    Mine is a 2016 model and I only paid 20k. Something I loved about it is the small things I could do to upgrade it and it be DIY. I have lights in the speaker covers, floor board and also in the little cubby above the glove box. I also just upgraded the radio to a jvc touch screen and that alone made a world of difference. These cars are simple to mod and can be fun.

    I actually just purchased a Patriot 2 weeks ago. 2015 with 28,000 miles. Same High Altitude package. The things you are using as a detraction, I view mostly as positives. I don't want a complicated digital cluster. I actually LIKE the very basic display. And that radio is the same one used in the high end Grand Cherokee. That's Chrysler, not even remotely specific to the Patriot. I like the plastic dash. Its easy to keep clean and looks nice when dressed up.I happen to be 6'0", and my knees don't touch the base of the steering column whatsoever. Im not sure if you have short arms maybe? But at 6'0", I can fit comfortably in the front seat, with an adult seating comfortably behind me. My daughter is 5'7" and seats behind me fine, with no complaints. The compass is basically the same chassis and wheelbase. Just a slightly different appearance. Same price.I do agree with the seats. Manual lumbar. Only power forward/back/up/down, with manual angle, and manual passenger seat. Would have been nice to just have full power seats, but hey...its a Patriot, not a Grand Cherokee.The Sunroof is great. My head fits right inside the opening if I choose to sit up high.And the big difference is...I paid $15,000 for mine. Dark Cherry Metallic with the black chrome wheels. I absolutely love it. It gets me 24mpg (small tank though) and I feel very comfortable and safe in it. When the back seats are folded down, theres plenty of storage space in it. I don't actually believe anyone is paying over $30 for a Patriot though. That may be the sticker price, but look at TrueCar, and I see people getting them for $26 with all those options. Its a nice, comfortable, reliable vehicle. Im installing a Pioneer stereo with Apple CarPlay and OBD connection that gives me tire pressures, fuel economy, check engine status, and all the bells and whistles. That was $300. So for $15,300, I am extremely happy with my Patriot purchase.
    On the other hand, the Renegade to me felt tiny. Like a tall Go Kart or something. But, to each their own. Drive what you like...and I like my Patriot a ton!

    • @DreaVonCheeseburger
      @DreaVonCheeseburger 4 года назад

      We just got rid of a 2014 model, based on the one we had i would not recommend. The computer chip inside would sometimes freak out if we were going at a fast speed and tell us we were overheating WITHOUT the gauge even going up (because it wasn't actually overheating) & force us to come to a stop on busy highways. In fact it almost ruined our disneyland trip because it chose to do it then for the 1st time and after 15 minutes it finally let us drive again so we drove back the way we came and got a rental for the rest of the way since it was so unreliable. Another problem it has is when you press the gas it refuses to go for awhile. You can slam your foot down on it hard as you can and it won't respond until it wants to. It is also extremely loud,, we could never hear the radio or each other while talking.. We took it in for these issues and the dealership told us nothing is wrong with it, it passed their exams & "this is just the way these are". Since that was just the way it is & doesn't get any better, we swore off jeeps & bought a Toyota highlander, best decision ever for safety & sanity!!

      @JrsGasolineAlley  7 лет назад

      You missed the point of this video. The point is the Patriot selling for 30k in 2017 is laughable. The problem is not bias, its that the car hasn't changed since it was first introduced. J C I own and daily a 2011 jeep patriot north edition, iv had it for about a year now and i have to say, its been more then reliable other then some minor issues with wheel barings due to the previous owner not taking care of it. It runs perfectly and handles great. Then engine failing seems to be a fluke in your case, it seems that the dealership that did the maintenance could have tampered with something in the engine compartment, they can sometimes tend to do that, although I will admit gen 1 of the patriot had unreliable transmissions(2007-10) but after that they seem to be pretty reliable. Although I do agree with some of what the video is saying, you also have to account for the other technologies in the vehicle, i.e. the freedom drive II drive system, 4wd lock, traction control and the fact that it is small but still a very capable suv that (In canada at least) is still fairly popular (Probably because of our climate), although I do not agree with your opinion, J C, I can understand your frustration, many people tend to develop stigmas towards a certain car based on one car that happened to be a fluke.

    1) it’s a jeep, it isn’t supposed to be the most high tech car out there.
    2) I’m 6’3” and I’m perfectly comfortable driving my patriot everyday.
    3) I’ll admit, the high altitude isn’t worth the money.
    4) Probably because it’s a rental, that’s why there’s excessive wear and tear. And again, a little cheap but why do you need soft touch materials in a jeep?
    5) you’re just being repetitive about the cheapness at this point.
    I drive a 2012 patriot sport with a 2 1/8” lift and i’ve done some other upgrades like a light bar and roof basket and stuff like that and the only other jeep i would drive is a wrangler. the renegade is a fiat and should not be allowed to wear the jeep badge.

    • @JrsGasolineAlley
      @JrsGasolineAlley  7 лет назад

      Cheapness is the point. It was a 2017 model for 30k. Nothing about that should be cheap. Your "2012 Sport" was a base model and was over 10k less than this. That would have been a good car to purchase back in 2012.

    • @DJGaming64

      Jr's Gasoline Alley Listen, It’s not jeeps fault you have stubby T-Rex arms, Im 5’11” (Two inches taller then you) and fit just fine in the drivers seat without touching the steering column with my legs, I personally do not have an issue with the gauge cluster either, I feel that it is just fine the way it is, giving the exact info needed just by a glance, I do not have the touchscreen but i have used the same model touchscreen in the dodge grand caravan and I can agree, it is pretty outdated, there are aftermarket ones that i am considering installing, once you’ve owned a jeep patriot for about a your or so you’ll begin to fall in love with it, when i was little my mom had an 07 and I will admit I do have a bit of a sentimental bias towards it because it was the car my childhood was in so i don’t mind the inconvenient quirks, although I don’t see the big deal with the antenna, it doesn’t change anything why complain about that? It’s not even cheap, it’s just not hidden, and gives the car the classic jeep feel.

    2013 Jeep Patriot owner here. Some complaints are a bit valid such as the weather stripping. Otherwise like others have mentioned not everything is a complete deal breaker. My real only complaint with the Patriots is the CVT is garbage (especially the 4 cylinders). Going up hill in those things are huge transmission killers. If anyone is planning on getting one. Make sure you take the thing up on a actual hill to test it before buying them. If it struggles to go past 60mh or starts making a whining noise, keep looking. Trans replacement is 3-4k used or new. Otherwise the damn thing is dependable from going from point A to B. Never needed to call a tow truck yet on it. It's definitely a blemish for Jeep, but otherwise they are pretty easy to mod and service yourself.

    A few mistakes that pretty much disproves much of your video:
    1. The seat back on the drivers side IS adjustable, there’s a little lever directly behind the power control to adjust your seat forward and backward, however, this one does not have height adjustment.
    2. The USB on the uconnect screen doesn’t “still have holes where the button should’ve been”. There was originally a cover for that USB port that you could pop on and off so it wouldn’t show and stand out amongst the other buttons. Somebody who drove it before you must’ve pulled it off.
    All in all, do your research before you go and bash a car that, in my eyes, is perfectly fine. It’s simple, cheap, and reliable. You can’t be expecting much from a car of its price.

    • @JrsGasolineAlley

I wouldn’t buy one brand new, like you said, they are overly priced for what you’re getting with the renegade being on the line up now, which is most likely why they discontinued it. Although there is still false information in the video, this car really needs the right person to buy it.

But if you are looking for a simple basic car to get you where you need to go I think it's a good buy.

This SUV is perfect if u just drive it and do regular maintenance on it. Don’t care if it’s clean or not, it’s nice to drive cruising by the beach or up the mountains with ur camping gears. It goes wherever u want and don’t care if it gets scratched or dinged. Also has a timeless look which most people goes for and off road. Will last forever.

Not to mention wrenching on it yourself on the rare chance you need to is easier and cheaper then most cars. Honestly in my opinion its an underrated car.
