We are a Dungeons and Dragons documentary. We interview the creators of D&D and people in the DnD community. Every week we post new videos on how D&D gets made and tips and tricks on being a player and a Dungeon Master. This show is made possible by the amazing Dungeons & Dragons community and by our subscribers on Patreon.
A wickedly whimsical adventure for the world’s greatest roleplaying game.
SOMETHING WICKED THIS WAY COMES
Once every eight years, the fantastic Witchlight Carnival touches down on your world, bringing joy to one settlement after the next. Its owners, Mister Witch and Mister Light, know how to put on a good show. But there’s more to this magical extravaganza than meets the eye!
The carnival is a gateway to a fantastic Feywild domain unlike anything found on the Material Plane. Time has not been kind to this realm, however, and dark days lie ahead unless someone can thwart the dastardly schemes of the Hourglass Coven.
The Wild Beyond the Witchlight™ takes adventurers from the Witchlight Carnival to Prismeer, a Feywild domain of delight, and is designed for characters of levels 1-8. This book comes with a poster map that shows the carnival on one side and Prismeer on the other.
• This is the first official Dungeons & Dragons® adventure set primarily in the Feywild, the Plane of Faerie.
• The Witchlight Carnival, which serves as the means by which the characters enter the Feywild, can be dropped easily into any campaign setting.
• Players can create characters using one of two new races presented in this adventure, faeries and the harengon (rabbit folk).
• Two new character backgrounds are included: the Feylost (for characters who grew up in the Feywild) and the Witchlight Hand (for characters who work at the Witchlight Carnival).
• All encounters in the adventure include a non-combat option, allowing players to think and roleplay their way through the adventure if they wish.
• The adventure features the return of Warduke, Strongheart, Kelek and other classic D&D characters from the 1980s.
For use with the fifth edition Player’s Handbook®, Monster Manual®, and Dungeon Master’s Guide®.
“Used to be…?” The air grows cold around Todd as he realizes that mists start to creep at his back, as Chris burns embers into his very soul for his transgression.
The shadows grow longer, and flickering within those creeping shadows Todd catches the faintest glimmer of amber.
Weaponizing hospitality sounds like a lot of fun. Can't wait for the release.
This is what food workers call killing with kindness.
It sounds a lot like Xenia, which is a major theme theme in Homer's The Iliad and, especially, The Odyssey.
"How does a Carnival lead to the Feywild?" ..... "Look! It's a Dungeons & Dragons ride ...!!" 😉
first thing that popped into my head seeing chris: "11 DAYS!"
after the parallel plane of Depression, we head to the parallel place of Mania.
Glad to see you doing an interview with Chris Perkins! Thank you for this!
I have been looking forward to the Feywild for ages. Its a great back drop for stories like Alice in Wonderland, the Wizard of Oz and Labyrinth. Thank you for covering it Todd.
New Content; also CHRIS PERKINS LET'S GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
Todd.... the No-Beard..... why? WHY?!?!?
I literally saw it and yelled "OH GOD" and freaked my daughter out lmao
I’m really hoping for some awesome new “monsters” in this adventure. 5e has been sorely lacking in powerful fey that aren’t hags. I’m very excited for this book!
I ran some redcaps at one of my groups once. They knocked the barbarian prone with their big kick with their iron boots.
My very first game of D&D played in the summer of 1979 we encountered Leprechauns and one of the fighters drew his sword to try to intimidate it for its gold, only to have it polymorphed into a venomous serpent. He nearly died as the tiny men giggled their delight. I was the cleric, and had to decide if saving my party member would get me on the little pest's bad side... I ended up saving the fighter. I remember thinking how crazy it felt that these fey creatures were just having fun and were simultaneously deadly. Ever since that first game I've really wanted to return to the fey... and sadly subsequent versions of D&D have just ignored it... til now. Super excited!!
White Wolf/ World of Darkness: Changeling the Lost, ..
even if you don't play the game, it is just a fun read.
Gives me a shivering aisles vibes! I am excited.
Love your interviews and conversations!
... I see Chris Perkins, I press like... (I desperately need him to GM another Series)
Todd is becoming more Chris Perkins-like every video I happen to see. Soon he'll be wearing black hats and DMing like a boss.
OMG: Chris Perkins is an Absolute D & D Legend. He's so Amazing & Brilliant. Thx so much 4 Sharing & Posting this for us mere mortals.....👽👽👻😉
"You WILL sit down have HAVE some cookies!"
" But, .. but .. but .. if you ever eat anything in the Feywild we won't be able to return home ! Dude what are you doing ?"
Guy mowing down on the cookies, " I live in NYC, I had no interest in return to a world under threat of nuclear war & climate change."
" Thank you very much, I would like a cookie."
Love Todd's interviews! ^^
I can't wait to see the Heroes of the Demiplane visit here, I hope TJStorm returns as Keen, and also the Todd Bowie Archfey as well, maybe we can get Todd Lord of Darkness next with Todd in costume for the stream. There could even be a special crossover with the Mighty Niens Jester, Fyord, and Artagen.
Fjord. Fjord Tufft.
I haven't seen Chris in so long I was starting to think I only dreamed about him.
Weaponizing hospitality... my trust issues will love this
"So..Clown."
Yup. They knew what they were doing. The tarrasque seems more agreeable than THAT thing.
Please do more videos like this. Great content! I missed this kind of interview... zoom meetings aren't the same of this
"How do you weaponize hospitality?" - I recommend watching the 1988 film "The Beast"
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Beast_(1988_film)
If there's no fey sorcerer subclass included I'm going to be sorely disappointed
I wish this book was out now! Our D&D campaign just went to the fey wild. One of the PCs is looking for his father, an elf who crossed over from the fey wild to the prime material plane during a battle, where he went raping and pillaging leaving a bastard half-elf son in his wake. This PC wishes to "confront" his father (he's out for revenge). The whole campaign is based on Terry Pratchett's Discworld, in which elves come from the fey wild and can only cross over if somebody opens a portal from the prime material side - which a few young witches did accidentally in the book Lords and Ladies.
Strand VS Witchlight :
Demiplane of Dread VS Demiplane of Whimsy
We once played a campaign in a modern setting that featured the fae heavily and there was a big focus on the rules, specifically the one of hospitality. We once stumbled into the realm of a winter fae and she demanded reparations for this intrusion. We were stuck fulfilling favours until we actually managed to overpay so badly that we gained a permanent ally in her.
This book sounds like a real cool way to get back into that sort of campaign.^^
Very much looking forward to this book!
I'm a simple man. I see Chris Perkins, I watch.
I’m excited about the two new playable races. However, does the Faery race cover playing Pixies and Sprites?
I believe that you can decide if your fairy is a brownie, pixie, sprite, ect. Whether they are mechanical differences like subraces for Fairy or just flavor text remains to be seen.
It seems like the new Fairy pc race is it’s own species. Players can play as Pixies and Sprites by having them take sidekick levels.
I'm so excited for this, it's going to be so cool
I just picture Molly Carpenter, Mouse and Maggie playing ski ball with Artagan and Jester or Dungeon Master eating funnel cake with Jareth.
This will be interesting as I’ve currently traumatized my players to carnivals thanks to a meat carnival that’s nearly destroyed them twice!
"The Feywild is a Chaotic place" and then talks about the Rules of hospitality and ownership and the Law of the land...
So, the demi-plane of dread is apart of the shadowfell? Had no idea
It is in 5e. I don't think it was in 2nd edition when it was created, since there really wasn't a Shadowfell then.
I want that T-shirt.
There is an Odyssey of the Dragonlords feelings in these rules
I felt that too.
You had me at "Chris Perkins"
Will we get some D&D information on Ellywick (sp)?
Crazy that Chris Perkins is HERE and not at DndBeyond xD
How do you weaponize hospitality? Two worda: Red Wedding
I always thought Bowie was just playing himself in Labyrinth.
Todd with no beard scares me
I hope Strahd is in this castle too
When Chris refers to domains here, are they like Planes in the D&D sense? If not, how is a domain different than a Plane?
Domains of dread are in the Shadowfell, they are pockets of the Shadowfell. Domain of delight would be the same. Pockets of the Feywild ran by someone specific.
But the next one will be Spelljammer right??!?
Always the next one, but never this one.
i wish we will be still alive to see other settings (dark sun, spelljammer and planescape...) and more planes of the great wheel
this might be a good campaign or a bad one. I wish it turns good. Let's wait for the reviews, but I am interested.
quick someone convince & hype me on the alternate cover
0:05 Clearly someone blasphemed while I wasn't looking.
I made my feywild natural world the size of plants and insect in the movie honey I shrunk the kids. And any spell cast over 1st lvl has different effects. Gargantuan insects that have hundreds of hp. Formorian armies
Tod talks
SQUIRT!
Who is this Joker looking dude? Just add face paint haha
Grow the beard again Todd xD
I'm not interested in any D&D game with no combat.
Spurt!
