Great video of Krabi. I've been there twice and Phuket twice, and honestly Krabi is seriously much better than Phuket (I hate Patong Beach and some of the beaches are quite polluted plus the place is overcrowded and polluted plus too many scammers). Krabi has a lot to offer, with the 4 Islands Tour as you mentioned (Poda, Chicken, Tup and Phra Nang) and the sunset at Phra Nang Beach is spectacular, Hong Islands (Lao Lading Island, Pak Bia Island, Hong Island and its lagoon) plus the amazing West Railey Beach...and you can go on the boat to Tonsai Beach which takes a few minutes and is more quieter. Phi Phi Island Tour from Krabi is slightly quicker than from Phuket as well and the tour included everything you mentioned (although Maya Bay is closed at the moment) plus Bamboo Island. The other advantage with Krabi is that its on the mainland so you can do the Hot Springs, Emerald Pool and Tiger Cave Temple as one tour. You can also do the James Bond Island Tour from Krabi as well although I think this tour is a bit closer from Phuket than Krabi but I think with this tour from Krabi does include this big temple and a waterfall (both on mainland) which I don't think it is included from Phuket. I would stay in Ao Nang rather than in Krabi Town since a lot of tours go from Ao Nang Pier plus I think Ao Nang Beach is quite nice and has a lovely sunset too. I find the local people in Ao Nang more friendlier too and the prices for hotels are more reasonable. So yep you have my vote for Krabi. Phuket is great for nightlife and shopping (definitely not my thing)
@@SelfieTravellers No problems. Just like to give my own experiences and help travellers who would wish to visit in the near future. You did a great summary on this 😊
Good tips we went 2 year ago and he gives the best advice krabi is still unspoiled but vast tourism is making it a undesired place unless something's done so my advice get there when you can I'm going this year and doing it all again with my family.
I want to see most of these beaches. How far apart are they from each other? Will I be ok I choose to stay in the same hotel in Krabi and see most of these beaches without having to travel to far?
Our advise is to stay in Ao Nang as it's closer to all the beaches and is also the starting point for most island island trips. Railay is only a 15 minutes long tail boat ride from Ao Nang. Have a nice trip!
This is a good question... The 4 island tour is more laidback, but Maya Bay, eventhough crowded is a beautiful place. I would suggest finding a tour with many stops, so you get the most of that one day. There are plenty of agencies there, so you'll have many options.
Hello! I guess you'll just have to trust the goodness in people...or just ask someone on the beach to look after them. We were two and sometimes we both went in the water and nothing happened, so there is hope...
@@SelfieTravellers Thank you, also did you book your trip online or in person in Thailand. I'm contemplating on booking the trip when I get there for a couple day trip for maybe 2 days after I arrive so I can haggle the price. What do you think?
@@Thelilantjr Don't book online as the tours are usually overpriced! There are plenty of tour agencies in Ao Nang and Krabi Town, so ask a few and pick the best offer. You should go book the tour in the evening, as the vendors are more likely to give you a good discount, maybe even the evening before the trip. Always bargain as the price can always drop a little bit. Don't forget to ask if the National Park tax (400 baht/person) is included in the tour cost. If you enjoyed the trip and want to book another, go to the same agent, they will recognize you and give you the best offer from the start!
I want to visit phi phi island, hong island and also go to the blue lagoon.. Where is the best place i can book a hotel/resort/room that will give me a good distance to go to those place? I mean i dont wanna book a resort.hotel that so far away from those place and take too much time for travelling. Thanks
Is this during the month of July? Everything is green and beautiful with clear blue water. I've never been to Thailand, I planned to go during November and December, hopefully things will still be as colorful and beautiful as this time.
No, this was at the end of April. You planned it well, as in November and December is full season. It will be a little more crowded, but there will be no risk of rain. Enjoy! And let us know how it was!
Thanks a lot! Glad we could help! If you want more help you can check out a "4 days in Krabi" itinerary here: selfietravellers.com/trip/day-1-in-krabi/ Have fuuun!
Is there a way to make a day trip from Krabi to phi phi without doing a boat tour? I’ll be studying abroad in Thailand and will be going to Krabi and want to make a day trip to the phi phi islands, but won’t get out of class early enough to do a boat tour.
We only took a longtail boat from Ao Nang to Railay which costs 200 Baht/person/2 ways (5.5 Euro/6 USD). The rest of the trips were tours by locals agencies and we have most of the prices in the video.
Thanks! Yes, it's rainy season, it would be better to visit Krabi during the dry season. On the bright side, it will be less crowded and it usually rains in the afternoon and no more than an hour or two. We were in July in Langkawi, a little to the south, and the mornings were perfect for tours and visiting and it rained a bit in the evening.
Selfie Travellers thank you for the quick reply. Because here in U.K. the kids are on summer holidays from school that’s why was planing to visit in August. Maybe 1 hour rain is not too bad
Hey there! It depends on what you go for. If you're into nightlife, go to Phuket, to specific Patong. If you want a more laidback vacation, Krabi is the place to go.
Hi! There are no requirements to renting a motorbike and it will cost between 1000-1500 baht (30-40€/35-45$)/week. The thing is that the most beautiful things to do and see are on islands so I don't know about the utility of renting one. Check out these 4 days in Krabi: selfietravellers.com/trip/day-1-in-krabi/
What a joke. I can't believe how Maya Bay has been destroyed. I was there 25 years ago, there was 3 long tail boats with maybe 25 people all up. It was paradise then, now its lost forever. So has Phi Phi been destroyed, 25 years ago it was bamboo huts on the beach.
You are so right. I went there 5 years ago on my 3rd visit to Thailand but we were there around 7.30am and no one around which was great. By the time it got to 9.30am, flocks of boats started to come and that was the time to exit out of there. I went on Phi Phi tour as well early this year which was my 4th visit to Thailand and Maya Bay is now closed sadly - mass tourism destroyed this beautiful island. My first visit to Thailand and to Phi Phi/Maya Bay was 20 years ago and it wasn't that busy at all. So yes I agree, this paradise island is lost forever sadly
Lovely video .. :) We are planning to go to Bangkok , Phuket , Krabi in Mid May. how will be the weather during mid may? will it be raining? Should we go ahead and plan or reserve it for Nov to march peak season. Please suggest
Hey there! Last year we were in Thailand in April and had no problem with the weather. In May there's some risk of rain, but it usually rains in the evening or late afternoon and no more than an hour. The good thing about going in May is that is less crowded and the prices are down. We want to hop around the islands but we want to make a base.Which place would be the best to "live" for a month or 2 while we go all around south Thailand. We're thinking Krabi
Wow, that's a difficult question... :)) I would say Krabi would be a good decision, as it's less expensive than Phuket and has better access to the islands in the Gulf of Thailand (Koh Samui, first of all) and those in the Andaman Sea. Have fun!!!!
I stayed at the Arawan Krabi Beach resort which was only 20 dollars a night and they provided top notch service. Plus free shuttle into the town every day.
I think it's a PR thing, Thailand does a better job at promoting itself. And also the tourism infrastructure is better in Thailand than in the Philippines or Indonesia, except for Bali, maybe.
