@@NarnianLady they could, but that's not really how they roll. This was the closing song on the Album "As the World Bleeds" (their 3rd album), and their closers are usually the longest songs on the album. Additionally, they'd be leaving out stanzas if they condensed it to 5 minutes, cutting away from the complete description of God.
Exactly what I try to say when I say to someone else what I feel when listening to Matt's work. Man this isn't just a Christian metal band. He is a hymnographer and his lyrics are straight Theology!!! If you know you can get the nuances and the deep messages in his lyrics. The guy is something else!!! I always feel it.....always. Something different. It changes my mood....I feel something...I can't describe it but it gives me a gentle lift in my soul. My mood lightens and dark thoughts gently go away!
Epic song. Good video and cool t-shirt! Isaiah 53:5 But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed.
Typically, you can’t go wrong with Righteous Rock. From the 70’s with The Resurrection Band and Petra all the way up to today with Theocracy, Stryper, Demon Hunter, Saviour Machine, Tourniquet, etc., God Rock has more to offer than just the same instruments as every other band...they also have lyrics that offer hope, truth, guidance and positivity. Messiah Metal for the heavy hearted, the soul searchers and the wayward warriors! Rock on...you’re doing a good job with the channel. I’m always curious to see an atheist’s reaction to the other side. Peace from across the pond.
amen brother. christ brings the best out in people. music speaks to the soul, and the faithful soul can bring out the most incredible music that is humanly possible. in fact, it can be transcendent if the soul is faithful enough.
I am a MASSIVE Theocracy fan. IMO, they're by far the greatest band Ive ever heard. So glad you enjoy them. If you haven't already, check out their song "The Gift of Music." I think any artist in the music industry will appreciate the brillance of the song and lyrics. Its my all time fav!! Great job with the reaction!
I am is a good song, Some other great songs to check out: Ghost Ship, Laying the Demon to Rest, On Eagles Wings, The Master Storyteller, Hide in the Fairytale and a cover of Angra's Time.. great stuff
@@Demon_Slayer329 it's become one of my favorites. I Am as well, and Nailed, I just found the band recently from a recommendation and I highly love the band now.
This song is epic. Kudos to the composer. Especially the counter melodies sung in the middle of the song. So rare to find this is a rock song. Counter melodies are usually found in classical music. The lyrics are the most anointed and powerful I have ever heard. Absolutely inspiring.
Love Theocracy with all my hard rock metal Heart! They craft and construct amazing songs! If you're ever really bored try Mirror of Souls a 20 minute epic! Rock On sir 🤘
First time I heard this song the vocals reminded me in range and tone of a young Dennis DeYoung of Styx. Actually, after many, many listens they still remind me of Dennis DeYoung.
I found Theocracy from your last song review Demons to Rest. Thank you! I have followed you since your first coverage of Stryper. I love this song, thanks for the review
Great song and great band. Power metal is not my favorite sub-genre of metal, but I can listen to them all day. I hear a lot of influence from Iron Maiden in their other songs. Sometimes they get a little thrashy, which is good, but all in all a great band.
I love your comments, as I can see more in the music than what I originally got out of it listening on my own. I enjoy your perspective. Keep up the good work. I'm just getting into Theocracy a bit more now that I've listened to a few songs of theirs.
Matt is a master storyteller, his music is never 'overproduced', there are always the perfect amounts of tempo changes... Every tune I've ever heard by Theocracy, every layer from the melodies to how a tune ends feels like they are building the "mold"... hard to find anyone to compare them to. (IMHO) Great review!
But your reference to Tony Harnell is a good comparison as well. Maybe even a little bit of the dude from Steelheart. Just amazingly high, soaring vocals.
If you want to listen to a straight up metal song from Theocracy, listen to the song "Nailed" off of the same album...As The World Bleeds! The guitar at the beginning is killer!!
Theocracy is the greatest Christian band since Barren Cross. Those of us who favor triplets in the Iron Maiden vein, Barren Cross filled that void. Theocracy is easily the best Christian band in 20 years. Stryper is great but a different genre IMHO. I do wish Barren Cross was still making music. They were by far my favorite of all time.
I look forward to seeing what Sacred Warrior comes out with. Their new lead singer is promising so let's hope Sacred Warrior lives up to the hype. I'm not a fan of their new album art. Maybe that's just me.
when you give life, you are ordained to protect that life. that life cannot be sold off, pawned off, forgotten about, laughed about, given to or any other want to be away from. you are tied to this life for the rest of yours. abortion is an easy out, so those who are afraid of what they too are, can't walk away from its importance. the importance of the life that you have created, easily KILLED by your selfishness. the dog is replaced, the cat gets away, the fish swims until it doesn't, and your life still goes on. when you have a child, its not so easy to forget that they must outlive you. the fear that they might not, and the thought that it is because of something you did, is terrifying, but that is no excuse to abandon that child. think about what that being goes through when you are not there. even if they are abandoned by you and given to a loving family. they always know that they were not wanted by their mother. we all have a responsibility to ourselves if we never conceive, but if we do, we have to care for ourselves in a capacity that is outshined for our child, and in acknowledgement, our life exists for the young.; its hard, its selfless, its daunting, we don't get to go to paris, but we get to give to our loved ones, so that when their time is here, they can use what we have given them, and go where we could not.
New to your channel but I have enjoyed your insights as well as you unmitigated glee during the really crunchy parts. You seem to really like crunch. Also, you don't get yourself in a twist bc a band is christian. I have never understood the bias against christian music. Regardless of if a listener is or not different things inspire people. If the music is good it shouldn't matter. Theocracy is one of my favorite bands. I have, by the way, the I Am hoodie which has the lyrics of the song on the back and the Theocracy logo on the front. It is among my more prized possessions and I wear it to shows all the time (when we could go to shows...)
Anyone else feel the Holy Spirit's presence while listening to this?
Yep
well they could have condensed the song into 5 minutes without any loss of God's presence :)
You have no idea of how Christ has touched my life through this song.
It's brutally biblical!

Lyrically, this is the best song I have heard in a very long, long time. It's just amazing.
Matt is a MASTER Storyteller too!🤘
I can't stop listening to this song... I hope I see them play this in heaven!
Epic song. Good video and cool t-shirt!
Isaiah 53:5 But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed.
This is the greatest rock song I’ve ever heard. So complex yet beautiful. Matt Smith is a musical genius.
Matt's lyrics are pure Theology. Straight from the scriptures. A metal hymnographer. The guy is one of a kind
How could you not hear the lyrics? They hit you over the head, and that's a good thing.

All the job is AMAZING dude, my top song is indeed AS THE WORLD BLEEDS
He already did Laying The Demon To Rest. Their best song, IMO.
Invest the 22 minutes in to listening to the masterpiece Mirror of Souls. It’s a journey!
Absolutely I back the song up 1000%

Agree! This one is also special! Its not just a song. Its a story worth telling and listening to.
don't forget the entire album "ghost ship" . it is their magnum opus.
22 minute an 30ish seconds long lol
Great song!! But you will not find a bad one from this band! All killer no filler!!
Hey! Greetings from Costa Rica. Along with Stryper, this my fav band

I've always compared Matt Smith to Michael Sweet. Especially on the Mirror of Souls album. Soaring vocals. He's a beast. And so is Sweet.
