I actually remember watching this episode baxk in December 1979, when I was a senior in high school...the best days of our lives, television and life will.never be so great again!
I was a sophomore in high school and remember this so well! All My Children, One Life to Live, and General Hospital were at the top of the ratings during this time. This was when the soaps were awesome, not like the ridiculous trash that is left of them now! @@jeanniearnold6726
I was nine and had the chicken pox. I don’t remember this exact episode. I began watching when Phoebe was engaged to Langley and Myrtle Fairgate was taunting him.
It is a simple joy to find these episodes. Vintage Erica and the characters that made AMC the show it was. It is rare indeed to find anything with Dr. Tyler and I’m so pleased that he was able to give Erica a scolding….as a good future stepdad would.😁
Can't even imagine how fun it must have been for Susan Lucci to do a scene where Erica throws a major hissyfit/diatribe at her mother Mona. Moments like those were always so enjoyable. I'm so glad I got into watching daytime serials in my youth. Always addictive, and occasionally featuring some fantastic storytelling.
The acting and writing were all A+ during this time on AMC. I wish we could get even half as good writing today. The stories are all so dull on these shows now. Its like they are trying to kill off the soaps now. Not many left today.
I..... Wouldn't go /that/ far. To be fair and with the nostalgia glasses off, I used to love these shows and watched them daily with my mom. They /were/ amazing then, yes. But truly the acting viewed from today's eyes is extreme over-the-top cheese. 😂 Like Tom at the end "You can't say I didn't try!" and his cheesy/cringy outburst at the very end of the vid. 🤣 🤣 The actors (all of them) just waited for the other person's line to end then they'd recite their lines, back and forth, no /true/ reactions. Like I said, totally over-the-top grade A cheese. But it's silly and fun cheese.
No one is trying to kill soaps now. Theyre dying on their own. It costs millions of dollars to produce these shows but viewership has declined along with the quality of writing, acting and production. This was over 40 years ago. Times have changed and so has the TV audience. Susan Lucci hersef is sliding down towards 80 yrs old. Ruth Warrick and Louis Edmonds ( Phoebe and Langley ) are long dead. Time to move on people. Its 2024.
These clips of young Erica confirm that Kendall got her DNA. All of this seems like some mess Kendall would have messed around and gotten herself into.
That scene where Langley is remembering or thinking or whatever he is doing is hilarious. “I snatched her purse. The old battle axe got a strangle hold on me and wouldn’t let go. That woman is a powerhouse. She beat me to within an inch of my life”. 😂😂😂
They are moving these backwards. I am hoping we see some clips before Charles and Phoebe split, with her faking her disability to keep him and Mona apart.
I’d love that, too. Also when Brooke used that info to blackmail Phoebe in order to prevent Phoebe from sending Brooke away. Hellion Brooke sounds as if she were a blast!
I really really want to see the scene where Phoebe got busted for faking paralysis. I was very young, but I seem to recall her being caught standing up and her declaring it “a miracle!” or something like that. Would love to see if I even remembered it correctly over all these years. That scene was also my great-grandmother’s favorite and she got a big kick out of Phoebe.
15:35 I always hated those ridiculous lamps that the set designers put in the hospital rooms. Why did they pick something that looks like a big ol uterus?? 😂
Nobody here is defending Erica. Is her body. Tom has no right to tell her if she should or should not get pregnant. Is he going to carry the child for 9 months? He needs to shut up and let Erica decide. Men can be real A-holes. I can't believe nobody here is defending Erica. That would have been Agnes Nixon's position.
I agree that Erica should not have a child unless she wants to. But the problem is that she was not honest about this to Tom. She married him knowing he wanted children, and told him she did too. Then she secretly took birth control while pretending she was trying to get pregnant.
No he wasn't. Erica LIED to him about wanting to have his children, her taking contraption, and he was CATHOLIC. SHE RUINED THEIR MARRIAGE. She was always nothing but a man eater. How could you listen to all the things she did BEFORE she denied him children & yet blame him for being so angry?
It wasn’t that she didn’t have a baby. She could have just told him she wasn’t ready yet. Instead, she misled him and made a decision contrary to plans they made together. To be fair, would have probably considered doing what she did.

I was a senior too but didn’t start watching until that next summer before college. Then I never missed an episode

From November 27, 1979...I think this episode was originally aired.
I like watching All My Children One Life To Live and General Hospital back in the day I still like it bring it back
Yes miss all three drama and my favorite of all Edge of Night ❤❤❤❤❤😊
The fun days of Phoebe and Langley! I loved AMC back then.
I remember this with Langley driving up to Pheobe's house.

Thanks for the upload !! The episodes from the 70's are a real treat !!
Tom was so pissed and rightly so! 😂
I'm with Tom. When you're constantly being deceived, you have to shut that s**t down. Stand your ground Tom!
Right on time with your comments ❤😊
Right on point with your comments ❤😊😊
Thanks soooo much for these early uploads!!!🤗

Iconic ❤🎉
Woo hoo! I loved seeing Langley/Phoebe!
She's already pregnant, Tom!
Oh, Mylanta! Tom is about to turn big and green, because he is getting "David Banner " right now.
😂😂😂😅
When Erica was pregnant in real life...ironic
... I never knew Langley drove a Monte Carlo.
👍🏽💯🤔
Monte Carlos were all the rage then weren't they?
Ruth Warwick was on Citizen Kane with Orson Wells
Warrick
@@eduardo_corrochio And Welles. :)
@@accomplice55 Oops, I should've caught that!

Absolutely correct about Kendall
Bwaaaaahahaha! My girl Myrtle beat down that broke bum, Langley. Go 'head Myrt.🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Yep. Carnies are a rough crowd!
If Langley were any more rested and relaxed, he'd be dead.
That scene where Langley is remembering or thinking or whatever he is doing is hilarious. “I snatched her purse. The old battle axe got a strangle hold on me and wouldn’t let go. That woman is a powerhouse. She beat me to within an inch of my life”. 😂😂😂

Francesca James!
Nice to see Claudette. I’d like to see more of her and her machinations. We all know how the Eddie Dorrance murder wrapped up, right? 😂
15:35 I always hated those ridiculous lamps that the set designers put in the hospital rooms. Why did they pick something that looks like a big ol uterus?? 😂
That’s a lamp? Well, thank you, because I couldn’t figure out what that was. That’s awful!
😅😅😅😂
But how did Tom get the idea to start an investigation into whether or not Erica was on Birth Control? Did he find some kind of evidence?
Tom was such a devout Catholic
Erica is like Brook Logan She never takes responcibility for her own mess

I'm sorry I don't want to say nothing negative because I like this show but Phoebe and Langley's acting. It's so bad
Man, I would have left that guys insane ass so fast. Going behind her back and snooping just about birth control.... He's so dangerous. 😮

Ok bye then it’s her body how dare him demand a baby .
