MORE OF THESE LONG STYLE INTERVIEW, THIS HAS SUCH GOOD INFORMATION AND IS VERY CAPTIVATING!
I concur with this individual
I third it

HEX YES
AND MY AXE
I love the story about how the Murder Comet was invented xD I never considered that aspect of writing a sourcebook.
I mean it makes sense, but now I'm wondering which new monsters were made just to make the layout work.
@@Byrdman216 I'm guessing the Dolphin Delighter.
This is the most 'normalising' thing I've ever heard from the D&D Creative Team, as it's such a primal part of dreaming things up.
Sometimes necessity truly is the mother of invention and from it can come some of the best things - things you'd have never even thought of without the impetus of filling a creative void or needing something for a narrative bridge.
Same can be said of the Space Guppy. Art can spark one hells of an array of ideas, from which a minor doodle can become a favourite creation.
Vampirates (0:45)
Aartuk (0:59)
Fihyrs [Fears] (1:23)
Murder Comet lol (2:03)
Space Guppies (4:20)
Reigar (5:00)
Neh-Thalggu [Brain Collectors] (5:56)
Zodar (7:22)
Cosmic Horror (10:20)
Eye-Mongers (10:54)
Surlong? Srrlong? Sirloin steak? (12:16)
Solar/Lunar Dragons (12:43)
Space Swine (13:17)
Do'ar? Dohar? (13:41)
Mercane? Markain? (15:35)
Feyrs (fears)?
thank you!
He said his goal was to make people flipping through the book inspired, but I have been insanely inspired by this video alone. I’m so excited for release
Chirs Perkins is the man. You can pick up like a random starwars D20 from 99 and just find him somehow. Personally I think his blood is made of particularly small D20s. (Literally particularly)
Honestly So Sad, they didnt include a Dohwar Playable Race... would have been a Huge selling point for me, and probably a lot of others, time to search out Home Brew.
Thank you so much for releasing all of these videos. I’m really enjoying all of this new content on RUclips!
15:30 first time I've actually felt genuine remorse through a video of a content creator apologizing, and it's about rainbow penguins.
Amazing
Oh goodness, Zodars. I used a Zodar in an old campaign. It announced itself to the party and helped them on their quest--until--it got them to where it needed them to go. Then slaughter the artifact wierder.
Such a great diverse group of encounter fodder. Can't wait to go through it.
Such a great interview. Thank you!
Love spelljammer!
I held out from playing new editions because spelljammer wasn't in them.
This has pushed me to go "ALL IN" for 5E!
Thanks so very much!
Very cool. Thanks for posting. I had not considered a spelljammer campaign, but now I am interested, after seeing the monsters...
The brain spider has big bbeg energy, like you first encounter a dumb one and it escapes, then again and it's smarter and it escapes again, next time is MUCH smarter and YOU have to escape, and finally you face it at its smartest with maybe the fate of the galaxy in balance
Oh I am going to have SO MUCH fun as a DM using the Dohwar in my Spelljammer campaign 😂
Todd Kenreck has that Time Burton Joker smile
I'm playing a Astral Elf wizard atm!!!! Got my own spelljamer ship..(Lucent Edict)...renamed it Lucent Phoenix. Having a blast!!!
I'm always interested in new monsters and how to work them in my own campaigns. I've always loved kaiju and folk lore monsters and now I have another source to pull from so hell yes more interviews and more monsters please
How long until the space-rainbow-penguins make their player race debut ?
You'd better believe that homebrew dohwar races exist.
Oh man, the Fihyr were in MM2 in 3.0 (or 3.5), way back when! So good!
The "strange metal never before encountered" of the zodars used to be what crystal spheres are made of.
That’s such a sick idea, I love it
I believe it is also meant to be the material that both Blackrazor and Blackjammer's Cutlass are made from as well.
Uhhhhhh, the “Masterstroke” SOOOOOOO COOL as an idea
I am so excited I already preordered! Please don’t do box sets again though, or at least provide a cheaper option, like how CoS revamped didn’t replace CoS
My 16 year old nephew DM's Spelljammer adventures. He has autism and it really helps with his social and interactive skills. He's damn good at it too!
The Kevin feige of d&d! 😂
Real talk this dude is great for the game. He knows what the fans want… just like Kevin feige! Give us an epic campaign to finish 5e. The campaign of campaigns! You know you want to.
I just would've assumed the murder commet was based on the firelich from the 2nd spelljammer monsterbook of 2e, given they are spellcasters who turn into raging comets, that murder people, and well the art is similar both being comets with faces, so it is interesting to hear this other angle behind their creation. Like I had to check the name as I was initially caught off guard they weren't the same monster.
I'm so excited for psurlon in newer editions
I would love an astral great Wyrm
Thanks.
Can't wait to get the Spelljammer books. Is it possible that the Brain Collectors may have been based on the sci-fi horror film "Attack Of The Crab Monsters (1957)"?
Zodar and space clowns were definitely my favorites
For anyone here for the same reason as me, the eye monger @10:54 is what you came to know is in the book.
Looks awesome!
I think 2:03 explains why the dolphin delighter exists!
Dohwar, I love rainbow space penguin merchants.
I get the distinct sense that Chris wanted playable Dohwar in the book but did not get them.
Absolutely my first homebrew addition
more of this long style formate please also for the love of god let me play as rainbow Paguin's!
See and I would have guessed Murder Comet was from 2nd edition. I guess because the situation that created it is similar to the kinds of situations under which many 2nd edition spelljammer monsters were made.
I wonder if the reigar will still be the originators of the figurines of wondrous power.
Now the adorable Flumphs can have cute little penguins as friends instead of Mind Flayers.
Love to see the Dohwar return!
I was "meh" about Spelljammer until this video. The monsters are truly inspiring.
13:42 I want to play a sentient rainbow penguin. Please give us a playable race option for the Dohwar (sp?).
Psurlons🪱, Thri-kreen🦗 last week, so many mentions of Dark Sun...☀
Is this a hint of possibly the return of dark sun?
When talking about the need to squeeze something in with alphabetical order, my first question is how that affects localization.
Right now they very much design the book for English first, then separately create localized editions. So it's more likely that they'll just face similar but different challenges when creating localized editions, like needing to choose a non-obvious name for a creature in order to position it in a suitable place in alphabetical order.
Wait. Hold up! 50s Pulp. That is interesting man.
This comes out right around my birthday. Happy birthday to me!
Is it canon to go to outer planes with a spelljammer or not? Do you have to anchor your boat before a color pool to enter it individually?
I don’t see why you couldn’t sail the ship through a pool, but it might be challenging to find a pool that big.
The host is giving me Louis James Lipton vibes! Awesome information and I can't wait for Spelljammer to come out!
Ngl, I am that player that's sad I have to homebrew being a penguin jawa
GRt4!
Uhhh, did they just low key drop the return of Planescape?
The reigar, or klingons with an art degree
Ok, step 1, home brew playable Dowar. Got it
If they didn't give them any new abilities on top of the old 2E I'd go something like:
Ability Score Increase: Increase one ability score by 2 or two different scores by 1 each
Size: Your size is Small
Speed: Your base walking speed is 20 feet, and you have a swimming speed of 40 feet
Hold Breath: You can hold your breath for up to 20 Minutes at a time
Beak: Your beak is a natural weapon, which you can use to make unarmed strikes. If you hit you deal piercing damage equal to 1d4+ your Strength modifier
Persistent Merchant: You have proficiency in the Persuasion skill
Telepathic: You gain the Telepathic Feat
Languages: You can speak, read, and write Common and Dohwar
If it feels a bit strong drop the proficiency.
If it feels a bit weak maybe add something like:
Overwhelming Persuasion: Whenever you make a Charisma (Persuasion) check for the first time in an encounter, if there is another Dhowar on your side of the conversation, you may roll 1d4 and add it to the result of the check.
@@SvenTSexgore what makes you think it's powerful. I mean the strongest thing is getting the telepathic feat for free. And That can be changed to Telepathy that allows you to communicate p long as a creature understands a language
@@HallowedKeeper_ I didn't really. Just wanted to give people ideas on how to take it either way for their table.
@@SvenTSexgore Ah, I uh....I misread your comment. Sorry, it was half-past one when I read it......again sorry I completely missed the uh, If in the first part
I love spelljammer i have been playing it for years
ngl I am tempted to have a Murder Comet with the face of Aphex Twin XD
lol screaming "I WILL EAT YOUR SOULLLL"
Hell yeah, Maximillion and the Black Hole!
Are the Zodar inspired by the Sontarans?
Are Bionoids back? I want a guyver suit.
I have a very random question, I'm new to dnd, and was wondering what the use of "hit die" are? I'm a mountain dwarf barbarian (berserker) and the 5e handbook says my hit die is 1d12 per barbarian level, I play 5e can someone please simply explain?
Hit dice are used to determine your hit points, which represent how much beating you can take. See the Player's Handbook page 12.
Your hit die equates to the dice you roll for both the amount of hit points you gain each level and for the amount of hp you can get back on a short rest (on a short rest you can spend and roll your hit dice to heal getting half of your maximum back each long rest)
I am glad Spelljammer is coming back. I personally hate sci being mixed into my fantasy but a lot of people seem to love it.
I can play club penguin in Dungeons and Dragons?!?
So i can fight medieval-esque Krill?!? Is there an Orville?!?!?!!
PIGS IN SPAAAACE!
Comets are made of ice. 😅
Origins for creatures in the book are awesome
"The Master Stroke" lmfao
It sounds like Todd would enjoy Numenera.
This monster menagerie looks excellent.
Comets are ice 😫
ohhhh sht 5e Lunar and Solar Dragos
i feel like a space tarrasque varaint was a missed opportunity
My one issue with the Murder Comet is that comets are made mostly of ice, hence the nickname "dirty snowballs." But hey, I'll just homebrew it slightly to make it more accurate.
There are giant hamsters, people breathing in space, space clowns, super intelligent hippo people... And what brothers you is that the comet is not made of ice? Hahahaha
@@hilnnerfarias913 I would say realism is only part of the issue here. When they began to talk about comets and elementals, I thought "Oh yeah, they are doing something fun with ice" and then it turned out to be yet another fire creature. So yeah, I am going to consider those "murder meteors" and say that true "murder comets" are made of ice.
@@hilnnerfarias913 tbf they should have done the minimum amount of research to know the definition of words they use and the elements comprising the irl counterparts to what inspired their creatures
I feel like enough of the entrapped gases that get released as part of a comet's tail are flammable that you could make the argument that its effectively a frozen fire elemental.
I was watching thinking "Oh, they're like Maximillian" before Chris confirmed it LOL
i've not seen that film
@@bleddynwolf8463 I saw it in the theater as a kid and it was fantastic. Like Todd said, it's darker than we think of Disney being now, but it's not bad. The soundtrack is a fantastic orchestral score.
@@johng7566 i'll keep an eye out
I really agree with what Chris said about the important of page layouts and why they added the murder comet.
I adore my monster books from kobold press (tome of beasts 1-2 and creature codex) but there are a ton of big stat blocks that get broken up by a page turn and they're practically unusable because of it.
Fr the monsters and lore are cool but the layout is shid sometimes
When are we getting a playable plant race
Wizards "we have fun here"
why not subtitles in this video?
WHERE IN THE HECK IS MY BOI LARGE LUIGI!
Can you reach the Far Realm with a spelljammer?
Don’t see why not-the real problem would be knowing which way to go.
Wouldn't Vampires actually dislike space because there is very little blocking the rays of Sun/Star Light?
maybe its a distance thing?
I'd think it's a distance thing. Sure there's nothing blocking them, but they're so far away they have negligible effect. Same reason they don't mind the night even though there are stars.
9:33 I remember black hole! Ancient movie, bit of a Star Wars rip-off but then so many movies from that era were.
Brain collector=flood confirmed
The Black Hole was awesome! Now, I need a V.I.N.C.E.N.T. familiar.
You get a B.O.B.
Dowhar PCs! PLEASE!
Will Neogi be introduced ?
5e already has neogi?
@@Nildread where ? I couldn't find any official release .
@@warrenelkins1861 originally in Volo's guide I believe, but now in Monsters of the multiverse
yep, they're in volo's and reprinted in the multiverse book. same kinda with giff, but the other bestiary MToF and reprinted in monsters of the multiverse. I do feel like neogi should get a mention in these spelljammer books though. maybe in the ship section? would be weird to have spelljammer without neogi deathspiders and such. but I guess it's also possible they could reprint the giff and neogi stat blocks in these.
New Homebrew rule rainbow Penguins as a race and they come with space swines.
Pigs in Spaaaaaace!
Will there be flying pig mount minis and are they only usable by small races
The cosmic horror kind of gives me orgalorg vibes from adventure time.
Is the murder comet kind of like the classic Blazeoid?
*WITCHLIGHT MARAUDER* ... the Extinction Level Event beastie :p
Club Penguins in SPAAACCCEEEE!
7:50 looks like something from hollow knight
But comets are made of dirty and ice
8:46. so they made transformers prime soundwave as living armor
We get elf variant number 284749363940474 but not playable space penguins. For shame.
Disney’s Black Hole - that is so old school. When Disney tried to make a Star Wars like movie. Maximilian (robot). Vincent(small robot hero). And “zombies”. And that ship, still one of the most beautiful gothic models ever made.
Down the Rabbit Hole . . . Question: When people invent new stories and new ideas, they are creating new information that did not originate from This Universe...
How is it that our Imaginations can Create that which is not ? Brains and Human Souls are an amazing thing . . .
i hope esper ranks all these monsters
Ah so the changes to Reigar are full canon not just B Dave's Legends of the Multiverse canon. I was wondering.
