This is a classic! Pay no attention to the haters! Miserable people just want to make everyone around them miserable as well, and those people definitely need to take a step back and re-evaluate their lives! They're definitely not worth ur time! Keep on keepin' on! 🤘
I've been screaming Triumph into the comments void for like 6 months. So, so glad we're here now.. Seriously hope you check out more. "Fight the good fight", and especially "Magic Power" (of the music)
You definitely have to check out “Fight the Good Fight”, “Magic Power”, “Say Goodbye “, “I Can Survive” and, when the record company said they couldn’t write hit songs anymore they did “Somebody’s Out There”. So glad to see you reacting to Triumph, so many great songs.
@@richardcranium5048 yeah, there are so many…I actually only knew a few of the hits growing up and only recently did a deep dive through their whole catalog due to doing an “album ranking” exercise with friends, and found so many great songs that I now love.
This is “the other” Canadian power trio. I grew up in Western NY, so we got a lot of Canadian content. These guys and Rush were always knob twisters to crank up. I got to see Rik do a jazz gig about twenty years after Triumph. Him and a side man doing electric and acoustic guitar. He was humble enough to let the side man take all the hot licks because he knows who he’s Rik Emmitt. He did a three song set of Triumph songs in an acoustic and destroyed it. Absolutely amazing show and performer.
Thank you so much for checking up Triumph. I'm Canadian and these guys were along with Rush and Saga the music of my teenage years. The singer is Rik Emmett. But wait, the drummer, Gil Moore also sings and has a fantastic voice as well. Mike Levine, bass, is highly regarded as one hell of a player. All in all it's a fantastic band that should've been a lot more popular.
Im Canadian and so are they,my ex is good friends with the lead singer, seen them live 6-7 time n met them all love them, and Rik been married to the same woman for almost 50 yrs 😍love your Channel 😘🥰
Do they have others? Absolutely! Hold On. Magic Power. Fight the Good Fight. Never Surrender. Say Goodbye. World of Fantasy. Rock Out Roll on. Time Goes By. Somebody' Out There. And many more.
We had so many great artists that we just weren't amazed by their vocal prowess. We kind of expected it. Watching reaction channels and how young people react to our music kind of gives me a new appreciation for what we had.
Great reaction, loved Triumph for decades. One of the best lines in this song, 'I don't ask for much, the truth will do just fine'. Have to check out some of their live performances at the 1983 US Festival. Crazy good.
Great Canadian trio...check out thier live US festival 1983...lay it on the line....fight the good fight....magic power....Rik Emmit is one underrated guitarist who effortlessly hits those high notes.
Saw them in concert in Little Rock Arkansas in 1983. Killer show. Rio Emmit is a killer guitarist for rock and classical music and man can he sing. Foghat opened.
This reminds me ofJIMMY PAGE STAIR WAY TO HEAVEN LIVE 1973 MADISON SQUAR GARDEN This is why the 1970s where FANTASTIC, Lay it on the line, was recorded and released in 1979
Rik Emmett is still out there performing and is a super nice guy. He did go solo after Triumph and put out over 10 albums. My favorite singer and guitarist all wrapped up in one guy. Although he is best known as a rock guitarist, his playing style incorporates rock, blues, jazz, classical, bluegrass, and flamenco techniques.
Triumph used to play my highschool dances and when this song and several of their other hits they were still doing our local schools in Toronto along with Rush. We were the last school Rush did before the next night they had three nights of sold out Maple Leaf Gardens. What a time to grow up.
There's a live version from the US concert that is one of the best I've ever seen. Rick Emmet's voice ironically is similar to Geddy Lee from Rush, who are another killer Trio from Toronto CA.
You two are so fun to listen to, your conversations are so entertaining. Thank you for making me feel joy and laughter in these times when it's a pretty dark world we're in at the moment. So thank you for doing this, it's really appreciated. 🙏☮️
Triumph was one of the bands on the bill for the first ever concert I went to as a Freshman in High School in the early’80s. I instantly became a fan. You should check out their live version of, “Fight the Good Fight” at the US Festival in 1983. They really put on a great performance.
One of the greatest voices and a world class guitarist. Drummer sings many of their songs too. Keep going, you wont be dissapointed. Fight The Good Fight, live in Halifax is unbelievable.
First time I saw them they were just starting out. One room schoolhouse just north of Toronto. Whole town was there for a communal Thanksgiving dinner. After dinner Triumph set up and blew the roof off. This was back in the 70s.
6:15 The reason why Rik's voice styling may seem familiar to you is because his upper vocal range is very similar to Steve Perry of Journey (see Infinity, Capture, Evolution albums). Triumph and Journey were hitting the arenas about the same time inthe late 70's and early 80's.
I'm so happy you did Triumph!!!! Can not go wrong with any of their songs. I just wish I was old enough to go to their concerts when they were around. I was a very young teenager in the early 80's. Damn I missed it!!!!
"Lay it on the line" and "Hold on" became huge radio hits from the 3rd Triumph album 'Just a game' in 1979... and it became their first gold album (half million copies sold) in the US in 1979... Triumph was already huge in their native Canada. Formed in Canada in the mid-70's, Triumph was a rock trio that sounded very similar to their Canadian counterparts Rush, but had more of an arena rock sound (Rush was more progressive rock) ... Triumph was: Rik Emmett (vocals & guitar), Gil Moore (vocals & drums) and Mike Levine (bass & keyboards) ... Both Emmett and Moore sang lead and like Geddy Lee of Rush, Levine played both bass and keyboards in Triumph. Their first self-titled album 'Triumph' was released in 1976 but was not a hit... 2nd album 'Rock & roll machine' in 1977 became a hit in Canada. 3rd album 'Just a game' was a hit and a gold album in the US in 1979 ... but the 4th album 'Progressions of power' in 1980 was a disappointment. Triumph had their biggest-selling (5th) record in 1981 - 'Allied Forces'... a platinum hit (1 million copies) in the US w/ the hits: 'Fight the good fight'... 'Magic power'... 6th album 'Never surrender' in 1983 sold gold in the US w/ the singles - 'All the way'... 'A world of fantasy'. 7th album 'Thunder Seven' was another gold selling success in the US in 1984 w/ the single 'Follow your heart'... For whatever reason, Triumph went for a more commercial 8th album in 1986 - 'The sport of kings' ... and had a commercial top 40 single "Somebody's out there"... but album sales were lower. Working on 9th album 'Surveillance' in 1987, creative tensions between Rik Emmett and the others led to the guitarist leaving Triumph for a solo career in 1988 after the album failed commercially. Gil Moore and Mike Levine hired Phil X (guitar) w/ Moore doing all the vocals for their 10th and final album 'Edge of excess' in 1992. It failed commercially and Triumph broke up... Years later, guitarist Phil X joined Bon Jovi in 2013 after original guitarist Richie Sambora quit the band. The original Triumph (Emmett/ Moore/ Levine) reunited to play their final shows together in 2008... the same year Triumph was inducted into the Canadian Hall of Fame. In 2021, Triumph released a documentary movie on their career - "Triumph: Rock and roll machine"... They have declined to perform together again (Only partially for the movie)
Black Pegasus, try their song Magic Power. You will likely connect with it since you often say that you are empowered by music. They have many good songs besides Magic Power. They are a positive band and their lyrics show their intent to be a positive force. Hold On Somebody's Out There Fight the Good Fight Never Surrender

Triumph are Canadian 🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦 and this is one of my favourite songs by them. Rik Emmett has an amazing voice and he is also a classicly trained guitarist. Check out the US Festival, Triumph blew them all away! Canada rocks!
All of the songs from Triumph's set at the 1983 US Festival are available on youtube and are fantastic. This one, Magic Power, Fight The Good Fight, Rock and Roll Machine.
Triumph is one of my favorite bands! They are amazing in concert! Maybe the loudest concert I've ever been to. Dive into their hits! Just amazing talent!
Triumph is just as good in concert as they are on the album. I had the opportunity to see them several times in concert and they never disappointed. 👍 Excellent choice.
Yay. Some classic Canadian power rock from 1979. Now try to watch Magic Power, Fight the good Fight and Hold On.

Another great 3 piece band out of Canada . All 3 are masters of their instruments and can sing ! Rush comes to mind !
"Fight the Good Fight" written by Triumph vocalizt/guitarist, Rik Emmett for his aunt who was battling cancer is a phenomenal song.
Triumph are so UNDERRATED!

@@richardcranium5048 Love Suitcase Blues; a much underrated song
Just watch the 1983 US concert footage. Awesome live

Underrated by who?
Many Many great songs from Triumph.. All father's NEED to hear "Magic Power"
The soundtrack of the 80's. I miss those days of great music, long hair, no cell phones, no internet and family.
