When he says "get lost" I know exactly what he means. It's those thoughts that come randomly and when I become aware, I can't seem to recall the thoughts of just moments ago. When he says being "aware but not meditation", I know it's being aware of those thoughts, even the random ones, and being able to trace them all the way back to where they started. Since I've started meditating, I've been more and more aware of my thoughts and the difference between the two. It's been a very interesting journey so far. Now, when I'm aware of thoughts, i seem to be able to examine the content of those thoughts more deeply. It leads to some entertaining ideas and insightful self-reflection. Unlike the superficial random thoughts of the "monkey mind."
Wow.. That great .. I love to trace all the things, but it takes times, after that how to analyse those thoughts! Can you explain that? It will be helpful for a novice like me !
@@YaksenPushMongo I have a question, so when you “recognize your awareness” do you then become mindful and present? For Example if I am meditating and I get lost in thoughts but I realize that I am do i then shift my attention to the present and focus on that?
One thing I learn from the habit of meditation that it also bring much more other good habits(exercise, healthy food, healthy reading, want to do things, etc).
I wonder at which point people stop viewing lack of grooming as something positive instead of negative. "Oh he's not grooming himself out of laziness, it's out of enlightenment."
@@欺软怕硬 It isn't out of laziness. Nice try. Try to rid yourself of anger and jealousy. You will feel much better. When you attack others only you are attacking yourself.
@@欺软怕硬 I can understand that. Grooming has long been an important part of many religions, and most especially Buddhism. From what I can gather, Rinpoche was taking part in an intensive retreat. Maybe grooming was kept to the sidelines here? He looks clean, with or without the hair. I believe that as long as we are clean, that is more important than shaving.
Mingyur Yongey Rinpoche!!!!!!! You are a wonderfull teacher . Namaste. And you look SO cute with your hair on :D sun is shining... the weather is sweet.. :D Thank you for this treasure teaching. You have a beautiful way of expressing and explaining the mind. Thank you so much for teaching. Namaste, God bless you

Thank you so much for sharing your thoughts and knowledge with us. I believe you're the first person I came across with here in WWW that makes meditation simple and easy. That's how it should be. :)
I remeber when I had the 1st experience like this. I was like... "whoa what? Feels exactly like waking up... but waaait where the hell was I for the last 40 years???" - It really was eye opening, realizing I actually was around - summing up the moments altogether - 24 hours aware in my whole life so far... wow.
Occasional thoughts about the past or future are fine; mindfulness (as I understand it) helps those who think constantly over the mistakes of the past, or worry constantly over what's coming in the future, and are therefore failing to live a meaningful and satisfying life in the here and now.
What a great teaching. The jewel 💎 here is even when we are unconscious we are aware. So then the question is are we present or lost in our awareness at any given moment?
I understand awareness is always with us, but how do you recognize it? How can you recognize something that is not in experience. A camera can’t take a picture of itself. So how can we recognize what we already are???
Helo Rinpoche Ive noticed that I feel angry deprresed scared and I have an dark negative state of mind what is the solution?how can I be balanced calm relaxed?
Yeah, it would help I suppose. But the best and simplest thing to do is to have satisfying sex on a regular basis. No one that has that ever feels like depressed angry scared for no reason. I wish u all the best, Vasile
I learned about Rinpoche and even read his book , but all this time I knew him with his shaved head. I also have watched tons of videos with him and everywhere he was like that. And when the thumbnail of this video came out on RUclips I saw a swarthy guy with long hairs and mustache and thought " What this Indian guy is doing on Rinpoche's videos?" and went on scrolling down. Only today, when this video appeared again in recommendations, I just looked at the picture more attentively and some lightning stroke in my head like "Wait a minute, is that Rinpoche himself??" And this is actually the question I'd like to ask (him or anyone who is in deep knowledge of meditation): does the hair on the head influence the meditation process anyhow? I mean, most of the monks we see, they're shaved bald but does that really matter?
To be honest,At I was trouble learning from him because if his accent but over time I love him now.♥️♥️,he fat, funny, thin,he wear speck,he doesn't,he everything ♥️♥️😂
Just my opinion, but when he says "get lost", or "mindless" to the lay person that actually means "day dreaming." In other words, you're not aware, instead you're day dreaming about something, which is the opposite of Mediation.
What do you do if something that bothers you is in this moment while you meditate? Not like a thought, but a feeling. Sometimes I get really frustrated because I can feel my heartbeat and I can't not notice it. It is very annoying. How can I meditate without this feeling of frustration with that?
Just sit with the frustration. Trying to get rid of the frustration creates more frustration. Just sit with it. Don't judge it. Be friendly with it and focus on your breath.
This dude is awesome. He is fat, he is thin, he has a jungle on his head, his head as is smooth as an egg, he wears glasses, he doesn't wear glasses.
Hahahaha
My god.... hahahah
Being at oneness makes you eternally cool no matter how you look what you wear or age
hahaha :) Yeah, he looks so different than usual. I like him very much ! He`s so gentle and clear !
He is also in focus, and also out of focus.
When he fist said 'awareness' I was like aha, its him.

40 years old with no greys. Meditation has it's benefits.
HE IS ASIAN.
He just completed a long retreat whereby he does not shave and cut any body hair. The retreat usually last 1-3 years or longer.
I just became really aware of his hair. You are beautiful with or without that amazing hair and beard.

His way of explaining really fits our Western mind and culture. A great teacher.
Protect this man at all costs
For 30s I thought it"s so amazing that this person speaks just like Mingyur Rinpoche, he even makes the same grammar mistakes with English : D
Tan Tanner NLP can explain that behavior.
talking about meditation, not to judge about

hahaha yes. Mingyur's way of speaking is very unique indeed.
He is great.
So, you speak the Queen's English?
This gentleman amd his community are changing the western world with these precious teachings.. Truly brilliant 👏

Why is it so important to live in the present? I sometimes enjoy thinking about the past or future.
