I was only 4 years old when this aired, but I remember this storyline. Even though Alicia Minshew played Kendall for much longer while Sarah Michelle Geller moved onto bigger and better things, SMG will always be the "real" Kendall in my eyes.
I agree 100%! I liked SMG as Kendall more she played the part of a bad girl so natural, Alicia Minshew who I tolerated as Kendall had her moments to me.
SMG reminded me of young Erica; before she became a celebrity. Too bad ABC doesn't have most of that footage anymore. But I have seen scenes where they seem to have the same meanness laced with tons of insecurities. Kendall wasn't as vain as Erica. But they both were clearly damaged and good at causing themselves unnecessary problems. I wonder if SMG studied old SL footage to get into that head space.

She didn’t. Erica was traumatized by the events that surrounded Kendall’s birth, and blocked everything out. Also, she never saw Kendall after she was born. It’s understandable that she wouldn’t recognize her when she saw her.
Sarah Michelle was very good here. Luck had something in her contract that she couldn't have an older daughter..didn't want her character to appear too old.
I love these scenes between Erica, Kendall and Dimitri - kudos to all the actors for bringing their A game. Kendall is a little freak show here. As far as Erica knew, Kendall was just her employee, yet she expected Erica to know that she was her daughter. And, to make matters worse, she was a psycho employee who expected Erica to forget about Bianca to deal with her. She was so full of hate that nothing mattered to her but getting revenge on a mother who didn't even know she existed at first.
This was a great story, Lucci and Geller were amazing in it. The only weak point in the story is I never understood why Kendall was so obsessive and damaged when we saw she had good, loving adopted parents.

I dont think Kendall ever wanted to get along with Erica which is why she dragged that conversation out. It was just the cherry on a sundae of what she would become down the line.....
I really detest and can't understand the negativity towards Lucci. Lucci is an established, respected and hardworking actress and person. Sarah is a good actor but Lucci is equally as good. And together they are magic. I don't know why some people seem so crazy but saying one can't act or can act or is better. It takes two.
From what I heard SMG(Kendall) was pushed into the media as the new Erica. On top of SL hadn’t won a Emmy and here comes this little powerhouse getting Emmy nominations her first year on the show. I’m not saying that SL was or wasn’t mean but SMG has a rep also so everyone please stop just throwing SL underneath the bus. I love Buffy also but stop it y’all. SMG has a great career and SL is still amazing as ever so they both won. Let’s let go something almost 30 years ago!

SL is friends with KR but SMG and SL didn't share one scene together when she returned for AMC finale. Nor do they ever mention each other LOL! It's clear something happened during that time. Now from what's being gossiped SL hated having SMG be her daughter due to her getting rave reviews and Emmy Noms out the gait. SMG was a nightmare young diva because of the rave reviews and the praise!!!
They're both women who have been with the same husband for years and love their kids. This is a soap opera. I can't believe some soaps are still around. And the actors look the same after years and years. Well preserved. Even the guy who played Cliff Warner on AMC.

Brie Larson, this is the type of acting I want to see when you’re trying to act your way out of a wet paper bag as if you’re life depended on it. This is one of the reasons why an Emmy Award winner is better than you when it comes to acting. Sarah Michelle Gellar is a better actress than you the same way Buffy Summers is a better superhero than Captain Marvel.
I really don't like Sarah Michelle Gellar's acting. She's good but she always seems like she's thinking through her lines, almost too calculated to be natural.
