This is such a helpful video. Most "beginner" yoga videos show asanas I can't even imagine doing at this stage. But this video is very beginner (and age) friendly.

Even with this basic beginner video, I ended up getting myself into a banana asana and boy I couldn't get out of it. The trick was to stop thinking about those "advanced" yoga videos!!!!

I'm not a beginner, but I've had some injuries/surgeries and am completely starting over with my body. I love Jen! She's gentle, yet gets you to where you're feeling a stretch (NOT a "burn"). It was interesting to see how out of whack my body was when I found one side of me was easier to work than the other. Jen's work-arounds (hand towels, pillows) made a huge difference for me -- without the implied "shame" of being in a class with a lot of buff fit people! I know, it's my own issue, but being able to work out my issues at home, safely, is a huge plus for me.

After my first time watching this video about stretches for beginners I found that my entire body including my lower back felt much looser and more relaxed. I couldn't believe it! I will definitely keep doing ALL of the stretches you talked about than graduate to the other poses in your videos. Thank you so much for posting this!❤️🙌🏾🙏🏾

Just getting back into the weight room and cardio after falling off the wagon for a year, but was never into flexibility. These stretches, tho! I need to start doing some stretching. I had sciatica (can you believe, I'm only 20, had it when I was 19) and after 3 months of the pain, I ended up finding out I had sciatica really badly, facing potential nerve damage, needing the surgery. I'm several months post surgery, but it's about time I get my butt in gear and start stretching, cause now I can really feel how tight my legs and lower back muscles are!! This is no joke people, do your stretches lol

Very helpful video. Not just for beginners! I have done yoga for 20-30 yrs and love it! but due to recent foot, ankle and knee injuries; plus lower back and neck surgeries, I have been in a great deal of pain and cramping. I have shied away from past yoga routines while healing from all these repeat traumas in past several years. But nowadays swimming, walking, physical therapy including myofascia release, TENS therapy, cold laser massage, do not relieve cramping for long. I really needed a daily routine of gentle and supported stretching taking me safely to the edge of my tight spots! This is tremendously appropriate and effective, so I plan to practice frequently. I can do this while traveling so I feel empowered instead of being tied to doctors, therapists and painkillers. Thank you very much, you are a wonderful teacher.

Jen, this is fantastic. I'm a healthy 40 yr old but so inflexible I can't even touch my knees. This and your other videos have helped me get develop a stretching routine I can actually stick to and enjoy. In just a week I've gained so much, mostly because I wasn't allowing my muscles to relax before. I had to flex other muscles so much in order to held any kind of stretch I ended up tighter than I started. You've helped me overcome that! Thank you SO MUCH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Just wonderful! I've cleared & activated 2 of my chakra's that have been blocked. Once i started up those energies it was kind of like putting in a full gym workout following 10 yrs lacking. Next day you're stiff & soar, right!! That's what it feels like reactivating these energies, it's tolerant UN-comfort, not exactly pain of a full gym workout of course but the hip stretches help me to ease that feeling particularly with my root chakra. Gonna do these everyday to help my body normalize the root energy now being used. THX JEN!

That was awesome. I first took Yoga when i found myself in Group Bereavement Therapy after I'd lost my Mom. My whole world crashed after that loss, i don't know where to begin, but after rahab and going through Grief Therapy it was suggested to me to try the yoga classes. I was the youngest one. After all that had finished and I no longer had alcohol to run to , I gained over 100lbs. I replaced one addiction for another. i had gastric bypass in August of 2015 and I kept coming back to how relaxed I felt after my yoga classes. So I am now 110lbs lighter now and i tried this video first...i'm ready for a nap now... Thank you for your help, my back has been in so much pain as I lost that weight so fast my walking style changed and my back was really hurting me. Thank you.

Jen Hilman, I've watched/done three of your yoga beginner workout videos so far and you are so kind, gentle, and patient, willing to teach beginners at a slow and comfortable pace. Thank you so much for your videos and hopefully I'll keep continuing doing yoga! :)

This helped so much with my legs and back. I'm young but I stand a lot and work 40+ hrs a week. Last night I experienced terrible pain in my left leg (mainly in the knee is where i had my ice pack). I tried to massage my hip and thighs. Finally I just put the ice on and took some ibuprofen. I love yoga but don't practice as much as I used to. I do have a dance back round and am used to pushing my body. I found that using props have made it easier on my body. Thank you so much!

I'm an amateur bodybuilder who has been stagnating in a lot of areas, and have noticed that I am less flexible than every person I meet. Today is the second day doing this routine. I plan on doing it twice a day and really pushing myself to become for flexible to prevent injury as well as to improve muscle contraction. I will update as I progress.

I just wanted to say thank you so much for this video. It's the perfect beginning to my journey of health and wellness through yoga. I am 26, and suffer from Fibromyalgia. Every time I try to start some sort of exercise, I am immediately thrown into a painful flare the next few days. I'm so glad I found this video and this channel to subscribe to. You are the best instructor I've encountered online thus far. I'm so excited to feel better! Namaste.

These yoga streches helped with tight/painful muscles after doing the first video of Jen Hilman's 5 week yoga weight loss series. I feel the difference after doing these stretches.

Just what I've been looking for. I have a back injury with chronic pain, and it's been so long since I've done any stretches. I like the adjustments you make with the pillows and towels, now I feel I can stretch and be effective. Thank you for sharing.

I wanted to thank you. I am 53 yr and have a type of job that is overnight for 10hrs every night. The work has me standing doing repetitive motion for all the hrs causing some areas of my body stiff and other parts holding tension. Muscle spasms were very common.I have tried yoga but was not able to do. your stretches has made me noticed my limited body motion and within a week motion has increased. Now just simply walking,my body carries itself different.Hope i can start 10 MIN YOGA FLOW soon

Per her suggestion to start stretching, I have discovered your wonderful beginner video and am starting out each morning with it. Thanks for offering it to those of us who are just beginning on our journey to a more limber body.

THANK YOU!!! I suffer from chronic pain. My flexibility and strength varies so much from day to day and even hour to hour. These are the perfect modifications for those debilitating days where I am stiff and in extra pain and need to be super gentle with my body. Love this idea for other yoga poses and/or a "pre" warm up video. :)

Just tried this for the first time. I'm young but have a lot of pain throughout my body which causes me to have trouble sleeping. These stretches felt amazing and were a lot less intimidating than some other beginners videos I've seen. The tips about the towels and pillows were great because I couldn't stretch very comfortably without them. Thank you, for once I feel like I'm not going to give up right away or cause myself more pain trying to feel better.
