Ah but the beauty of watching it all shift after this actress left & we actually had to watch the new Kendall bond with Erica over a very long & VERY dramatic period. A great new version of Kendall & the storylines that led them to each other were some of the best in AMC fiinal years. To say Kendall earned her way into Erica's heart is putting it mildly. Covering up Bianca's murder of Michael Cambias & almost going to jail for it was the turning point (..Bianca blacked out. It took over a year before we found out Kendall knew but covered it up to protect Bianca..) but it had to be great tragedies & high drama to make us believe they were now so close. By the end Erica & Kendall were like twins & Bianca almost seemed like an after thought. It became a Cinderella story for Kendall.
I am SO glad taht Erica didn't get the fairy tale ending she wanted after all the insanity and BS she put on everyting her entire adult life It was only fitting. She lost the oppurtunity to be the movie star she walways wanted and the only man for her Jackson. The conclusion proved that after years of being manipulate, selfish and arrogant, she was now old and all alone!
Especially when you remember the hell she put Mona through. I'm sure Mona would have been laughing at all the DRAMA Kendall and Bianca put her through years later.

That in 1980 when Erica left Pine Valley (Susan Lucci was on maternity leave), and her marriage with Tom dwindling, that Erica learned she was pregnant off-screen. She couldn't abort the fetus, so she had the baby, and gave her up to the Harts. And the reason she would have done this was so she could continue on with her modeling career. I didn't like the rape-twist in this story. Plus it would have given the wonderful Richard Schoburg more to do.

However, I have read on websites that their doing what they can to make major improvements to save the show from cancellation. So maybe bit by bit, their revitalizing it, so that there's a steady balance of all the ingredients that a soap opera requires.

Listening to these rants shows how both Gellar and Lucci are stellar actors. The fact people hate Lucci/Erica shows she can act and ditto for Kendall.
