Thank you for specifically saying "you can't go all the way to the ground as a beginner, that would be too much" that really helps us dummies figure this out! I thought I was doing it wrong because I couldn't go all the way to the ground
@zuffyg4772 Funny thing I am flexible enough to go all the way to the ground. Problem is my core isn't ready for it yet. Had to terminate my first set last night because my lower abdomen started to spasm. Shit hurt like hell too... 😕
Love how the cat stretched through the cat door along with your stretching. I just purchased my ab wheel (along with a jump rope) 2 days ago. Your video was the most helpful to me personally. Thank you.
Typical cat... "What's going on over there... oh a video? I'm going to be in this video.. but I'm not going to ACT like I'm in this video... I'm just going to waltz through here... oh.. and here's my butt... always be showing the butt"
I have been using the ab wheel for well over 40 years. I recently bought two ab wheels that look like dumb bells. I use them to work my chest. Instead of your arms going in front, I go to the sides like doing inverted flies. I have become strong enough to do them from my feet. The wheel is one of the best pieces of equipment you could have and something you can take with you wherever you go. Start very slow at first. The wheel can create debilitating soreness in the beginning. I'm 82 and use the wheel about every 5 days.
Thanks, I was feeling a bit discourage because I could not extend all the way, but I get it now, I'm a beginner! I did feel it even though I couldn't extend the distance, it's only day 1
Here’s the thing. ruclips.net/user/postUgkxS7ex6L4sMqpaTn4LnBPyBmRQsSingL8y These are not meant to be stretched to 12ft or 14ft or whatever else where you’re a 6ft person, stepping in the band and trying to do standing shoulder presses. If they tear, (assuming they’re not defective) then you’re trying to stretch them way too far. For a full body stretch, bands should be like three feet long, doubled over. Don’t buy the bad press. A fully extended reverse fly is avoid as far as you should stretch these. If it’s too easy, use more than one band at a time. Not rocket science.
I think you are the best out ther that Explains ab weel/roller the beat. You go from beginner level and work with that first then you go with more harder practice. I will definitely follow you and watch your videos for other practice train gym videos from You. Thank you a lot:)
Since watching your workout in this room, I've been wondering about who comes & goes thru that door slat. Mystery solved at 4:06: Hello Kitty ! Thanks, Ryan !
Can’t do the latch stretch as well. Try to touch my heal with my but, I can’t go down that far wondering if I have to keep doing it daily to see improvement or if I might have to try other exercises for better results
Is there a specific way to breath while using the roller because the minute i breath when my face is on the floor, on the way back its impossible to let the abs do the work, instead the back muscles kick in
Just listen to your body. View it like a practice instead of a pursuit. As you improve with the ab roller you’ll start tracking your reps closely and having targets, but in the beginning it’s good to just practice it and focus on form.
Hi! Nice video as usual, you have shown some extra exercises / stretches and of course the Ab rollout exercise as in how a single rep should look like. But one thing you haven't touched upon is the intensity / workout plan for it. What is the rep range for it? Can I do it everyday or should I let the muscles rest for longer?
Haren94 Thanks! I recommend you work on it every other day at the most. 3 times per week is the schedule I followed. Like Monday, Wednesday, Friday, for example. And as for reps, if you find yourself doing more than 8 reps per set, make it harder by increasing the range of motion.
Side planks compliment it nicely. They will work your obliques, and combined with the ab roller, you’ll have the whole core being worked with just those two exercises.
God why is my lower abdominal so painful I can't even do 1 roller and today was my 5th day the pain is to sharp and painful 💔 😢 did I do the roller wrongly gosh 💔 😢
I just watched 5 other videos about proper techniques in using the Ab Roller. This video provides the best visual demonstration and best explanations. Thank you.
@@MinusTheGym and its not 25min, also the fact you gave a realistic timeframe is very nice, those videos that prommise a 8pack in 2 weeks are just stupid

Holy shit the first ten seconds of seeing you do this showed me how wrong I was doing it. Relying too much on my knees and back and it hurt like a mfer. Every video shows how to do it, but they all use the same pose: the one that nearly broke my back, because they're JACKED. Thank you so so much. Earned a sub
Hi Ryan, love that you featured the underrated ab wheeler. I think it fits perfectly with your philosophy of frugal, no gimmicks, genuine strength building. I really enjoy your channel. Keep up the great work.
I just received my ab wheel. I last used one in early 1970ties. Watched your video to make sure I am using it properly. I am 80 now and want my abs back. Looking forward to seeing them again.
Abs will mostly be determined by body fat percentage. You can do all the ab exercises in the world and you still might never see your abs if you have a small layer of fat covering your stomach. Diet will have a bigger impact.
I looked at my ah roller today that I have been too intimidated to use, and got onto RUclips to find progression videos and up pops Ryan 😃. Thanks for these tips, your channel really has been so helpful to me. I’m working on my frog stand because of you too. Then headstand, then handstand 🙏☺️
Ab rollers are so underrated. And that’s awesome you’ve started your handstand journey. Training it can be frustrating at times, but it’s a lot of fun if you go with the flow and very satisfying once you get it. Glad to hear my videos are helping you out 😊
My husband just bought me one of these and I had to Google how to use it. You make it look incredibly easy but I can tell it takes a lot of power ( that I don’t have ) to do the full roll out like you do. P.S. your cat and his or her very nice cat door tried to steal the show from you 😅
Great video Thank you for making it,I've just bought a ab wheel. I thought I'd be at least okish with it seeing as I can do 60 sit ups in one set but the first time I used my ab wheel I was shocked just how difficult it is! I tried to go all the way out like you and just couldn't pull myself back, nearly ended up going face first into the floor! My lats are my weakest musucle in my body along with my lower back, and I've struggled to strengthen them, one of my fitness goals is to be able to do pull ups, I'm female and I find them really hard. Can I ask how long did you train before you could go all the way to the floor as you did in the video? Thanks and please keep making your awesome vids!
Oscar Ho I personally did about 4 or 5 sets per session and about 3 sessions per week. My entire abdominal wall got sore for a day after using the ab wheel, so I needed at least 1 day off between sessions. As for reps... just as many as you can. It's more about working within your current range of motion (i.e. how close you can get to the ground with your rollout). But as a general rule of thumb, I find that if I'm doing more than 8 reps in a set, I'm ready to make the exercise harder.
Beware of the ab wheel, without being aware of the dangers, I managed to give myself diastasis-recti, where the middle of the six pack stretches and separates. It's a very difficult condition to repair, especially if you're no longer a spring chicken, so do be careful.
