indicates you got it right.
If you dont, you got the parable wrong.
Litmus test: Do you regularly hear, recognize, and respond to the voice of the Spirit? If not, seek out Christ **now**.

Let this suffice for now
I want to know how Andrea studies and what she studies
The Commandments:
1) Love thy lord your God.
2) Love thy neighbor as thyself.

But again this is a coronated initiate see 3 Nephi 8:1
The challenge is that one we as a people don’t follow the charge to avoid all loud laughter and the evil speaking of the Lords anointed so we unintentionally disqualify ourselves from having a healthy discussion about the depth of how to get to the place of the first five virgins.
But as sister Woodmancy stated just showing up in the pews once a week is insufficient
Such wonderful information presented by you both I pray as an audience we will take it seriously and with the reverence sufficient to be known and know the bridegroom
Yours in the Faith
Pres Nelson said in the last conf., that the way to prepare for Christ return is to attend the temple. The spiritual strength gained there will help us endure His glory.

Stick of Woodmansee!
Man that makes it visually understandable why we all need to be baptized. Its part of gaining His image, by doing what He did on earth
The reason Jesus didn't know the virgins and they didn't know Him is because they were not born again children of Christ by covenant. He didn't know they because they were not His covenant born again children. We MUST be born again.
That's really all there is to it, I agree. Born again. Covenantal love and bonds with God.
All therefore whatsoever they bid you observe, that observe and do; but do not ye after their works: for they say, and do not.”
It occurred to me that when the foolish virgins returned to knock they were not escorted or accompanied at the gate as the wise virgins were. Could that mean anything?
Indeed it does but not so as for lack of oil. Those who are presented at the veil are done so by escorts (servants) of the Lord
Those who are escorted from spirit to immortality, who are righteous, are accompanied by those from a realm of glory (wise virgins). Those who are not worthy are not presented at the veil and have no escorts...because they have no oil or tokens
