Ah RUclips algorithm, you've accidentally recommended something relevant to me for once. I stumbled across this video and absolutely love it as a Land rover series lover/owner myself. Love the style of video, please more videos like this
Enjoyed that thankyou. Really liked the presentation. That's an awesome landy. I too just picked up a bargain 88' 67 landy that was meant for a scrapper.
I had my Series 3 gearbox refurbed and replaced in 2020 by some professionals who made a right mess of the job. Broke a wing mirror. Lost the Hi-lo knob. Didn't replace the 2/4WD selector lever spring. Reconnected the fuel gauge wrong. Two weeks later I lost all drive, jiggle jiggle, managed to get low range engaged and limped home. They took it back and spent six weeks fixing it up - but in their favour the boss did sack the bloke who did the work. Its back with a proper vintage resto firm this year getting the engine, bodywork, and chassis sorted out. It'll be 40 next year... Happy trails!
Nice video, thanks for putting it together ! My gearbox and transfer case leak from pretty much everywhere, so am considering pulling it out to reseal this winter..
I am about to start re-assembling a series (again) - I was watching a few videos to refresh my memory - This story you have posted is Epic. A lot of fun, and very informative. Well done, seriously. CM. South Africa.
Thanks very much! Always happy to see people enjoying my videos. I wasn’t sure if people would be interested in this one but it’s turned out to be my most popular video. Thanks for watching 👍🏻
Absolutely brilliant! Thanks Dudley for a very informative video. For any novice mechanics like myself, this is a MUST view as Dudley does some easy to understand commentary with great shots of what he’s doing. Thanks 👍🏻
What a great video man !..Thanks a lot...even I (english isn´t my mother language) did undestand you pretty well. Thank you very much. I have a Series III Santana 88" from 1.978. Your land rover is a beauty, congratulations and Cheers !
Very nice Landy mate. Like the dark grey, all lot of mine is gloss black underneath ( thrown oil from the back diff!) Working your way through all the components takes quite a while, but it just gets better. Amazing how shagged they can be and still go. Hence the reputation old rovers have I suppose. It’s certainly not how they CAN be, so long as you don’t expect them to be radically different from the design parameters, they’re bloody brilliant Good work
Thanks Very much! Glad you enjoyed the video. Yep, old Landy’s are awesome fun if you except them for what they are. Mine still needs plenty doing to it. It’ll never be finished. Thanks for watching 👍🏻
about to start a full strip down to fit a new chassis, wiring loom and "repaired" bulkhead to my series 3, I'm hoping for it to go well rather than snapping every bolt i try to remove,
I have the same yr and had to do the same job on mine a few yrs. back. It seem like it took forever, no power tools.I hope I never have to do that again, Im too old for that.
Hi Dudley thanks for a great video! ... just starting a full strip down of my new ! 51 year old series 2a swb landrover ... becoming self taught but ever attempted anything like it ! Would you mind letting me know who shotblasted and galvanised your chassis and bulkhead . Cheers Matt
Thanks very much Matt. The chassis work was done by Decorrosion Services Limited, Littleton Lane, Shepperton. I actually made a mistake in the video, the chassis was hot-zink sprayed rather than galvanised and they did a beautiful job. Glad you enjoyed the video 👍🏻
Old Land Rovers are very easy to find in the uk. Even the worst condition ones are now worth around £1,000 with a registration. I only paid £250 for mine. It cost £3,000 and took three years to rebuild but it’s worth around £8,000 today. The finest examples can be £40,000 but they’re too perfect and shiny. I like mine the way it is. Thanks for watching 👍🏻
Hi Kasper. I used an AutoSparks loom. I think it cost about £230 and was worth every penny. It was very well made and had all the correct connectors on it. Thanks for watching 👍🏻

Subscribed. I am pretty sure that kid's not old enough to drive :-))
He will be….. in eleven years 🚙
The boy is only 6 but he can parallel park his little car 😉
It’s like a huge lego kit 😉
Never too old for Lego 👍🏻
I love the seat-story: old peole mobility turned into young kids electric toys by their father who the uses the seats for his daddy land rover toy.

@@dudleyhewett7211 many thanks Dudley .. off to buy a pillar drill 🙈
Hi Matt. You know what they say.....
Land Rover. Turning drivers into mechanics since 1948..
Well done. Can you tell the colour code ( dark grey), perhaps even in terms of RAL, pls. Regards Heinz
These used in England must be fairly reasonable to buy and fix up. I found a few in the United States but they where like 40 to 80k way too much.

@@dudleyhewett7211 even the few old minis (not the bmw) ones in terrible condition are like 10K usd.

Hi Dudley, Great content:-) Got a S3 from 1979 i am restoring. What brand wire loom did you get?

Currently doing mine - how did you disassemble the withdrawal mechanism thrust shaft?
Great video , very entertaining much better than watching cats diving off ironing boards😂
Thanks very much. Glad you enjoyed it 👍🏻
