- This is a collage of different promotional videos and live performances by Thin Lizzy that were edited to look like a full-length video for their song, "The Rocker". This was an art project I did in school a number of years ago (1998?). The cheesy transitions were intentional to represent the limitations of video editing and the style of the 1970's.

Often imitated,NEVER duplicated. I think Eric Bells blistering guitar on this is down in history as one of the all time greatest.

I've read so many comments on RUclips that call Lizzy "underrated". Couldn't disagree more. Maybe they weren't as big a commercial success as some of their contemporaries. But that had NOTHING to do with talent. I think it had more to do with circumstances. People will continue to discover Lizzy and ask who these guys were. They were Rockers.
But the fact that they were not a commercial success is surely due to their being underrated at the time they were alive and gigging ?

Great video! I've never seen Lynott playing a Rickenbacker.....this is an old 4001 by the look of it, single pickup, I used to have one just like it. Listening to the song well cranked up, it could even have been recorded with the Ric. Used to headbang to this at the local heavy rock disco back in '73.....happy days.

This is the definitive hard rock track. Lynotts lyrics were as good as anyonres..100% real and to the point.
I'm not an Eric Bell fan. Blackmore, Lifeson, Barre and Emmanuel are among my biggest guitar heroes and still provides me with many wonderful guitar moments.
But here - in this original version - Eric Bell had a very divine moment. The way he plays The Rocker here is for me the ultimate guitar moment. The riffs and solo and the song as a whole is pure magic. I felt it that way when I bought the record in the 70's, and I still feel it today.

Bell's guitar solo makes the song for me. As much as I love Lizzy, the edited song without the solo is fairly unexceptional. Yeah, I said it!

Wow! Great video for one of rock's greatest songs. Lizzy were so much better with Eric Bell on guitar....
Not as familiar with Bell's playing as I am with the classic Robertson-Gorham tandem, or even the Gary Moore and Snowy White and John Sykes years honestly but I think I got to dig a little deeper. He never sounded better than on this one, anyway.
Excellent video, a great montage of Thin Lizzy throughout the years with a superb song.
Friggin excellent job editing man. 1st heard this song on Sirius radio 'Deep Tracks' about 2 weeks ago and they just don't make rock-n-roll like this anymore. Gave me a whole new appreciation for Thin Lizzy. Great job editing this.

Ten min. later the DJ said "I don't have that; do you want to do another Thin Lizzy song?" I said "I'm a rocker!" I TURNER THAT PLACE OUT!!! I KISSED A STRANGE WOMAN RIGHT ON THE MOUTH AND SHE SAID I'll DO ANYTHING FOR YOU, CUZ YOU'RE A ROCKER!" Thin Lizzy forever!!!
