On Series X. Totally agree on the controls feeling just a bit off. I can't seem to get the timing just right on parries and stuff. Otherwise, the game looks gorgeous and runs really well so far. After one play session I am near halfway through. After Horizon Forbidden West (95 hours) and Elden Ring (120 hours) back to back, I really needed a short, tight, linear experience to blast through before tackling something more meaty again. This, even flawed, is perfect.

I’ll admit to not liking this game, when I first tried it. But I gave it another chance. This time I walked slowly through and checked out all the scenes. The game is beautiful.😍 It’s visually amazing, but the combat isn’t the best. My issue before was playing like Ghost of Tsushima, which for me meant spending all my stamina and getting my butt kicked. Again, slowed myself down and took it all in, which ended up being a much better experience. I’m sure it’s much cheaper now, so I’d recommend checking it out.👍🏼

I'm going to try it a bit on Game Pass. I try nearly everything on there at least a bit unless I already played in on PS and don't think it is worth another play.
Thats a big bummer about the gameplay as this game caught my eye when it was first announced. I reckon ill still check it out at some point though because the aesthetic is *Chefs kiss*
I love this style of game aswell. Normally they're referred to as cinematic platformers but this game doesn't really have platforming so I'm not sure what to call it.
I loved Little Nightmares which actually got me to check out limbo and I sode which I loved as well. I went on to play Balck the fall and Little Nightmares 2 so this definitely looks good
Gonna try it out on Gamepass then buy it on PS if i like it enough. Thanks for the early input. Hoping it gets enough support, the developer can add on or do more games.
Playing it on game pass right now and I’ve been enjoying it a lot, I have always been a big fan of games like limbo and insider, I like the combat but there are a few flaws with it. The game is beautiful too
I just have the sense from this and the Gameranx take that I will feel the same way about this game as Jake. I also love Inside and Limbo, but I see how if the fighting mechanics are off that it would be frustrating. Still gonna play it though!
It really does look fantastic but one think i felt was missing and would have , even if its just for me, just felt like something was missing but then i realized what it was... BLOOD...its sword fight so a splash ( jus a tab) would have make it really stand out. And dead on about the combat regardless of how visually stunning it is ... sadly i refunded
I just finished this and I personally love this style of level design whatever it's called, I thought the graphics were top par and really gives you that movie feel, and lastly I REALLY enjoyed the 180 flip the story takes you on. That being said I totally agree with you, the controls could definitely use some tightening up, especially the paring system, other than a few minor things this is a great 20 dollar or free (Xbox) game I'd you like this style of game. 👍
The game was terrible to play on Series X or PS5 at launch. I started with the game pass version but the framerate/frame pacing is so off that getting the combat down was just awful. I found out the PS4 version running on PS5 is a locked 60fps and it makes the parry timing totally natural. There was a patch just the other day that has made the PS5 version very solid (Series X still needs some work). This was one of the best visual experiences I've had in a game in a long time and the combat is better than it was at launch.
i think this game is awesome i do think the combat takes getting use to but its not that bad it reminded me a little of original resident evil with controls where the clunky a.i and combat added something i think it would be way to easy if the controls were tight
Chapter 5 was a bit of a drag but the game ended strong. The combat was pretty rough but once I had it down it was a bit more smooth . 6 out of 10 for me. Combat is my only problem. Maybe it could get a future tweak.
I like the artistic style. For whatever reason on series x the game is very choppy, running from section to section the character very obviously stutters through the scenery. The animations felt kinda immersion breaking. But i love the different take they chose. I hate to compare to GOT but the swordplay cant compare
Beautiful visuals and environment design... sword gameplay needs to be totally reworked. If they approached the swordplay like Sekiro or Ghost of Tsushima, this game could've been a masterpiece.
I got the Platinum for this one, I loved the old film effect they went for but I found the combat very frustrating and in the hardest difficulty [ Ronin ] which they want you to do its insane. It took me two weeks to complete it but it felt like longer. I am glad I didn't buy it and got it on PS+
I agree. Worth checking out, but combat felt almost spongey. Also, when are we getting another Way of the Samurai game? I adored those games, and wish the franchise would make a come back.
Ive enjoyed it enough to play through the game on gamepass, the art style is amazing, the combat/parry is something that definitely could have been improved however

Based on the description, it sounds like the speed-run community would eat this up!
Is this game digital only cuz I have not been able to find a physical release disc for it? Thanks
This one is high on my list, but my main game right now involves repairing some old jewelry, so it will have to wait
i've had really bad stuttering and i dont know how to fix it
I loved Little Nightmares which actually got me to check out limbo and I sode which I loved as well. I went on to play Balck the fall and Little Nightmares 2 so this definitely looks good
I'm definitely gonna get this.
I kind of love the combat--its clunky but like u said it makes it harder and only makes u focus more
Gonna try it out on Gamepass then buy it on PS if i like it enough.
I'm playing this game now an im having fun I love the look of it the controls at times def gets me pissed off but for me it's been a gd experience
Do you think they will release a color mode or mod eventually
Your honesty cheered me up. 😉 I'll still check it out in time. In spite of its flaws. 💪👍
I'll buy it once it goes on sell. Right now tryna work on finishing Sifu before jumping into another game.
Going to try it for sure
Just reminded me of how much i wanted Shadow complex 2
👍👍
For some reason the sound and some subtitles just stop working
I should check out it you say?
i wonder have they patched the combat at all since release or is it still the same at this point?
I really enjoyed this game from start to finish. The visuals are fantastic! The combat is its weakest part but its still very enjoyable.
I'll play the game if it comes out on switch it'll be fun to play this on a go or just in bed or somewhere else, you know.
I wish this comes on Switch.
i think this game is awesome i do think the combat takes getting use to but its not that bad it reminded me a little of original resident evil with controls where the clunky a.i and combat added something i think it would be way to easy if the controls were tight
How does it run on the base ps4? Is it playable?
I got the Platinum for this one, I loved the old film effect they went for but I found the combat very frustrating and in the hardest difficulty [ Ronin ] which they want you to do its insane. It took me two weeks to complete it but it felt like longer. I am glad I didn't buy it and got it on PS+
I agree. Worth checking out, but combat felt almost spongey.
Also, when are we getting another Way of the Samurai game? I adored those games, and wish the franchise would make a come back.
Oh man, bring it back!!
Ive enjoyed it enough to play through the game on gamepass, the art style is amazing, the combat/parry is something that definitely could have been improved however
