So glad you did this, believe it or not I talk to Gil Moore the drummer once in a while when I see him at the complex where he owns the studio and school Metal works on Mavis Road. We live close to one another in the Mississauga Ontario area just west of Toronto. They really are just down to earth great guys and you would never know they were incredible rock stars by their demeaner
Thanks so much for playing this. Triumph is so damn good. Was fortunate enough to see them 4 times in their prime. Also so their lead singer Rik Emmett once solo in San Antonio back in the late 90's. Their song Magic Power would surely be another you want to play. Their live version at the US Festival is fantastic. Its the same concert where you reviewed Fight The Good Fight. I believe Magic Power was their biggest US hit. Its fantastic. Thanks so much for this.
Grew up with Triumph. Drummer Gil Moore is also a great singer. Rik a killer voice and most of the hits but the catalog is about 50/50 between Rik and Gil. Check out Gil on When the lights go down, Fool for your Love and a great ballad called Just One Night.
Magic Power was one of my first favourites when I was entering high school and just starting to develop my taste in music, and it's still one of my favourites today.
There are many great Triumph songs: Hold On, Magic Power, A World of Fantasy, Lay it on the Line, All the Way, Never Surrender, Ordinary Man, Writing on the Wall.
What about Somebody's Out There? Did you just forget it, or do you not consider it to be one of the great Triumph songs? My only disappointment with Triumph is that their discography is far too small. If only they had managed to stay together longer and more consistently like Rush. At least with Rush there are about 190 songs spanning 19 albums and a cover album. Triumph has slightly less than half the discography of Rush (I'm not counting live and compilation albums). I am grateful for what Triumph released, though, still more albums than some of my other favorite bands.
There are a lot of older tunes than that that are great... Bringing it on home , be my lover, working for the weekend ect, plus rik does tons of guitar instrumentals throughout all their albums
Good to see you getting back to Rik and the boys again so soon... Rik has still played the occasional solo show over the years that are a mix of his later solo material and Triumph, he still sounds amazing... some really good acoustic stuff on his website.
Another great Triumph song reaction! This song sounds so killer live. Triumph was a great live band back in the day. There are so many good songs from Triumph. Please react to Magic Power next from Triumph!
Rik Emmett's singing it's insane, I love it, and him playing that guitar too. All 3 of them are really great musicians, I still love listening to them. The album (Just A Game - 1979) version is also great, crisp and clean and worth checking out as well. Great reaction
Triumph always makes me think of record stores. After hearing one of their songs (Headed for Nowhere - great faster song and great guitarwork on it, I think you'd like it. I think there's only a static album view version on you tube though, no video or live version but it's a great song I think. It had me hooked on them from a first listen) I then discovered two of their albums in this great second hand record store back in the eighties that is sadly no more. I remember how excited I was to get them home and play them! Such great times 🤩
Hi Red! Great reaction. Fun trio. Limited song list but they are fun. When you get to 2112 remember that Neil wrote the lyrics. Very deep and interesting. Thanks for reacting to Triumph.
Gotta love the 70's and 80's stadium rock it is so awesome 💯💯💯#triumph #reaction #firstreaction #candadianband #canadarocks #rikemmett #gilmoore #mikelevine #philx #stevemorse #anelmcknight #scotthumphrey #michaelboddicker #joelfeeney #garymccracken #redheadedneighbor #bestreactor #redsarmy #beautifulduncountrygirl #heartofgoldwithmetalinhersoul #28K #bestbadjokes
Loved these guys , "back in the day"! It gets forgotten what a Huge Touring act Triumph were in the 80's with plenty of good songs & albums to boot 🙂 I love Rush too & since these guys are also a Canadian 3 Piece I consider them to be the more guitar driven Hard Rocking type of band than their more experimental Canadian brothers .
Nice reaction... Triumph were awesome ! Thinking you'll probably like their song "The Blinding Light Show/Moonchild" Glad that you like them, Cheers from Western Canada
I have definitely seen better live versions of it on RUclips. I prefer to do studio versions on first listening to new artist's songs and then live though, even if they are fantastic live like Triumph and Rush.
@@trevalarose8155 I know. I'm an old triumph head. I got the VHS of the US festival when it first came out, then the DVD/CD. Saw them 3 times too. I just love that new people are discovering them and more specifically, this show.
Love triumph and your beautiful smile! Listen to magic power next and when your ready find the live version of rock and roll machine from this same concert. I was there and it’s simply mind blowing! You will love it
Triumph was a big part of my younger days. Had all the albums. Saw them in Buffalo on the Allied Forces tour. The Live in Halifax '87 video has the best sounding live performances. Here is their official playlist. ruclips.net/video/bWxxgacXvaA/видео.html
Sung by and written by Rik Emmett. Classic 🙌 Triumph song. If you saw 👀 the Metallica documentary, you might have seen the Triumph shirt 👕 which Janes Hetfield wore. Bob Rock, the producer for many Metallica albums, met Triumph several times before meetibg Metallica. Suggested videos 📹: 1 Triumph perflrms Magic Power 🔋 live at the US festival. 2 Metallica performs The Unforgiven
Triumph broke up in the late 80s, when Rik Emmett, the primary lead singer and guitarist left the band. They did try to replace him and put out one more album. Rik has had a successful solo career in a variety of musical genres. A lot of jazz and classical guitar. Also a project called Airtime recently. He also has published poetry. He is currently battling cancer. They only reformed a few times since the 80s, including a festival in Oklahoma and Sweden, but not many. Keep exploring Triumph.
It was a more playful version. Felt like since they are always compared to RUSH being a 3 piece and from Canada that they went showboat ish on this one. Studio versions are always their artistic concept versions. Great Reaction Red!! Peace 🕊️☮️♾️😎
Hmm...my two favorite bands of all time. They where my two favorites before I knew they were both from Canada. I appreciate both based on the incredible talent and music that came together to form bands and with only 3 people. But I don't compare Rush and Triumph, I won't say apples and oranges, but definitely apples and pears. And there is no comparison to Rush, IMHO, Triumph is a distant second to Rush for me, but both are miles ahead of everyone else, IMHO.
Triumph + Rik Emmett’s solo career is a pretty deep Rabbit hole. The Drummer, Gil Moore also sings lead on many songs. I suggest you listen to a song called Ordinary Man. To my knowledge, there is no live recording of it, so you’ll have to listen to the Album version. I really think you’ll love it. For a song sung by Gil, try When The Lights Go Down, Follow Your Heart, or American Girls.
Check out "Magic Power" video from the Live in Halifax concert. There is a documentary called "Rock 'N Roll Machine" on some streaming platforms you might enjoy. Thanks for featuring my favorite band of all time.
I think this is my fav Triumph song. Once you've heard it you always remember it, at least it was for me. This definitely not the best version of this song but it always sounds awesome to me no matter what version!
One thing I think a lot of the younger reactors forget when reacting to these videos from - yes - 40+ years ago now - is that the audio and video quality often is not very good. But for certain shows - specifically Triumph - the big festivals like US 83 was where you'll find the best available video and audio. This one wasn't too bad; their show in Halifax was better A/V than this, but US 83 is probably the best live A/V for them. Rik Emmett left Triumph in '88. They did a brief reunion show 2008, but this band was at its best in the 80's.
Hey beautiful, Triumph and Rush are the best. If you like Triumph you may want to check out Rick Emmitt's CD Absolutely, which is also amazing. Keep digging into Triumph!
Hello RHN, You should really, really try out the song Blinding light show. I know you would love it. Its got alot going on in it. Either way, have a damn good day/week. Cheers from the great white north 🇨🇦
You should check out the Triumph performance at the US Festival back in 1983 Fontana, CA
Been a part of my life since like 1984. So good. But so underrated.
So glad you did this, believe it or not I talk to Gil Moore the drummer once in a while when I see him at the complex where he owns the studio and school Metal works on Mavis Road. We live close to one another in the Mississauga Ontario area just west of Toronto. The other great trio from north of the border. Rick Emmett is a very underrated guitarist!
Another great band from canada
Love this band!
Great albums
Brilliant musicians!
Magic Power is one of the best songs ever made and Rik Emmett is an amazing singer and guitar player
Yes, Magic Power
Magic Power was one of my first favourites when I was entering high school and just starting to develop my taste in music, and it's still one of my favourites today.

The best Canadian trio. Triumph 🤘 👍

Thank you for playing one of my favorite Triumph songs
Loved it
My wife went to school with the lead singer
Saw him play a few years ago he still has it

This song was SOOOOO popular in the 80s omg played at every party😂❤🇨🇦
Magic power at the 83 music fest. Incredible vocals.
I've been listening to Triumph over the last 40 years. Welcome to the club!🤘😎🤘
I saw them about 2 years before they broke up.IMO,the greatest tour band ever. ❤

Gil Moore, the drummer sings lead vocals on some songs, "Rock n Roll Machine" and "Follow your Heart" are a couple that I can think of at the moment.
Love watching you react to this great song !!

@@mattbaker5757 I agree. I've usually seen the bands live if I watch a reaction video so I already have a good memory embedded in my head.
US Festival! The definitive performance
@@MrAitraining you can watch the entire concert on here. AXS TV also ran Triumph's show. I saw them twice with Yngwie & once with Loudness.

They've been around a while. I have 17 of their CDs. Check outthe song Magic Power. Great reaction!!! 🤟👏🍻

Outside the us nobody knows this band, they think it's the motorcycle triumph.
Great song, and I love them live, but I have to say I like the studio version of this song better.
I know lots of others will disagree.
There are better live versions of this song on RUclips.
You are a real beauty 😍
Thank you
This deserves a relisten with a better version/audio the studio version is much better. Just in case you like em and want to check it out for yourself
Agreed, there's definitly a better version on YT.
US festival!
Rik is still great. He can’t hit the really high notes anymore, but he sounds great regardless and is an outstanding guitar player.
Did you play Fight the good Fight by Triumph
She did, a couple days ago.
@@Ilikeryche yes I remembered that she played a few days ago I just plain forgot
Never Surrender
Another reason why Canda bans are best ever
Let’s go Blues ,
Think you should do the song just one night to hear the drummer sing a tune
Second best Canadian trio.
I see you already played Fight the good Fight
Now play Magic Power
This is also a great song, And Allied Forces is to.
Triumph rocks, R.H.N.! Please check out the song Magic Power. Keep up the great work! ❤

Oh, the "Metallica" chord is in Call Of Ktulu, I think it's Am(add9) It's a 2-finger open
The solo had parts of several songs the first was a rush tune next was zeppelin.
Magic Power next!
Rush had a problem with sounding like "Yes," Triumph sounds like pop "Rush."
I Live For The Weekend is a SLAMMIN Rock song! It’s Fast, Hard and STRONG!! Please Check it Out! 😁👍
It’s a barn burner!
You must play some Loverboy songs like
Lady of the 80' s and Get Lucky

Red Clay Strays just dropped a new album try disaster , wasting time , moments, or just try all of them lol the best album in probably a decade

I like this version...but still prefer the 'US' Festival version.
How was Texas
I did....and the answer still hurts........
Yup, notha great tune.
Cheerz!!!

The audio on this doesn't do them justice.
Great song! Actually the US Festival version is even better! Better than Rush!
