There have maybe been some technically better Actors, But none have come even close to John Wayne for Charisma and sheer on screen presence. My very favourite Actor. True Grit, The Shootist and The Searchers are my favourite films.
John Wayne predicts paid television at 6:26 Cable, and now streaming services like Netflix. John Wayne was such an American institution, no one in Hollywood other than Clint Eastwood can claim that mantle now, and there is no contemporary star that could carry on the torch, sadly.
I think it was disingenuous for Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer to have John Wayne, who was 6' 4" and weighed 212 lbs., play the part of General Ulysses S. Grant who was 5' 8" and weighed only 135 lbs. in the 1962 epic movie "How the West Was Won." 🧐
He was and will always be the greatest star of them all. Thanks be to God we had John Wayne in our lifetime

That was amazing. I was born in 1970 and I didn’t know anyone was talking about Pay TV that far back! He predicted that it would be HUGE!
