Be still, and know that I am God. That is the message the Temple represents to us if we are willing to listen with our hearts. Leave the world outside and let the Lord introduce you to something eternally better than what we have now. This talk goes a long way to helping us know how to do that.
Thanks for clarifying when this talk was really given! and we're so grateful that NOW the ordained priests CAN PERFORM these baptisms NOW. in the HOLY temples NOW in . 2024!!😆
I’ve visited Dacau prison camp back in 2011 & I can imagine the woman’s reaction to the LA Temple in contrast to her past harsh & difficult experiences as Richard Cowan, who is blind , wrote a book 📖 about the LA Temple called “ A Beacon on a Hill !” I loved serving as a veil worker ,for many years, in that temple!
Yes - please remember this talk should be from 2016 and things has changed in the temple since . From ChatGPT :) - Yes, the change was announced in October 2017 during a worldwide instruction from The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. From that time, young men holding the Aaronic Priesthood (specifically priests) were authorized to perform baptisms for the dead in temples. Before this change, it was typically members holding the Melchizedek Priesthood who performed baptismal ordinances in temples. This adjustment was made to involve young men more actively in temple service and to help them experience and understand the spiritual significance of priesthood authority.
There's a great book by an LDS author that shows that there is perfect harmony between the prophetic statements concerning the garden of Eden being in Missouri and the Old Testament account concerning the garden of Eden. It's called Canaan, Babylon, and Egypt A Comparative Theological Analysis on Creation sold by Eborn Books and Benchmark Books.
Likely he would be the first to admit that he's not a member of the First Presidency and Quorum of the Twelve, who have responsibility for changes in the temple. That priests have been delegated this opportunity through an official of the Melchizedek Priesthood is an opportunity for growth for those young men. (Some of whom -- as slightly older young adults -- are now sitting at the front desk scanning recommends. :-D ) I'm glad to see the opportunities expand for the young people of the Church.
@@davidhowell1976 I have had my 16 year old son baptize me in the temple a few times now, it's a neat experience, as well as seeing my 14 year old and 12 year old sons be witnesses.
There were several things that he said that were not correct! Most of them had to do with not quite understanding the orders of priesthood correctly. But it’s hard to blame these guys. We’re not really taught the orders of priesthood in the church.
Is not D&C13 under the hands of John fulfilled with the aaronic PhD? Oliver Cowdery in JSH1 records the same experience slightly different perspective.
Great talk! I had many insides I took from it. However, I disagree with a small detail. The speaker encoraged to not node in the temple. I agree that we need to strive to be attentive, but how do you do this whrn you are overwelned by the Spirit? Even temple workers node often during the endowment session.
Except 1 thing. You can be a lowly priest to baptize in the temple now. You have to have the higher priesthood to record it. But not to baptize. And I'm grateful for that

None of the reasons you list for people finding the temple jarring are reasons I've heard anyone give for finding the experience jarring. I have heard a number of reasons people found the experience disconcerting, uncomfortable, or even cultlike, but not one of them gave a reason you address. This is a common experience in the church. Speakers say, "I'm going to address your concerns," and then they list concerns no one is expressing and ignore concerns that are repeatedly expressed. Why is that?
The reference to only Endowed males only being able to perform baptism for the dead was formerly true, but is no longer true. That policy changed in the last few years.
It did not used to be this way, as the standard before 2017 was that any officiating an ordinance on behalf of the dead required 1) being ordained to a Melchizedek priesthood office and 2) being initiated into the 'Order of the Priesthood' or having received the temple endowment. This is of course still true for ordinances that require a Melchizedek priesthood holder, like proxy confirmations and ordinations- but I believe that the Lord impressed the brethren with the urgency to involve the Aaronic Priesthood more fully in temple work as a means of establishing a firm spiritual foundation. No previous generation of youth has seen anything like what this generation is facing. This was a great way to help the young men stand in holy places.
Heading to the Temple again next month after 40 years away. So happy!

I was thinking the same thing and as soon as he said that, I wondered when this was filmed.

I took several classes with Brother Baron when I went to BYU-Idaho. Sadly, I never took any religion classes from him.
Beautiful message and necessary for temple going + none-going people make time to be there to hear the voice of the LORD for their everyday life.

I wonder what Ross Baron's thoughts are on Priests being able to baptize in the temple now.
Probably that the restoration is ongoing, maybe?

There has been a change that allows younger males to perform baptisms

Priests under the Aaronic Priesthood can baptize in the Temple. That changed recently, FYI.

Endowed elder to do baptisms in the temple? Um, the youth, who are preists do baptisms in our temple. They aren't elders.

Correct! The priests in young men can now baptize. So greatful for continual revelation.
Ummm....priests can do baptisms for the dead. You do not need to be endowed to perform that ordinance. Only to record it
