If I hadn't seen it with my own eye's; I would NOT believe it. As always you are one of the greatest genius's on RUclips. I love everything you've made. And your not talking,;but just doing it; is the BEST way to teach. WOW. Thank you kind Sir.
Excellent! What I like about this guys work is it recognizes it is made of wood, and as such, he always makes with strongest full pieces rather than the many small pieces other do. His work is ingenious yet uncomplicated...not to mention clean and articulate. This is one of his better ones in my book for what it can do and the practicality. Everyone else is making add hock equipment with no real strength to it. Kudos Bro! Keep up the good work!
You always amaze with your deliberate and precise skill, making it look so easy, but I know a lot of thought and time goes into the things you create. After more than fifty-five years of working with wood and machinists skill I thought I was a master at what I do. But I am humbled by your skillset. I learn much watching you at work. You are indeed a master at your trade. Thank you for showing and teaching me(us) your craft.
Cordialement.
What is this creativity, man? All I can say about all your work and you will find the same comment in all your videos that you are a man from another planet
A really well made product that works efficiently and produces an excellent final result. The video shows clearly all the steps taken to build this lathe. Thank you.
Wonderful videos!!! For a new woodworker, it would be nice to have a video list of what to build first, as well as a list of tools you'd recommend. You're an inspiration of simplicity and efficiency! Thank you for taking the time to do these videos.
What puzzles me is that in all such videos everything seems to work so well the first time around! All the markings are perfectly accurate, nothing goes wrong and there is always a perfect result!
They are videos. You can edit videos. We don't need to see all the - oh, now I am going to blow my nose. - parts of the 10 hours video that then it will be.
Neat idea, simple but effective, though as you have spinning machinery attached, that you reinforce those glued joints with screws to prevent glue separation from prolonged vibration!
I think a round pin on the bottom of the template arm, instead of the flat metal, would be better. You'd get a tighter tangent contact for concave portions.
Fine and well done craftsmanship It would be nice to somehow use the first sample as a template to craft 3 more alike for making small plant tables or stools..
Amazing use of glue, epoxy, and double-sided tape. I would typically only use glue with holding nails and glue reinforced screws. Apparently very different philosophies, and confidence in fastening.
Awesome!!! I would try to add a mechanism so you can cut in multiple passed. so that you can take shallow passes. less strain on the wood and on the router bit.
Just spent the last week making something very similar to this design, for my own lathe. A big fail actually. I built it very carefully and made a nice stiff structure, but the router cutting head ended up bouncing around quite a bit, ruining the overall profile (I was trying to create a nice smooth tapered leg). All I can say if that if you attempt to build, think about every single joint and component, and make it as laterally stiff as possible.
