@@TL2354 I had a problem with editing. I only started watching AMC in 1983 with The Tad Martin Storyline. Poor Tom, he was such a great guy but he had such bad luck with Women.
Erica was the classic narcissist. She really went all out in this episode trying to gaslight Tom. First, she tried to deny. Then she tried to judge him for snooping. Then she tried to play helpless victim. Every single approach she took, she'd hoped to make Tom second guess himself. Even when there was no way out after having the pills shoved in her face, she kept saying "I told you, I'll stop taking them." Never once said, "I'm sorry for taking them behind your back." It was still, I told you I'd stop so it's YOU who are being unreasonable here.
This scene was so amazing because this was the first time that Erica had to take acountability for what she did. Her other husbands never dealt with her like tom did as far as I know. I still remember when she was a Teenager and she was moaning and whining over phillip and tara being together. Chuck told her to leave it alone but she wouldn't.
Tom wasn't playing with her! He was HOT! And he didn't call her on all of the lies he had caught her in. The other day I saw a scene with him and Mona when he brought up a LOT of other stuff she had done; even before he married her. He probably felt like a fool because he knew she was trouble.

Cringe-worthy. Could not have such a preposterous premise for a show today. The nerve; demanding the right to control her own body. It's not "denying him a child" it's asserting her right NOT to have a child.
@@patricias5122 The issue wasn't him forcing her to have a child. The issue is that she lied to him and pretended like she wanted to. That's why Tom got so hot. If she had been honest and let him know she didn't want kids it probably wouldn't have been an issue. The sneaking around and taking birth control pills while telling her husband she was trying to get pregnant was the cringe. And then she STILL continued to lie to his face after getting busted; which sounded like just the LATEST lie he caught her in. The man had HAD IT with her lying azz!
Tom acted like he owned her body. That’s the way marriage was actually perceived back then. It was a transaction where you became the man’s goods. Women have come a very long way.
Back in these days, "windows" in the sets were an inconvenience. They had to put up these sets and take them down all in the same day. Adding windows would mean adding backdrops and fake greenery and lighting outside of the window, which took up valuable space and time. Once the 80s came around and soaps started getting bigger budgets, they built grander sets.
Also at that time you almost never saw characters "Outside". I remember in Flowers In The Attic Cathy talked about how the Characters on The Soaps never went outside themselves. In The UK The Characters were both outside and inside as well.
Back in the day on Coronation Street (UK) the exterior scenes were filmed outside and the interior scenes were video. One of the most memorable was when Anne Kirkbride (RIP), parked her daughter outside of The Rovers, the neighborhood pub and bar, it was 1976, then a crash was heard outside and a rubble of wood was where Tracy was, Diedre went hysterical but fortunately she was safe. Some mad woman took her for a walk outside before the crash took place.
