Regarding the "grandma speaking German but her grandson speaking English" thing, it's actually pretty common for kids who grow up in multilingual houses to be able to understand a language they can barely speak, and vice-versa. If the person speaking the foreign language knows enough English, then the child has no reason to try and learn to actually speak it back to them.

It's just a very slight altering of the vowels [stretching them a bit]; I wouldn't even call it an accent, but rather a little indicator. It's about the only thing I like out of all the movie, since the Krampus-myth is very popular in Austria while it isn't even known to a big part of Germany. At least one thing they got right. :D
Im from Bavaria and every nikolaus, the Krampus came with him to visit houses and scare the kinds into not behaving poorly. It was really fucked up

Props for using an actual German actress to play Grandma, though. Nothing worse than someone speaking pseudo-German gibberish, or having a big fat silly accent. I remember Nightcrawler from X-men II declaring that he's "the spawn of a broom" instead of "the spawn of evil" because the actor is Scottish and can't do umlauts...

You know they actually did explain more clearly later that the family isn't trapped. Krampus did accept Max's repentance but the snowglobe lets him keep an eye on them. They have to keep up the Christmas spirit every single year for the rest of their lives.
But you need a sequel for that. I like snow globe Christmas hell. It's a perfect ending

When did this happen? When was "later?" After the movie? I don't remember anything suggesting that the snowglobe was CCTV for monitoring the families, yet many commenters seem to subscribe to this theory.
Besides, the "trapped in a snowglobe for eternity" is a much better ending. Probably the second most fucked up ending ever, after The Mist.

Actually the ending was never confirmed to be then trapped in a snow globe. Another possible ending is that the snow globe is just a method for Krampus to keep an eye on the families to make sure they kept their promise to Krampus

What's with all the hate for this movie? It perfectly captured the fun feeling horror movies used to have, instead of the bland, jumpscare heavy stuff that take themselves so seriously we get nowadays. It's meant to be corny. Why go for strict realism in a movie about a goat demon?

1:24 honestly people who only speak one language wouldn't understand this, but in foreign language speaking families, it's pretty common to see the first native generation learn to understand the language, but not be comfortable speaking it, while the older generation learn the local language, but not be comfortable speaking it, resulting in the parents (or in this case grandparents) speaking the foreign tongue, while the child (or in this case grandchild) speaking the local tongue, while both understand each other perfectly. I do it all the time with my parents, I can understand them perfectly, but it's still their native tongue, and they'll speak it while i respond in english.
My god thank you. I didn't want to leave a comment about that because this was years ago, but I'm so so glad someone *did.* I myself live in a bilingual family (all my relatives speak Spanish, including my parents), with me and my sister the only ones who natively speak English.

I can confirm that being an Eagle Scout is difficult, and it is a source of respect and can get you noticed by more jobs and colleges (in a good way).
My daughter is applying to the Air Force and we just happened to see that if you’re an Eagle Scout you can enter the military with an advanced enlisted rank. They don’t have to start at the bottom of the ladder - which says a lot about the training and experience an Eagle Scout has.

Coke always leaves my mouth feeling dry and raspy afterwards, and Pepsi just plain doesn't taste good. I'm a Dr Pepper guy. No hate on soda preferences from me though. I'm ultimately more of a root beer guy anyway.

I would've taken more sins off for the ending. The "It's all a dream cliche" deserves 5 or 10 sins alone. It was very satisfying to know it all happened.
The costume designs for the creatures were good too. Sins taken off for the fact they didn't over use CGI. At least in my opinion they didn't.

For some reason Krampus grew on me I love it and watch it every December it's a Christmas tradition with me love the atmosphere and odd way it portrays an evil Santa lol

My friends and I have a sin for Krumpus we came up with after we saw the movie.
Krumpus sends a baby to Hell "ding"
In German folklore, Krampus puts babies in his basket and then goes to hell to devour them later.
So if he is a demon does he get sins for being evil or for being good?

Simon McGillivray Sorry, I just really do like the origin story of Krampus. In tradition Krampus go's out with Saint Nicholas on the night of December 5th. Krampus carries the presents in his bag, and St. Nicholas gives the gifts out to the good children. The naughty children receive a lump of coal or a twig. Also, sometimes the naughty kids get lightly hit with a bundle of sticks, but Krampus will stop when he is told to. Once again, sorry😕

Why does he assume that its weird to speak in two languages in a conversation? I do that all the time at my house, my family talks to me in spanish and i reply in english, and we both understand perfectly.

Becoming an Eagle Scout takes years of dedication so it very respectsble
Families today see the Scouts as just a family fun organization just for the kids to have something to do. They don't take scouting seriously like it ought to be treated. Rather it has become something like taking your toddler to the daycare, just good clean fun. I took being a scout seriously and treated my involvement like military honor. It was that important to me. But today it's just family fun with girls being boyscouts and mothers being scout leaders. The dignity of The Boyscouts fallen from grace. It used to mean something, now it's just a family fun affair. 😒
I think the biggest sin is that one grandma can experience Krampus twice
